First had: on tap at Pinocchio's, Media, PA

Solid black pour with a small tan head. Obvious aroma of mint, along with some dark chocolaty malts. More of this in the taste, chocolaty malts and mint, reminiscent of a peppermint patty or Andes candy. And that's it, pretty much...delivered what was promised. Body was about medium, not quite as full or robust as an ideal stout should be, slight alcohol presence. Overall, a tasty treat that I don't mind indulging in when I get the chance.

Mint seems to be a love/hate beer ingredient with most people. Personally I don't mind it if it's done right, and I think Spring House does a pretty good job with it.

Shared by yourefragile. Thanks Michael.

The beer is dark brown, nearing black. Small beige head. The aroma brings mint chocolate chip ice cream, Andes candies. Flavor follows suit, with some lingering roast and chocolate. Medium bodied with fairly low carbonation. Decent beer.

Had this on 2012-12-16 in Lancaster, PA at their Taproom (from tasting notes)

A - Dark brown with a 1-finger brown head and some moderate lacing.

S - Mint, chocolate, roasted grain, nuts.

T - Like chocolate chip mint ice cream atop a well-baked brownie. This is aged on fresh peppermint leaves and dark Wilbur Chocolate. There's a bit of balancing bittereness.

M - Light-medium body and medium carbonation. I expected and would have enjoyed more mouthfeel.

O - My favorite ice cream flavor is chocolate chip mint (by Breyers) so this is in my wheelhouse. Might not be everyone, but after walking 11 miles from home to the Taproom on a winter day, it was quite enjoyable.
