First time I've been able to try this brew. All the other times I've been to SGB it's been out so I'm pretty excited.
A: Bright orange-gold with a slight haze for the color. Pours with two fingers of white head that dissipates into a tiny patchwork on top. Almost no lacing to speak of.
S: All over the board with hops here! Some initial flowery smell up front followed by piney goodness and a hint of tropical fruits (grapefruit, pineapple)
T: Once again all hops here. A lot of the flowery and piney flavors from the nose come in here. The malt is there just enough to provide a backbone for this beer but it is all about hoppy goodness here. Not the bitterness you might expect with just a little bitterness up front, which gets washed away pretty quickly. Finishes nice and dry.
M: Medium mouthfeel here. Still lets you know you are drinking a beer but doesn't get in the way of the flavor:
O: Another winner from SGB. If you happen to be in the pub when this is on, you should definitely grab a pint of it. Great example of an IPA that doesn't try to wow you with IBU's.

All too often I find beers I have wanted to try for a very long time end up being a letdown. Or, I just build them up so much without realizing that I have tried so many beers that I may be setting the bar way too high.
This IPA does not disappoint. Intense, consistent, and thorough in flavor profile. I was not bothered by having a whole growler of this to have to drink.

Took this growler out to LA for the Bruery Barrel Age Tasting get together. I've had this a few times but just getting to a review of it.
A - super hazy orange color. I couldn't believe how much yeast was in suspension here. My buddies thought there was cottage cheese in it.
S - smells of mild citrus rind and wet grass. Not a huge nose to it like you would expect from a supposed top 10 IPA.
T - it does taste pretty good. Lots of orange fruit flavor. Reminds me of that Tampico juice my parents used to buy when I was a kid.
M - not much carbonation on this. I'm sure it had to do with being a growler and the transport of it from PA to L.A.
O - it's a good easy drinking IPA, but not really what I'd hoped for when I tried it. I can think of many ipa's I'd rather have.

Orange beer brought out by koufax21 for the Bruery barrel event. Mild citrus hoppy notes in the aroma, not overpowering, somewhat mild, was really underwhelmed by the aroma for sure.
Mild hopping again, decent enough drinking, but geez, this is almost british ipa territory had it not been for the citrus amount instead of just sheer bitterness.
Pretty standard stuff for an ipa. Good, not great. How this stuff is in the top 100 while nugget nectar is not, I have no idea. Anyways, I think my ipa drinking towards the east stops at about Ohio.

Thanks to jenrey for sharing a growler with me and some other BA's.
A: The cap opens without a pop and pours a murky orange color. No head forms and no lace.
S: Orange, citrus, zesty lemon. A nice simple hop aroma, if a bit one dimensional.
T: Again, some simple hops. Orange, citrus, zesty lemon. Spicy and lightly grassy.
M/D: This is under carbonated, almost flat. Not hard to drink, but one is enough.
Hopefully I get to try this again someday to give it another shot. Though as is underwhelming, and one dimensional.

Had this on 2011-07-23 in Columbia, PA
A - Hazy amber-orange with a 1-finger off-white head with excellent lacing.
S - Lots of earthy spice, some pine, mild tropical-yeasty-fruity esters and citrus.
T - The earthy spice strongly sits on top of a significant caramel malt backbone. The hops come in as strong floral with a touch of oxidized fruit, mint and candied orange. It takes a little while for the orange zest and grapefruit bitterness to penetrate the malt but it's satisfying when it does. The beer has some residual sweetness that I'd say balances with the lingering bitterness. Call it a tie.
M - Sticky with medium body and light-medium carbonation. Resinous and a little prickly.
O - An enjoyable IPA that leans towards a "spicy pie filling" malt backbone before it gets assertive. My preference runs to a drier, more brightly-citrus brew but there's a lot of flavor here for an IPA.
Notes: I had another glass of this 5 hours after leaving the brewery. This growler was kept cold during this time. There wasn't much difference between this growler and on-tap. The only thing I noticed is I could smell it further away at home because it wasn't competing with the kitchen smells at the brewery.

