I had this at the Brew Pub. Served in a sample glass.
Appearance: The beer pours a cloudy amber color with a hint of gold. There is a layer of off white head that fades quickly but leaves some lacing on the glass.
Smell: I'm getting a nice bready malt flavor with enough hops to balance it out. The hops seem quite fresh and full of citrus peel bitterness.
Taste: The hops are definitely the star here. I'm getting a fresh hop citrus peel bitterness. This reminds me of a west coast style IPA, kind of like a Daisy Cutter. Some bready malt to balance things out. The finish is quite bitter.
Mouthfeel: The body is medium with tingles of carbonation. The finish isn't as dry as I thought it should be.
Overall: I would have liked some more carbonation, but the flavor is fantastic. The west coast hop profile was a win. I'd definitely have more in the future.

A Happy belated birthday visit to my favorite nearby brewpub, Friday Sept 28th
Had a glass of the American Pale Ale from the tap.
Pale amber coloring. excellent white head, which retained all the way down (Admittedly this was downed somewhat faster than usual) leaving decent lacing.
Nice hoppy aroma.
Taste was excellent, probably the best of the 5 I tried that night. (Grabbed a growler to go)
Mouth was comfortable. (Still haven'ty got the hang of reviewing mouthful)
Overall, a very good offering. The growler didn't last the weekend.

Served on-tap at the brewpub.
A - Pours golden amber orange with a nice one finger tall white head leaving small rings of lace down parts of the glass.
S - Smells of caramel, pine, mildly toasted grain and some dulled citric fruit and hops. Not as hoppy as in the past, I think this might have been the bottom of the keg.
T - Starts off with some sweet caramel quickly giving way to dulled citric fruit, grassy hops and the bready grains. The hops and fruit have really fallen off from what I have experienced in the past. Finish is a little sweet with some lingering bitterness.
M - Medium-Light body with moderate carbonation. Malty, bitter feel from start to finish.
O - I really liked this one when I had is on cask and while this version was still good it lacked the bright hops I have come to expect from it. I will have to try it again next time I am up there.

First had: cask at the brewpub
I sampled the Priestly Pale and found this cask ale to be much better. I'm not sure if they're made using the same base or what.
Poured a hazy yellow-orange with a small but dense white head that retained as a ringlet. Nice hit of citrusy hops in the aroma, with a distant biscuitiness in the background. More pleasant citrus notes in the taste, some tropical fruits, caramel malt sweetness coming in to take the edge off, followed by an encore of citrusy hops for a balanced and dry finish. Medium body, and quite drinkable. Not bad at all.

Pours cloudy orange with no head or lacing at all.
Smells of extreme citrus and tropical fruit. Really great nose on this one.
Tons of flavors and ones I associate more with an IPA than APA. A little bit of a citrus bite along with some tropical fruit up front. A touch of caramel malt and finishes juicy with a fantastic blend of pine and grapefruit.
Nailed it on the mouthfeel. Juicy hop combos and adequate carbonation.
I really enjoyed this one. More like an IPA than APA, but that's ok with me. Great flavor profile and the finish is splendid leaving me wanting more. My first Selin's Grove brew and if they are all this good, I'll be seeking out more.

A - Served with a cloudy, burnt orange body and a creamy, two finger, white head...the head retained nicely and left some patchy lacing
S - Holy citrus fruits Batman...orange, grapefruit, lemon all coming through...there is a minimal grain presence...I actually thought I was poured an IPA
T - Again, the citrus really stands out...lots of citrus fruits playing around in this one...those flavors are adding a sweetness to the beer that is enjoyable...the malt bill actually creeps in towards the middle...but it's just briefly because the beer finishes with a soft, creamy bitterness
M - Medium bodied...super smooth and creamy...soft on the palate...lingering bitterness that isn't harsh
O - As I said earlier, I thought I was served the IPA upon taking the first whiff and sip...a solid APA that took well to the nitro

Decided to have one more this night and chose a winner.
A: 1.5 fingers of white head that left a wall of lacing (white wall?). Color is a light amber leaning towards orange.
S: Very complex and hoppy. Grapefruit rind and pine smells are dominant. Probably the best smelling beer I've ever had.
T: Really nice flavors here. Juicy grapefruit followed by some prickly pine flavors. Hops are dominant all the way through. You might get a little bit of malt balance in the middle but it is quickly replaced by hops again.
M: Different on the nitro, not bad by any mean but different. The hop presence is very prickly though so you don't lose that feel which I found pleasantly surprising.
O: Another winner. I could throw back a few of these in a night. I'm very interested as to what their IPA is like if this is their APA. Great beer.

