I can only say good things about this beer as it has served me so well after many tastings! I have had many cans of this delightful brew from Southern Star brewing out of Conroe, TX. Pours a hazy yellow/orange, smells deliciously sweet and drinks the same. Drinkability is extremely high as I could have one of these daily! Light on the hops and malts are balanced very well with the sweetness of this brew. Truly a delight!

I had this one in Austin about a week ago. It was pretty good but I think it was probably also amplified by how badly I was craving a beer after a long day.

I just gave it a 3.0 in appearance given that I had it out of a can. I don't really know what separates a beer from having an "awful" appearance versus an "exceptional" appearance. You know, unless there were little bits of meat floating around in it or something. I suppose that would be pretty awful.

Appearance: Blonde Bombshell pours a light golden color with slight orange highlights and 1.5 fingers of white head. Retention is pretty nice, and lacing is very nice. Good looking beer.

Smell: Lots of sweet, bready malts and slight citrus and piney hops. Hops are very light, but that's not surprising considering the style. Still, not bad.

Taste: Bready malts and some sweetness are prevalent up front, with a light kick of hops on the back end. Finish is bready and slightly citrusy.

Mouthfeel/Drinkability: Light bodied, but the carbonation is really nice. Pretty smooth going down. This is a really well-done blonde ale, and very drinkable. It has just enough flavor to make it sessionable and give you a desire to have several.

pours a very nice golden yellow with 1.5 fingers of creamy head. very unfiltered with a bunch of sentiment.

smell is very light and subdued in general. there is definitely some sweet malty aromas with small but noticeable amount of hops.

taste is smooth and creamy. lots of yeast and maybe a hint of corn. more bitter than expected.

mouth is medium bodied with good carb. very light and refreshing in general.

I enjoyed this beer more than expected. not ususally a lighter beer person but this one worked for me. very light and refreshing. Great summer beer.

I enjoyed Southern Star's Pine Belt Pale Ale enough to warrant grabbing a 6-pack of the Bombshell Blonde. This blonde is excellent.

It pours slightly a slightly hazy and golden, with the unfiltered particulates floating about even in the beer, and makes a frothy but bubbly white head.

The smell is of citrus, its bready from the wheat and yeast, and slightly spicy from hops.

The Bombshell Blonde tastes great. I would prefer a more full-bodied feel, because that's what I always like, but there are some great flavors. The yeast is there, as is the citrus tang, but what I think makes this beer stand out is the lingering flavor of the hops that adds bitterness and gives the beer full flavor.

It's like a German hefeweizen mixed with a light pale ale. A good beer here!

Pours a slightly-hazy golden dirty-blonde in color, topped with a frothy, very pale tan head (head is the consistency of whipped cream). LOADS of suspended yeast, here -- I'm surprised I didn;t notice this fact the first time I enjoyed this one, as it looks more like a Belgian blonde or golden ale than anything. Loads of sticky lace here.

Sweet, malty//bready nose, more fruit-forward than anything (bananas, light pineapple/tropical fruit/mango), and with nothing resembling so much as the slightest American West Coast hop profile -- maybe a hit of Cascades and another, gentler hop for bitterness, but both are rather buried beneath the copious fruit notes. The nose here actually reminds me of the Southern Star Pine Belt Pale, so I'm guessing there's more than one shared ingredient (malt and/or hop).

Slightly-sweet, smooth and tongue-coating on the first sip, this one is as light and almost delicate as I remember it being. Nice dry, bready/biscuit malt character going on here, but the mouthfeel just won't quit! As such, it drinks bigger than the listed ABV, even despite bearing a minimal alcohol profile.

Highly drinkable, and biscuit malts and dry character linger --much less any real bitterness-- but Bombshell strikes me as an excellent food beer, and as an easy go-to for someone who's looking for something easier-going than a hoppy Pale or an assertive Pils.

Definitely worth a Tick or a Trade -- Hattip to Crusian for the cans! : )

Picked up a can at Whole Foods. Clean but a bit boring. Just very subtle pale malt and a hint of herbal hops. This is a very light tasting ale, though the body isn't too thin. It's a fine lawnmower beer, probably a good beer for a party with mixed beer appreciation, but I wouldn't buy it for myself.

Poured into snifter.

A- Pours a hazy copper to yellow with a small frothy head that recedes quickly. No lacing.

S- Good wheat and bread and a slight overall sweetness. Little to no hop aroma.

T- Slightly astringent, with a lot of wheat/bread and a small amount of spicy hops.

M- Very dry but not thin.

D- It is a good beer for a hot day, there is little complexity. I really liked the small amount of hop spice, I just really wish there was a lot more.

Pours a cloudy yellowish with amber tints. Massive fluffy white head that hung around most of my way through the beer.

Aromas that were mostly wheaty/bready. Slight floral and a bit of sweetness.

