12 oz. bottle slow pour into a pint glass.

A- Bright flourecent yellow color. Big head. Where did that head go after the first sip? It's gone and I'm left with a boring looking beer. No lace. Chunks of sediment floating.

S- Lemongrass. Sour? Lots of grassy/earthy tones. Grain?

T- Ugh. Soapy. Tart. Lemon Jolly ranchers. Some faint wheat. Medicinaly and herbally. Lacking some balance in the flavors.

M- Lacking carbonation. Flat. Expected more body.

D- I won't be purchasing this again. This missed the mark on flavor and mouthfeel.

This is the only beer I've ever had that left NO head and no lacing whatsoever within a couple minutes after the initial pour. The liquid sits there in the glass looking like unfiltered apple juice.

The smell is overwhelmingly of citrus/lemon.

Flavor is also quite lemony - a bit too much so. It's also right on the verge of being sour. Unlike actual sour beers I've tasted, this is drinkable, though not quite pleasantly so.

Mouth feel is okay - sufficient carbonation, light to medium body.

I'm not a huge fan of the style - and if I had to choose between Blue Moon and this, I would go with Blue Moon - something I never thought I would say.

(sample bottle from rep, presumably somewhat fresh - poured into a fluted goblet)

A: very hazy, golden-yellow liquid with some nice swirls of perhaps spice sediment threaded through, top to bottom... the rise of foam is rather weak and thin for the style - not much retention, though it maintains a thin pad

S: bit of a toasted sugar cookie base with fringe tinges of lemon and Indian coriander... cookie dough like malt aroma... fairly inviting

T: bit of a yeast-forward, herbal-hoppy-bitter Euro Pale lager flavor immediately up front (weird), which settles in for a moment, after which the spices and the cookie-ish malt make a back door entrance up into the palate... the lingering flavors are that of pale malts, fresh yeast, and citrusy coriander overtones

M: fairly smooth with medium-full weight, with a prickly bite of bubbles on the front end of the tongue

O: interesting flavor characteristics but missing that one or two key elements that could bring it up to the next level - a fuller, creamier body? - more complex yeast aromatics?... it's somewhat flavorful, but ends up coming across like a brewpub's first keeper Wit recipe - a foundation to build upon

Poured into a chalice: color is copper, a little dark for the style, head is off white and presents 1/2 inch thick, light bubbles on the glass.

Smell is malt heavy, lighter wheat and biscuit, no spice.

Taste is again malt heavy, no apparent spice or yeast character.

Mouthfeel is decent, a touch over carbonated and crisp.

Overall an okay beer, but not a witbier or otherwise notable ale.

Served on tap in a pint glass

Appearance – The beer is served a clear lightly golden color with a one finger head composed of a white foam. The head has a good level of retention, slowly fading over time to leave a moderate level of lace on the sides of the glass.

Smell – The aroma of the beer is of a wheaty and bready smell mixed with some yeasty aromas. Along with these smells are some caramel smells as well as hints of Belgian spice a bit of lemon and a little bit of banana.

Taste – The taste begins with weak but somewhat smooth and light bready taste with hints of wheat within. A moderate caramel taste is there as well mixed with a bit of banana, bringing a moderate sweetness to the brew overall. As the flavor advances the wheat gets a bit grainier in nature with a caramel taste fading some as the taste moves on to the end. Along with the caramel fading some yeast flavors come to the tongue growing more intense as the taste moves to the end. Along with the yeast, comes some coriander and a little bit of clove. At the end of the flavor with all the transitions that occurred, one is left with a lightly sweetened and rather mild wheat bready flavor to linger on the tongue.

Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is quite light with a carbonation level that is on higher side. The light body and higher carbonation are good for making it more refreshing in conjunction with all its lighter flavors.

Overall – Certainly not a flavor powerhouse here, but very easy drinking. An alright session style.