Big thanks to chase2634 for this. Poured into a pint glass.
3.0 A: This isn't the best looking IPA I've seen. That much I'm sure of. Deeply hazed orange amber color. About two fingers of white, foamy head that falls quickly and leaves small touches of lacing.
5.0 S: This might be one of the best smelling IPAs though. Jam packed with flowery and citrusy hops. Megatons of mango foremost, followed by pineapple, papaya, and maybe some orange. Behind that there is grapefruit and pine. Lastly, this has a strong sugary aroma in there. Despite the color and cloudiness, the malt and yeastiness are really faint. Just a touch of breadiness from them. Really intense and really pleasant.
4.5 T: Taste is much like the nose. Incredible amounts of pineapple, mango, and papaya. Cake icing, grapefruit, orange, and pine. Again, really intense flavors. The malts come through more this time. Slightly biscuity and bready from the yeast. Moderate caramel sweetness and some peachy fruitiness from there. I really like this, but I'd prefer if the yeast were a bit cleaner.
4.0 M: Medium body. Good carbonation, especially for a growler. Reasonably creamy, though I could go for a bit more in lieu of the slight chewiness it has. Otherwise, smooth.
4.5 D: This beer doesn't fool around with the hops. That's probably why it's so highly ranked. Can't say I don't love it either. Worth seeking out.

Poured from a growler into my Allagash glass. It poured a hazy dark orange color with a thin white head clinging to the edges of the glass.
The aroma has a bright and juicy hoppiness to it. I get some notes of grapefruit mixing with some more tropical mango and pineapple flavors. I get a sweeter, candied orange like flavor to it as well. Pretty nice hoppy aroma to it overall, the tropical fruit notes are especially nice.
The taste has a lot of citrusy flavors to it throughout the flavor. I get dose of candied orange with some notes of grapefruit pineapple and mango. Towards the finish more of a resiny, earthy bitterness starts to come out helping to offset some of the sweetness.
The mouthfeel is medium bodied with carbonation being moderate. Overall I found it to be a flavorful and interesting beer. It had a very unique, almost candy like citrus flavor to it that I really liked. Definitely a very solid IPA overall.

Thanks Urbancaver and CooperEllis! This was better than I expected.
A. Pours a very pretty blood orange with foamy white head.
S. Mango, grapefruit, other tropical fruits, and lots of beautiful floral notes.
T. Citrus, pine resin, tropical fruit, and a nice fruity sweet malt backbone. A bit of earthiness. Interesting and complex. A great IPA.
M. Thick and luscious.
D. Supremely drinkable. A huge fan of this one.

Pours a very pretty reddish orange. A bit of white head. One of the prettiest beers I've had in a while. Smells nicely hoppy with a touch of malty sweetness. Lots of citrus and pine and grapefruit on the nose and tongue. Very thick and complex. Something earthy as well. Subtle but very nice. Overall a really complex, thick, viscous ipa that is truly top notch

Appearance: Beautiful deep cloudy orange body with a one finger white creamy head.
Smell: WOW lots of fresh grapefruit, orange peel, fresh floral armona also with some spicy malt
Taste: It is the best IPA/DIPA in my 2cents and I had some pretty good IPA's such as blind pig, pliny, abner, sculpin etc. The citrus blast hits you first of bitter grapefruit, sweet peaches and mango and than some piney hops and also some spicey hops, but than it evens out with some sweet malts.
Mouthfeel:very creamy and smooth
Overall:This beer is a classic IPA/DIPA and will stand up to any IPA/DIPA out there!

