The upside of the slow down is I get to tend to some of these old reviews that are stragglers.

Pours an amber color, a lot of these 90s ipas were just hoppy amber ales by comparison to contemporary standards. Off white 1/2" head, good retention. Mostly caramel aroma. Reach for the bittering hops here.

Taste brings the beer more into balance, instead of the caramel dominance, now it is relegated to a co-equal status with the bittering hops that seem like they are of the C variety: grapefruit, pine, caramel brings the noise. Malt gets sticky and woody in the mouth feel. The warmer the beer gets, the more of an obstacle it becomes. There were no off flavors, but it was an all too familiar recipe in its day. It did satisfy the hop kick, as they didn't skimp, it was solidly a 60ibu beer, but the caramel/wood/grapefruit rind aspect got a little tiresome if you were crushing the entire 6 pack in one sitting/weekend/whatever. Was still my fave beer from them.

Host shared with a tap for homebrew day

A - Pours orange with lots of mostly-white head, which dissipates slow.

S - Flowers, grassy hops, and malts. A little bit of caramel too.

T - Flowers, malts, and honey.

M - Fairly full-bodied, but bitter.

D - Drinkable, but could use more flavor in hops and malts. Usually, I have nothing, but compliments for Sac Brew, but this beer could use a little help.

t: grassy hops w/ strong citrus and bitter hops; rounded out mid-sip by medium caramel malty warmth

m: smooth and creamy; light carb

d: good IPA that has a blend of a lot different of hop flavors

From BevMore in Sacramento at $7.49 a six pack. Poured a nice copper color with a nice white foamy white head. Nose was strongly of hops with floral and citurs aromas. Mouthfeel very smooth and flavors mostly of malts and hops. Good bitter finish. A good IPA that was a pleasure to drink.

Served on tap at the brewery. A fine west-coast interpretation of the style, with a light straw appearance and a fluffly head that left lots of lace. The malts are but only a prop for the bitter hops to lean on. Unique bitterness, quite upfront. The is a subtle unpleasant taste, akin to oversteeped green tea, but it isn't too distracting and good flavors carry the beer. Great crispy fresh bite and clean, bitter finish. Refreshing and recommended. Cheers!

Picked this up at Raley's out in Tahoe. I went in with no preconcieved notions or expectations, but I was pleasantly surprised. The hops were not overwhelming, but had a nice citrusy taste. Left a little bit of a sweet taste, but nothing to complain about. This is a very drinkable IPA.

12/13/04- Purchased at Jackson's Wine and Spirit's in Lafayette, CA

Presentation- 12 oz bottle with no experation date. Poured into my Englander pint glass.

Appearance- A golden-amberish color. Pours with a smallish head and very little lacing.

Smell- Light hops and spices. A tad bit of fruity flavor.

Taste- A bit watery and tastes more like a pale ale rather than an IPA. More malt than hop flavor going on.

Mouthfeel- Perfectly average. Decent carbonation and goes down fine.

Drinkability- Will stick to other IPA's that are much better.

This arrived with a light gold look to it, and no head at all. It's not leaving much lace.

The smell of this beer was probably the high point. It's appealing and it gives a good impression of what else is in there. The taste brings the expected hop content with citrus and grapefruit. The mouthfeel is good, although the finish seems a bit too floral. Drinkability takes a small hit for that quality.

Pours a clear golden/orange with a medium sized creamy off white head. Left good lace. Sweet spicy and hoppy aroma with hints of caramel and citrus rind.
Semi sweet malt, caramel and a grapfruity hop bitterness. Balanced fairly well but had an annoying aftertaste that was bordering on metallic.
Medium bodied with good carbonation. Drinkability was hurt by the aftertaste. Perhaps I just got an off bottle.
