Took a vacation at Devil's Lake, MI and Jackson was the closest BA approved city; which was about 35 minutes away. I just couldn't find the time to travel another hour to Ann Arbor so Jackson was it for me.
I had two options for Jackson, MI and this place was definitely the quantity over quality store. From the outside and when you first walk in, this places looks kind of like a janky liquor store in a part of town that you don't really want to be; just didn't have a good vibe going on.
There are about 2 full isles of beer on the shelf and a few cooler doors with cold craft beer as well. There was a lot of your typical Stone, Rogue, SN, SA, Flying Dog, Magic Hat, etc etc etc and then about a good row of just MI and other small craft brewers. No special Founders beers, just their regular line up. I was pleased to find Dark Horse/Ann Arbor Collaboration Dark Corner. There was also some Allagash that I picked up since that isn't avialable anywhere close to me. I saw some Shorts The Curl that I really wanted, but at $19 I passed. Overall, there isn't anything too special here that I was hoping to find on my trip to the beer mecca known as MI, but it is a nice selection of good ol' basic offerings. Also, please note that quite a lot of bottles had a nice layer of dust on them. I didn't go searching for any dates on anything that I wasn't buying, but they looked like they had been sitting around for quite sometime- maybe not the place to buy any non-fast moving IPAs, etc...
I would come back here since it had such a large selection, but I would go to the Cork N Cap first since they had more special stuff and I would probably spend more money there, then come to Super Liquor and spend the rest of my allotted money of regular offerings...

This was our last stop on the way home from Ann Arbor. Cork & Cap was closed on Sunday, so this was the one other shop in town. Beer shelves faced the row of cooler doors along the back wall. On the right there were six packs, and the shelf to the left was all bombers and import 750s. There was another aisle with more random craft sixers on one side and imports on the other. Everything seemed pretty well organized and clean.
I was looking for the recent bottles from Shorts, and found the main three sixers they do (Huma, Pandemonium, Bellaire) and some old bottles of the Curl that were $18, but none of the latest ones. They did have some new seasonals like Double Trouble and Hopslam though. Devil Dancer was still around here. I noticed a few regional lines not seen elsewhere, like Tri-City, North Peak (Diabolical, Siren) and a few others i've never seen. Didn't notice JP but they had some Leelanau still for $14. I settled on a Stone 13th Ann. (edit: 6 mos. old) after checking out the coolers and shelves. Imports were pretty broad, and there were some nice offerings like Aventinus and Nostradamus. A wide selection for a town this size.
Checkout was friendly enough, I heard the guys at the counter taking a special order for a keg. All in all, worth a stop if you're in Jackson, and certainly if you're local.

This is where I buy a lot of my beer. Easy to find, just off of W Michigan ave. So you walk in, and notice to your left all of the wine. An impressive collection of wine is to your left, and to your right a HUGE selection of liquor. Owner tells me they have a 10K bottle of scotch in the back. Anyway, you walk all the way to the end and that's the beer. The cooler goes all the way to the back of the store and there is another isle of beer as well. They have most of the Michigan brews, as well as most of the hard to finds but not to hard to finds. No trappists'. They carry all of the sam simths, and pretty much every popular beers that the people on this site love. Service is a bit poor though. Don't expect help or ask questions on the beer. If you're a BA though, you'll be fine. Good place with great selection.

The thing that sets this place apart is the sheer quantity of beer that they have here. You'd think that a place called Super LIQUOR would have a larger liquor than beer selection, but that simply isn't the case. They have a large cooler that stretches the length of the store in the back as well as a couple of aisles of non-chilled stuff. They have a lot of Michigan brews obviously, but I was surprised at all the beers I had never heard of from places like Maine, Cali, and even Alaska! Only downside is that they are a little overpriced. If you're looking for something that's commonly found in your local grocery store, then go there; you'll save a couple bucks. If you're looking for something new or hard to find, then this is your place.

If you pass through Jackson, Michigan, definitely stop here. I was back home in Jackson, when I asked my parents where I could go get some good beer. My mom told me that Super Liquor had a good selection. Holy Smokes, does it have a great selection! Plenty of Michigan Crafts and other Crafts from around the states. It was like having Christmas for the second time. Here are some of the Michigan items that they had in stock: Bell's, New Holland, Founders, Dark Horse, Shorts, Michigan Brewing Company, Acadia, Arbor Brewing Company. They also had many US Micros: Victory (Storm King, Hop Devil), Great Lakes, Stone (just picked up a Double Bastard), Great Divide, Sierra Nevada, Goose Island, North Coast. Foreign beer selection is awesome. Too many to list, but a great selection. Quality looked very good. Only saw one bottle of Shorts that had dust on it (from 06). Service was very attentive and friendly, but I'm not sure how much they actually know about the different beer styles. Bottom line-this is a great place to visit and spend time in. I saw beers here that I've never seen before. Highly recommended.