This beer is awesome, what a treat to taste this out of a growler, brought by Chaney (Brandon). Thanks man, awesome stuff.
A: Really hazy orange with pink highlights, good lacing, ring of head, beautiful beer.
S: Huge fresh ground up hops with all the colors you expect: Tropical citrus, pine, flowers, you name it. Just enough malt to be a pedestal for the hops. top 5% of IPa's (single or double) I've smelled.
T: A little more sweet malt comes through and a little less hop than the smell but still great stuff, man i keep going back for more. bread, tangerines, pine, and other citrus notes.
M: Awesome. Pretty good carbo, could be a little smoother.
D: Insanely easy to drink. Loved it.

I picked up a growler when I was up at the brewery on a little side adventure after Troegs Splinter Black day.
Straight from the tap, into a growler, into a cold car, and into my fridge. We enjoyed this at a tasting a little less than a week later.
A: Poured a very hazy off-brown, almost pink color, with about a one finger head that stayed mildly frothy throughout the session.
S: Tangerine upfront, followed by orange, grapefruit, and a little bit of ground up Flintstone vitamins. Simply fantastic!
T: Same as the nose, only even more intense. I found this one to be much more on the fruit side of the spectrum, as opposed to the extremely hoppy, bitter side (ala. West Coast style). It had a bit of an earthy, almost organic, homemade taste that one could tell instantly that it was handcrafted with the greatest of care.
M: Not too bitter.... however, this was definitely "Fruit Bombs R'Us!" As a matter of fact, the thick fruitiness and well-rounded carbonation buried the booze and then some.
D: I've tried several brews from Selin's Grove now and all have been among the top in their style class IMO. I could honestly drink a whole growler of this stuff.

Growler shared by Chaney. Thanks Brandon!
A: Hazy orange with a healthy, half inch of head that possesses good retention and leaves some decent lacing on the tulip glass.
S: Whoa! I can already tell this is going to be awesome. Citrus and hop aromas as fresh and alluring as can be.
T: I am truly floored. This beer blew my expectations out of the water. Delicious flavors of apricot, oranges, tangerines, nectarines, grapefruit, floral notes, and fresh hop flavor. Just wow.
M: Medium bodied with a beautifully bitter, slightly tart finish.
D: While I was drinking this beer, it was literally hard to focus on anything else. I could drink a growler of this by myself, and I know I'd be catching the drips at the end. I really, really like this beer...a lot!

This growler out of nowhere from ol' Thorpey. Thanks Mike!
Pours a burnt orange gold, not much head to it (it is a growler), but still some gobs of clinging white foam.
Smells like burnt grapefruit rind/resin, a whiff of the tropics ... pineapple? ... and a nice malt-y sweetness to the aroma. Smells balanced.
Tastes balanced, too. It's got a nice grapefruit husk/rind/resin backing that sticks to your teeth, some fresh cut grass and pineapple notes, a bit of caramel, almost barley-wine malt to it ... quite nice.
I enjoyed it. Damn near finished the growler.

Growler shared by Thorpe, thanks, long time want of mine.
Beer poured into a Bruery tulip. Beer is amber to red and mostly clear with a decent head and low carbonation. Spotty lacing.
Beer smells sweet but not malty, strong but not alcoholic, and very very hoppy, nice grapefruit and strong aromas, I like this beer already.
Beer is medium to light in body and creamy in the mouth. Minimal sweetness up front with some hoppiness on the back. The midpalate is a little fruity with the grapefruit and other mild citrus flavors, not as earthy as some of these IPAs but the hops are nice and its easy drinking. yeah, I would have this again.

Growler filled at the brewery.
After finishing the sampler, this was clearly my favorite. So, naturally, I had to take some home with me. Poured into a pint glass, the brew produced only a small amount of soapy head. Pale copper in color with low clarity. Smell is loaded with citrus hops and quite enticing. Palate is potent and wonderful. Hop oils are oozing with grapefruit and passion fruit flavor. Bitterness is pretty low for such a hoppy IPA. Mouthfeel is pretty fluid and dryness is very mild. Carbonation is very low. Reminds me of a cask IPA. Very drinkable and delicious. One of these is not enough.

