Served on tap in a 10 oz chalice glass
Appearance – Served a copper colored brew with a decent amount of red highlights shining through. Upon serving there was a half a finger white head that faded fast to give only a light amount of lacing.
Smell – The aroma was a mix of a biscuit and caramel smell. Mixed with these aromas was a light roasted malt smell as well as a lighter fruit smell of apple and pear.
Taste – The taste begins with a bready and caramel flavor. Soon some flavors of fruit come to the tongue. Some apple is initially there and is soon met with some other subtle light fruit flavors. At the end a roasted flavor mixed with an earthy hop taste come to the taste and leave a nice crisped flavor to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is quite average in creaminess as well as in carbonation. Both make it quite easy to drink and are good for the flavors and the more session style of the brew.
Overall – A fairly nice Oktoberfest brew. Nice smooth flavor transitions, a good flavor profile and a nice feel.

On tap at the brewpub.
A: The oktoberfest is a lighter copper color, transparent, with a finger plus of off-white head. Lacing followed the head.
S: Bready malts, toasted even, drive the nose. Hops? Not so much. Overall, the nose seemed to have a light maltiness and not much else.
T: The lager is malt-driven, bready with light fruits coming along for the ride. The flavors are fleeting, disappearing rather quickly. Toasted breads too, more depth of flavor. Hops aren't much of a factor, just a few counterbalancing blasts. Of the oktoberfests of the past few days, I put this one in between Otto's and Yuengling.
M: The malty sweetness is the stand-out, even if it doesn't linger. Good, although my comments from the last time around are more flattering.

On tap at Elk Creek on 9/26/09. Served in a logo mug.
A - Clear orange/medium copper-colored body with half a finger of off-white foam that settled into a patchy retention and deposited some bubbly lace around the rim of the mug.
S - Light floral hop notes backed by plenty of caramel malt and bready notes. There is also a hint of brown sugar and honey sweetness, as well as some fleshy fruit notes present.
T - Opens with a surge of caramel malt sweetness with some burnt sugars paired with a hint of floral hops. Honey and brown sugar notes further sweeten the pot. Hints of spice (cinnamon?) also emerge, followed by a bready malt finish with a hint of hop bitterness.
M - Medium bodied with a syrupy texture and moderate carbonation. Finishes quite sweet with a subtle hop bite on the back of the tongue.
D - Fine Marzen style overall that doesn't really deviate from the norm, but that's the Elk Creek way. This is simply a solid, old-fashioned session beer.
