This tart, refreshing wheat was brewed with local strawberries and rhubarb from our friends at Barr's Farms. A perfect way to celebrate the Summer!

AKA "mind control" the strawberry rhubarb concoction has made another appearance at the taproom by Springhouse. Thw brew pours a clouded yellow with a thin white head that holds across the top with rising bubbles providing lasting support. Some spotty lace sticks to the glass.

The aroma has faint fruity aspects mildly like a perfume sort of strawerry essence. A very fait grain backing is also present that I want to call wheat but it isnt really noticeable. Even when allowed to warm up, the nose on this is very muted.

The flavor has a solid wheat grain taste with hardly a faint fruit aspect. The ability to detect strawberry is a shot in the dark at best. There is a hint of bitterness and yeast spice that emerges as it warms up.

This is a medium to light bodied and lightly carbonated offering. It is not bad but not that great either. I picked up on no rhubarb character and the strawberry was slim to none. As-is it wasnt bad though.

I had this on tap recently at the Taproom in Lancaster. Served chilled in a Nonic.

A very murky smoothie-type cloudy appearance with light rosey color and some golden accents, but hardly any head, more of a white ring of tiny beads with smatterins of lace collecting. The smell is very muted and lightly fruity but not much of either fruit/root really stands out other than a sweet malt ester. The feel is your basic wheat ale, slightly light yet moderately carbonated and lightly tart with a generally smooth body and slightly dry finish.

The flavor is not bad, it has a slight hint of berry and gentle tart elment that might remind of rhubard you find in a strawberry/rhubarb pie, but not extremely sour, just kind of lemony with a hint of malt toastiness in the background, a flavor that is obviously meant for summer based on the light flavor, but not offensive and not bold. I would say this is a take it or leave it beer for me. I would turn it down if it was offered, but also would not go out of my way to get it either. The strawberry flavor is so mild you get more of a wheat beer flavor so if you are into that this might be for you.