Shared by Jason and split with a few of us.
A - Pours copper/hazy orange, slight carbonation, thin ring around the glass and some bubbles here and there on top.
S - Sweetness of malts, slight hops/citrus, pineapple, tropical fruit, apples. Lots of sweetness and slight hops. I don't think I've ever had an IPA smell quite like this. If there was more hops on the nose, I'd almost say it's a DIPA
T - Slight hops, citrus, tropical fruits, very smooth mix of malts and hops. Not overly sweet or hoppy...a good combo. The sweetness and hops mix together well and it doesn't taste like any other IPA I've ever had. Sweet finish with a touch of citrus.
M - Light, slight carbonation (could be more here), semi-dry finish.
D - Pretty darn good. Had a couple of pours and although I liked it, there are many other IPAs I'd rather have and much easier to score.

Big thanks to Mike Thorpe for this.
Growler into my Rochefort glass. A medium copper with a little orange, only a little carbonation...Nice but sweet aroma, pineapple, banana dominate but there is a little caramel and brown sugar...The taste is super malty, caramel, brown sugar, pinepple to start then in the middle there is a big hit of pine which is really nice and breaks up the sweetness. Very similar to a dipa just not enough hops but similar characteristics.
This is a very drinkable ipa, a little short on carbonation, so pretty decent in the growler, I'd love to have this on tap.

From Growler 8-14-10.
A: Poured a water-based orange with no head. I later agitated and swirled on following pours but got little more then a bubbly, soapy topping that quickly paved way to a polish surface. The effervesce was near silent, hardly visible, even consumed only hours after the original fill. All and all a bit disappointed and a lackluster appeal.
S: Sweet grains with a sweet citrusy nature appears on the nose of only modest intentions. Overall the aroma seemed more sweet then bitter with a wet lemon-lime and juicy pine hopping backed by an ample supply of sweet grains chiming in.
T: Flavor wise seemd a bit flat and lifeless, a big let down after recently sampling their Saison de Peche and Stealth tripel which were solid A beers in my humble opinion. I played it safe thinking I couldn't go wrong with their Ipa but sadly was mistaken. Sweet grains are inline with a wet hopping of pine and lemon-lime notes. With a total lack of effervesce this fails to bring out the crisp hoppy nature I was hoping for. The cap was tighltly sealed and after reading some reviews to verify it seems this was just the way the beer was made and not a factor of lost pressure or mishandling. A real shame. Things finish up with a bit of hoppiness on the trail but comes to little to late.
M: Flat, lifeless and could of easily gone lower here. Medium bodied but mattered little as I just didn't care to hold onto this any longer then I had to.
D: A very average experience all around and easily forgettable, maybe I had higher standards since I recently sampled their saison and triple. A quick search before posting yielded similar concerns about the underwhelming carbonation that made this limp to the finish. Don't bother with a growler here.

Big Thanks to beerisheaven for sending this gem my way.
A: Pours a nice copper hue with very little head. The growler was initally a bit flat but a carbonation cap brought it right back to life.
S: Nice bold citric aromas. Strong caramel notes with hints of grass. Bold and hoppy for sure.
T: Nice malt sweetness up front. Mostly caramel with notes of roasty brown sugar. The hops are mostly citrus with mild tones of sweet pine. The finish is bitter grapefruit rind with hints of fresh cut grass.
M: As I said a bit flat from the growler, I was able to bring it back to life so I will not hold that against them as I am sure they did not intend for the beer to be sent to Florida via Fed Ex.
D: Good, tasty as hell. I really wanna plunk my ass down at the bar at Selin's Grove someday.