Tastes followed the nose with the breadyness followed by some citrus and a nice balance of sweet.

Surprisingly creamy mouthfeel. I enjoyed this one a lot. Another one that would be perfect for a warm summer day. I can see myself cracking a few of these back to back. No alcohol presence whatsoever.

Courtesy of lnashsig (thanks!) - poured from a 12oz can into my Dogfish Head shaped pint glass.

Hazy orange peel body with faint golden-amber highlights and a lasting small stand of ivory foam. Sandy quick running lacing, average retention.

Smells much like a loaf of fresh (mass produced?) wheat bread - very doughy and sweet with the suggestion of butterscotch as well.

If this were a home-brew I would seriously wonder if a bag of Werther's Originals had been dumped into the wort, as this has a distinctive butterscotch/toffee sweetness similar to granny candy. Hops are AWOL unless they are contributing the faintly medicinal note I'm getting? Vienna malt adds a very delicate breadiness which is nice, but the finish is bordering on cloying. Hard to rate, as I appreciate that it is flavorful, but don't like said flavors...

Medium-light bodied, creamy, and well carbonated.

Partly refreshing, but then much too sweet with a constant butterscotch note (not diacetyl though) which grows very tiresome (although my girlfriend enjoyed it much more than me so YMMV).

Pours an almost clear gold, topped by a two finger off-white head. Nice look, better than the other two in this style I've tried. Only good feature of this beer.

Smell is all about the yeast, really strong yeast in the nose, not in a good way, with hints of sweet breadiness and grassy hop.

Medium flavor, full of rounded, and also strange, yeast flavors, followed by a bit of bread, finally some light hay flavors. Almost no hop to this, just some stale maltiness and languid sweet in what is a mostly innocuous but hardly delicious brew.

Mouthfeel is brightly carb.'ed, light bodied, not much offensive to the feel with a poor to non-existent finish.

Drinkability is not so good.

Impression: A mostly forgettable beer that I would not recommend unless offered as a freebie.

I poured a 12 oz can into a pint glass...

The liquid was hazy and golden there was a thick, white, bubbly head that reduced to a thin ring.

I first noticed a buttery, sugar, cookie smell. There is just a hint of floral hops in the background of the sweet malt.

When I take a sip there is just a slight bitter bite, then some buttery flavors, biscuits, honeyand some sweet malt.

It has a light to medium body, lots of carbonation, pretty average.

This is a solid blonde, the best part about it is the smell, I found it more flavorful than most blondes as well.

It's too bad the beer didn't match up to the buxom blonde on the can. The best things about this beer were the appearance (it didn't look like an adjunct lager) and the mouthfeel, which was thicker than I expected. But let's be honest, who buys a beer for these two charactistics alone? The taste factor dropped off for me because it had a strange lingering aftertaste that I couldn't put my finger on. Not repulsive, just weird. It didn't make me anticipate the next sip though. If you have no hair on your chest and this is a favorite style of yours, then give it a try. However, this brewery has much better offerings like the Pale Ale and Pro-Am. Not something I would seek again unless they attempted an imperial version.

A - Murky and cloudy amber/yellow. Thick white head with huge bubbles vanishes before my eyes.

S - lemon, black pepper, tomato, sweet malt.

T - Clean and crisp malt, some vanilla, touch of lemony zest.

M - smooth and creamy, quite light. A touch drying.

D - well this is very drinkable. tastes pretty good, pleasant, and not heavy.

Look: A golden blonde vixen with amber highlights, just like the hottie on the can. The beer is hazy with fine bubbles that loft into a light, off-white silky head about a finger-width deep.

Smell: The scent of that darling cowgirl's hair after a roll in the hay; sweet corn, malt, daffodils and toasted oats in a mild, pining breeze.

Taste: I'd kiss this taste right off her lips. Carmel, French bread, malty with a very slight hit of hops in a creamy smooth ale. Its light enough to drink on a hot summer day and rich enough to accompany a meal.

A: Fairly cloudy for a Blonde, so says on the side of the can "clarity is overrated". Great color with a good half inch frothy head.

S: Slightly tart followed by sweet malts and a citrus and earthy hop finish.

T: Subdued but with good flavor. Grassy, easy malts and light hopping. Good balance but nothing overly exceptional.

M: Very refreshing but again, nothing exceptional. Would have enjoyed it more if it was a little lighter.

Overall a great session beer for the summer. Refreshing and light but with richer flavor. Packaging in cans is a plus for me since most summer activities involve drinking where glass in prohibited.

I would definitely buy this again.

12 oz can into a pint glass. Big thanks go to jhimstedt for including what's been a canned want of mine for a while now as a generous extra in a recent trade.

