I visited this place a couple of times over the years but was never impressed.
Well, I just learned that they greatly expanded their beer selection in December of 2007, so I went by today.
What a difference!
They have a very nice selection, with most of the weight going toward American craft beers. Their import variety wasn't as wide, and I didn't see any 750 mL bottles. But they still have one of the best selections in town. They even have some stuff I haven't seen elsewhere, including at the new Total Wine, like Bell's Cherry Stout, Anchor Old Foghorn and Sierra Nevada Southern Hemisphere Harvest Fresh Hop Ale.
All the beers are in coolers. It looks like you can't buy many singles.
Service was above average. At least two employees asked if I needed help.
Prices are a bit higher than the chains, but you'd expect that.
They have a small selection of five-liter minikegs.
It's worth a visit.

Norm's was doubled in size a little over a year ago. I went there before because it was close to home, but I go there more now due to more selection. They are a full liquor, beer and wine store with a cigar humidor. The cigars are nice in the winter with a few porters and stouts.
When you enter, walking straight to the rear and a slight left will start you out at the micro singles' cooler and continue left and it's all micros and imports including some mini kegs. The North American and Euro Macros are beyond where the new addition starts, so basically the original beer coolers are now reserved for just "the good stuff". Prices are a bit high on certain brands, but it is South Sarasota. Total Wine is usually lees but it's about 10 miles North, so you can't beat the convenience.
You have to watch out for expired or out of season beers. When I point them out, they are prompt about getting them out of there, but they don't get them all.

It's okay. Really just a liquor store with about 12 cases of beer. Still I saw plenty of Florida beers I don't see too many places (not that I really like any of them but St. Somewhere) and some of the basics from the good micros (Left Hand Milk Stout, Sierra Nevada Celebration, Brooklyns). Nothing super flashy, but nice anyway. At least I know I can run over there if I'm looking for some of the classics. They had plenty of large packs (including Dale's Pale Ale and Old Chub in 12 packs). However, nothing really in the 750 size.
