Had a friend who lives in Berwick pick me up a growler of Hondo. This beer is easy drinking and tastes enjoyable. All I can say if you want to drink something refreshing after a hard day at work, Pours golden, slight head and tastes mild and refreshing....

First had: on tap at their brewpub
Clear golden pour with a ringlet of white bubbles for a head. Grainy and vegetal aroma, pretty basic stuff. Lightly toasted grains in the taste, mild malt sweetness, herbal hops, vegetal, with a twinge of metal in the finish and aftertaste. Mild and pretty light-bodied, sessionable at 5.5% ABV. Nothing great, but nothing really bad either.

A: From a growler poured a light orange with a fair clarity and light effervesce of generously spaced micro-bubbles. The head was slight, a bit fizzy and washy, quick to dissipate without leaving much of a lacing.
S: The nose showed signs of sweet candy and oranges. Light mentions of green leafy noble hops come to surface along with some stalky celery leafs following up.
T: The flavor delivers oranges against dry wheat with some fresh greenery and stemmy notes. A bit of candy orange sweetness and honeybread briefly creeps in before a finish of lightly dry herbaceous hops.
M: The mouthful was medium with a light honey slickness. A bit of alcohol shows up on the swallow with a gentle warmth that combines with some fresh noble hops and greenery. A bit sharp upfront delivery wise but laxs in the end.
D Decent drinkability, but a pint or two suffices here, don't know if I would go growler again.

On cask, via firkin, at Berwick Brewing Company's 2nd Anniversary celebration on 1/23/10. Served in a pint glass.
Pours a fairly clear gold, with a 1/2 finger of brite-white frothy head. Retains with a thin filmy layer that stays rich and leavs a strong looking smattering of spotty lace behind. The aroma has tight tanginess to it in the nose, with plenty bready malts and fruits, while a gentle floral and spicy character rolls along the back.
The taste is exactly the same, with sweet toasted bread and a splash of fruit, while some moderate spicy bitterness lingers on the roof of the mouth. The mouthfeel is light-medium bodied, with a creamy crispness to it that moves effortlessly across the palate.
This was one killer Keller Bier, with smooth flavors and an insane drinkibility (which would have been awesome even without being on cask). Thanks to Guy for busting this one out during the party. I'm really glad that I got a chance to try it.

A special firkin broken out during the Berwick Brewing Company 2nd Anniversary Celebration.
A-Slightly hazed golden amber with a foamy, medium white head that reduced to a thin cap and left spotty lace.
S-Bright apple/pear aroma with a nice backing of biscuit malt.
T-Fruity sweetness with sweet biscuit support. Simple yet pleasurable.
M-Light bodied and soft with a mellowness that the cask delivery offers. Good lingering fruity aftertaste.
D-Plenty of flavour with a soft feel and so easy to drink. This one goes down so easy!

On tap at the brewpub. Hondo appears a cloudy golden yellow with nearly an inch of fluffy off white, lingering foam. Ultra fresh tasting since it was just tapped an hour ago. A fruity, full flavored lager full of green apple, grape, toasted biscuits, a nice helping of pleasantly bitter grassy hops. Light to medium bodied and adequately carbonated. Excellent drinkability. Glad to see this one return to the taps at One Guy.

Via growler pour into stange on 9/8/08. Thanks to brewslut for procuring this growler from One Guy's brewpub!
A - Slightly hazy golden/light amber body with one-finger frothy white head that receded into patchy retention and left some decent lacing around the glass. Very modest amount of carbonation present.
S - Buttery biscuity malt with a hint of spice and fruit reminiscent of apple, peach and apricot.
T - Matches the aroma with a sweet, fruity palate with a mild spicy aspect, followed by a buttered biscuit maltiness and hints of crusty bread.
M - Light bodied with a watery texture and moderate carbonation, resulting in a bit of tongue prickle. Finishes crisp and clean with minimal bitterness and a bit of residual sweetness.
D - Guy makes some excellent traditional German brews, and this one is no exception. Very well done and true to style. Nice job!