Boy and I happy to have the chance to try this one courtesy of Bmoyer0301, thanks Brad!
A: Rich amber color and slightly cloudy, pours a mild head but it does not retain at all and hence no lace, but it is from a growler so that is too be expected.
S: Very nice citrus lemon and pineapple smell to start, it also reaks of resinous pine and flowers, as soon as i opened the growler I could smell this one! Some caramel is present as well in the nose
T: Oh yeah, thats the good stuff. It is not the citrusy west coast hop bomb, but rather just resiny pine that is oozing. There is also plenty of grapefruit flavor in there that is bitter and deliciousThere is also some vanilla notes which makes me wonder if it was oak aged, very well balanced between the bitterness and sweetness, similar to Super Kitty or Burton Baton
M: Big creamy mouthfeel with not heat whatsoever and a very nice lingering bitter grapefruit note.
D: Wow well that first glass went down way to fast and I am glad to have someone share this growler with me, but this would be a nice casual beer to enjoy throughout an afternoon

Big thanks to ffejherb for the growler!
Poured into a pint glass. Figured it would be a nice opportunity to share this with some friends while watching a little football during the holidays.
Somewhat milky, cloudy orange pour. Careful pour from the growler doesn't produce much foam, but there is some really nice lacing on the glass.
Aroma is mostly pine, with some citric undertones. Sweet up front, with a quick burst of citrus bitterness, then a long piney finish. The transition from sweet to bitter is quite smooth. This is a really, really easy drinking beer. Caramel malt backbone keeps this beer from being too bitter.
Really nice bitter dry finish. Delicious hop flavor, with no hint of alcohol. One of the easiest drinking IPA's, and beers in general, that I have ever tasted. Medium bodied, with just perfect carbonation. Just an outstanding IPA. Many thanks to ffejherb for the growler.

Serving type- I recieved a growler of this from Tanger in the Growling at the Moon Thanksgrowling edition(2nd stage). Poured into a Selin's Grove pint glass that was included in the package.
A- Pours a hazy deep straw yellow color. There are also hints of amber colors in the pint glass as well. There is a little carbonation activity but not very much, there is also a one finger white lace that quickly disipates into a little lacing.
S- I am getting strong grapefruit/citrus notes in the nose. There is also little underpining of alcohol notes as well, they are subtle but constant. I am not picking up much more than that, a real subtle smell to this beer.
T- The citrus, especially grapefruit, that was present in the nose of the beer comes out in the tastes as well. The combination of the citrus and piney flavored hops does not overpower the taste, it stays smooth and consistent from start to finish making for a nice tasting and pleasant IPA. I am getting a little bitterness near the end of the taste but that is to be expected for an India Pale Ale.
Like I mentioned above this growler was sent to me for the second leg of Growling at the Moon from Jon(Tanger). Before getting this I had never heard of this particular brewery btu after doing a little research I was very curious to pop the top on this beer and give it a shot. This is a solid east coast IPA that could easily by the type of beer you buy in growler form and drink while kicking back and watching football(which I am doing now). A very easy and very drinkable IPA. Thanks again Jon.

I was happy to share this growler brought by tenderbranson69 to HombreWing's w/ mughugger, abru17 and BitterBeerFace. I poured the ale from the swingtop growler into a goblet.
A - On the dark end of the spectrum, a burnished copper w/ thin white cap. Speckles of lace form in a band as the head drops. The clarity is good and there is visible carbonation, the cap has a tight bead.
S - Resiny odors that indicate citrusy hops, a very "C" hop aroma IMO w/ grapefruity and orange blend of fruity aromas, very mild malt scent
M - A brilliant crisp taste w/ juicy feel, resinous with plenty of hops adding a bitter tinge with a moderate amount of acidity, the malt feel is mild as any good IPA should be - about the hops
T - Centennial taste w/ orangey hop flavor, clean malt and mild sweet caramel tinges accent the American hop taste that is citrus without being bitingly bitter, more about the flavor of the hops, mild sweetness adds dimension w/ a rind/herbal hint as it finishes. The spice and citrus combo is tasty it finishes slightly sweet.
D - A great American IPA, very good representative of the style, well brewed and kind of reminded me of the SN Harvest, so not over the top by any means, solid.
