I have been back to Trappeze several times since my first visit a couple of years ago and it has only gotten better. They have expanded their seating greatly and added a kitchen. The food options are not extnesive, but they are good for what they are.
I was up in GA last weekend in both Atlanta and Athens. I had a chance to visit both Trappeze and the Brick Store, and at this point, I have to admit that Trappeze has become the superior of the two. It has a better tap list than the BSP and now has my vote as the best beer bar in the south, and possibly the best beer bar I have ever seen.
Original review below:
I was very impressed with this place during my first visit last night.
The atmosphere is good overall, with a nicely decorated bar featuring the usual "look, we're a beer bar" collection of brewery signs. The booths are comfortable and fairly intimate despite the surprisingly large crowd of beer lovers lingering nearby.
The service was excellent. The bartenders were knowledgeable about their products (especially the draught lineup), and service was reasonable quick considering how crowded the place was. The owners obviously care deeply about what they are doing as at least one of them was alternately out chatting up the crowd and checking on things behind the bar at all times.
The quality is good. They keep all of their bottles properly refrigerated and draught beer seems to be lovingly cared for as well. It is also worth noting that all beers are served in proper glassware, most in the specific glass from the brewery.
The selection is fantastic. They had perhaps thirty taps, and each of them poured something not just good, but either of world class quality or very unusual. The bottled selection was good as well, though not quite as impressive. I was happy to see great beers like Saison Dupont and Prima Pils as well as unique specimens such as Oscar Blues Ten Fidy with cherries and North Coast Le Merle.
I was even more impressed with the prices. While the bottle prices were about what one would expect, the draught prices were, to say the least, competitive. Many draught beers were as little as $4 and most were under $6. Considering the kind of rare and excellent beers they have on tap, these prices are downright cheap.

Trappeze is a revelation for the highest per capita bar market in the world. They've immediately swiped the high-end in town away from the Globe. The tap selection is not too far off the fabled Brick Store's. And any bar that scores a keg of Oskar Blues Ten Fidy with Cherries must be doing something right b/c I don't think they just send those kegs to anyone. Southerners should be thrilled to have this new beer landmark. And right next to one of the great music venues in America - the 40Watt. Sweet.

Finally, a place in Athens that serves some real beer! Now I don't have to wait for trips to Decatur and the Brick Store to get the good stuff on tap. I counted 27 taps and there are about 160 bottled. Nice booths if you can get them, and friendly staff. Head down to get the Oskar Blues 10 Fidy with Cherries while it's still there. I know I'm going to be coming back a lot to make sure this place stays in business. With any luck, Hot Corner will fold and this place can take over its other half so that it won't get so crowded.

Just what Athens needed a great place to drink world class beers on tap! They had abt 12,old rasputin, saison dupont,mc choufe,chimay,90 min.and indian brown dogfish. hennepin, rare vos,hop stupid-Lagunitas, Oskar blues ten-fifty,weinstephen,brooklyn-abbey ale,maudite,terrapin-rye,iba,wake-n bake, guiness, allagash, and many others. All the beers were served in there proper glassware! The vibe of the place is laid back with no loud music.Private booths with doors on them, very cool. There pricing is better than any other bars i've seen in athens. This is a must see stop for any beergeek.