Served on nitro at the brewpub
A- pours orange with a one finger white head. About standard
S- not getting a ton of aroma out of this beer, but what I'm getting is a little bit of citrus
T- lots of citrus, and there is a minimal amount of bitterness from the hops. Solid
M- medium bodied, actually a little thicker than I'd expect from a pale ale
O- good pale ale, but nothing to really write home about.

Poured on nitro tap at the bar into a tulip pint glass.
Just to note it is very hard to get accurate descriptions of color since it is so dark at the bar. A creamy off white head is presented typical of nitro sitting on a pale golden amber body almost bronze and fairly clear. While drinking sheets of lacing just coat the glass. One sick looking beer.
Nose is a mild pine and cream. Soft lingering sensations very nice with soft graham cracker like malt.
Taste brings an incredible whipped texture. Orange whipped hop and a great lingering pine finish. Texture is pure cream with a soft malt backbone.
There is a lot of debate about the pro and con about what nitro does to beer. For this one it seems the effects are great for the appearance and texture but may have killed the nose a bit hard to tell. Regardless it is still a very solid beer.

A - Two finger's worth of rich slightly rocky slightly off white colored head... Decent enough retention...The color is a medium gold... Fairly still with very limited carbonation throughout...
S - Light citrus... Orange zest... Assorted other citrus notes... Light bready malts... A touch of caramel... A faint earthiness... Quite appealing...
T - The hops presence is a mix of pine and citrus... Some orange... Some mango... Well balanced with plenty of bready malts... Some earthiness... Very nicely done... A definite "little brother" of their signature IPA...
M - On the lighter side of medium bodied... Very light carbonation... A bit lush... A bit creamy... Definitively smooth...
D - Very light bodied with loads upon loads of flavor which is a very good combination... Delicate but very interesting... I would have no problem having several of these in a sitting...

Served at the brew pub in a stubby sort of pub glass/pilsner hybrid glass. Dispensed via nitro, it appears a clear amber color with a finger of silky tan fluff. This brew ha a beautiful appearance and a wall of lacing coats the glass with every sip. The cap retains perfectly throughout the duration of the experience.
The smell of this brew is fruity hops, juicy citrus notes somewhat rindy like grapefruit, orange and some tropical notes reminiscent of mango mixed with pineapple. Wow, this smells pretty darn good and more complex than I was expecting.
The taste of the brew is mildly rindy with orange rind, fruity character mixed with herbs and some floral notes. The rindy flavors evolve into something somewhat like mango and other tropical fruits. There is a light toasted grain quality in th aftertaste mixed with the fruity hop flavors. There is a faint yet enjoyable alcohol inclusion.
This is a medium bodied brew with modest carbonation. Silky smooth in the feel and excessively drinkable. It's almost not fair that this is put on nitro, it's already an awesome beer and having the feel in the mouth that only nitro can deliver makes this almost pound able. Another glass please, and another.

Reviewed from notes. On nitro-tap at the brewpub.
Pours a nice moderate copper color with a nice head and a good deal of lacing. The nose brings forward an abundance of citrus--especially for the style. A bit of light caramel and bread in the background, but this is definitely a hop-forward APA. The taste is quite a bit of citrus as well as some pine and light malt. Feel is nice with good bitterness. Drinks quite well; another really solid hoppy offering from Selin's. Love this place.

A nitro pint served at the brewpub. My third straight nitro pint, possibly a record.
A: The APA is a golden orange color, hazy throughout. In the dark din of the brewpub, it takes on a bit of a glow. The nitro head is, predictably, rich and dense. It leaves thick layers as the ale disappears.
S: The nose is typical Selin's Grove pale ale-style, robust and richer than it should be. Citrus is abundant, leafy with a grapefruit finish. The pale ale has a bit more of the pale malts to balance things out.
T: The APA is bready, plenty of malts to go around. They are aided by the nitrogen, cutting off the scrubbing effect of the bubbles. The malts are topped by the citrus hops, a citrus burst that seems to come out of nowhere. Much like the IPA, once it appears though, it doesn't go anywhere. The citrus bite, added with a bit of pepper, dominates the last half of each sip, seeing the ale away with a pleasant zing. It's no SGBC IPA but it sure comes close.
M: Nitrogen seems to settle the ale down, rounding out the bubbles and the hops. The result is a calm ale that doesn't skimp on hoppy bite, even though it doesn't wallop the palate.
D: An enjoyable pint. Take it off of nitro and I'd linger all day long.