Pours a hazed orange copper, with 1-2 fingers of foamy bright-white head. This retains with a thin frothiness that throws up a moderately rich cascade of lacing that then proceeds to quickly slide down the sides. The aroma is grassy and a touch spicy, with a pronounced fruitiness that mixes well with malty notes of bread and honeyed sweetness. This is flavorful and airy in the nose.

The taste is bitter and grassy up front with a green citric bite while, much like the nose, that fruitiness works nicely with the bready grains and sweetness of the malts. This finishes lightly bitter with some trailing dryness. The mouthfeel is lighter bodied, with a pleasant smooth crispness that keeps those flavors easy feeling and quite thirst quenching.

This was good and had just about everything I like in an American Blonde Ale. A moderately assertive bitterness, fruity hop flavors, a silky sweet malt backing, and a refreshing and crisp drinkibility. I pulled this cold out of the box and immediately poured it and had it with dinner. This is the type of beer I love to see being put in cans.

Pours slightly cloudy blonde, with abundant carbonation. Two fingers of head dissipate quickly.

I smell light, floral hops, with bready, yeasty notes in the background.

The hops fall back a bit in this beer's flavor, leaving a pleasant balance of malt, floral hops, and yeast.

For all its carbonation, this beer is a very smooth drink. Medium-bodied and almost creamy, it was not what I expected from its appearance. Drinkability is good, but I would find it moreso if it was just a bit lighter.

Pours a nice blonde color (duh) with a small head that leaves some good lace. The aroma is lots of melon fruitiness and a nice breadiness with some yeasty notes. The flavor is honey with some white grape and baguette plenty of fruity citrus notes and some mild hoppiness. Just delicious.

A: The pour is a clear golden color with a lot of tiny carbonation bubbles emanating from from the bottom and forming a finger's worth of off-white head.

S: Sweet malts with a surprising amount of citrus, grass, and floral hops. A bit of a sourdough bread thing going on, which strangely enough, I like.

T: The hops are not quite as present, but they are lightly floral and some sweet citrus notes. The malt is the primary feature of this beer, and again its got a bit of a sourdough character.

M: The body is light to medium with a lively carbonation, as I would have guess from the appearance.

D: I'm not usually one for blonde ales, but this was quite nice. Easy to drink and fairly complex.

Received as an extra in a recent trade.

Pours a deep, opaque golden yellow color with yellow highlights. Has a very thick white head that thins out pretty quick, leaving a solid ring that holds for the duration. Decent amount of lacing for a beer of this style.

Light aroma. Strong notes of sweet malts and bread, with a hint of honey and a slight touch of hops.

Taste is rather bland. Initial flavor of sweet malts, balanced out with a slight hoppy bitterness. There is a solid note of citrus throughout, and just a little bit of spice. Taste leaves the pallet almost immediately.

Lighter body. Great carbonation level. Crisp, smooth, and quite refreshing.

This is not a bad tasting beer by any means, it's just on the unimpressive side. Even still, it's light, smooth, and refreshing, and for someone looking for a beer they can suck down a few of on a lazy afternoon, this is honestly a solid choice.

A 12 oz. royal blue can, 1 of 2 kindly carried back from a Lone Star State expedition by beer buddy, Bill. Poured to a pint glass.

Besides the eye-catching cerulean, the can design boasts a buxom blonde in cowgirl attire, riding a large phallic [ahem] bombshell. "Clarity is overrated."

A: The fact that 'clarity is overrated' (i.e. non-filtered, non-pasteurized) is notable, because this one is FULL of dusty sediment, a fine flurry stirred up at every jostle of the glass. Normally this would result in a much lower score (and it IS a deduct), but it's an otherwise lovely blond: an appealing golden/butterscotch, a bounty of small carbonation, a pile of white cream cresting at well over a finger. Good lace in jagged peaks and scattered sea spray.

S: A little on the 'sourdough' side, a squeeze of tart amidst bready yeast. Kinda musty, kinda rank even...but strong for the style, so credit given there...

T: A grassy/wet hay malt/hop combo that works pretty well. Sticky bread dough and trace lemon, a dash of dry cracked pepper. It's (per the style) maltier and not terribly complex, but has enough balance to compensate.

M: Crisp (not biting nor too carbonated) and quite refreshing; light-medium body and smoother, creamier finish. A fine gritty feel and a to-be-expected stickiness with that much sediment. Finish tapers and ends weaker than hoped for.

D: Good beer with a few flaws that limit my score (and desire for more) a little. Unclear when this beer was birthed, so it's debatable where this can is in terms of its freshness (case in point: friend returned with it from Texas mid-summer...but it's been fridge-bound ever since). My hunch is, though, that it's still pretty fresh...it's just among the middle of the pack for those I've tried of the style. I could return to this...or not. Though, since this is my second of two cans, I guess I DID return to it! Thanks, Bill!
