22 oz. bottle poured into a Duvel tulip
I had the chance to get a taster of this at the MBG Winter Beer Fest a couple years back. Glad I can get a full serving now.
A- my first pour created a 1-1/2 finger brown head, the second was a little sloppy and got up to 3 or more. Retention was better on the second go,as was the lacing. Body was near jet.
S- Yep, it smells like a thin mint (or even a York peppermint patty). Lots of mint and a good deal of semi-sweet chocolate at first. The graininess almost gives the impression of that chocolate cracker/cookie in the middle. A little warmth and some coffee notes creep in.
T- Much as aroma suggests. A solid mix of chocolate and mint. Nice, roasty notes. It all comes together nicely. Flavorful, without overwhelming.
M- pretty straight forward. Medium body, and moderate carbonation. Nicely creamy.
O- I've toyed with the idea of brewing one of these for years. My only worry is getting stuck with 5 gallons if it isn't an easy drinker. RB's version is quite drinkable. 22oz. Is probably about right. Can do more than one, but I'm not drinking it all day. I'd buy it again, especially to share as somewhat of a novelty.

L = Dark enough, but faint head/lacing.
S = Pleasant but vague. Do I have a cold?
T = Good flavor, but sparse notes of chocolate, mint, and malt. Tastes like was brewed to a budget, not a taste.
F = A tad watery
O = A watered down shell of a good beer.

Smells underwhelming with hints of malt chocolate, coffee and mint. Opaque dark brown. Taste like bitter dark chocolate and mint stems. Not horrible but not good either… blah.

Fairly nice stout but, like others have pointed out in other reviews, I too would have liked a little more mint aroma and flavor. Pours a nice deep dark brown color with just a very small amount of light tan head and a trace of spotty lingering lacing. Smells of some nice mocha fudge and medium coffee, malt, a little caramel and maybe the faintest hint of mint - but I really had to search for it and I suspect I would have missed it if I didn’t know to look for it. Taste follows the nose, and again unfortunately the mint was barely detectable - more like a hit of slightly sweet refreshing carbonation. Smooth mild mouthfeel, not too sticky or thick, decent carbonation. Not bad, just a little disappointing for its lack of mint.

I was a little apprehensive at first, Mint? really?? But I was quickly won over, this is really a tasty stout.
The smell is absolutely excellent, it has a very light and fresh smell that doesn't immediately jump out as mint. The taste is exceptionally smooth with a light chocolate flavor and just the faintest hint of a mint flavor. Very nice and easy to drink, it is pretty mild for a stout. It also has a relatively light mouthfeel that nicely matches the overall style. This is not a strong heavy beer, it goes down easily any time of day.
I'm a major fan of this one, great job Right Brain!

Deep cocoa brown bordering on black body. Muddy opaque. Decent mid-brown head settles in to a tough but fair cap that doesn't seem to have any plans on going anywhere anytime soon.
Nose is primarily standard stout fare: deeply roasty malts with just a hint of char and coffee maybe a tad of chocolate like sweet, and a fleeting breathe of fresh spearmint leaves.
Same thing on the tongue: roasty malts bordering on char, maybe a touch of bitter coffee, but the mint is even less prevalent here than on the nose. Less flavour and more just kind of a fresh note to the finish. Which is too bad because I was really looking forward to that component.
Body is on the thinner side and aggressively carbonated,. Almost soda-esque, but bigger bubbles. Finish carries elements of bitter dark malts and a freshness that I ascribe to the 'mint' but that all fades in due order.
If this hadn't been labeled as a mint stout, I would think it's a nice, but unassuming basic stout. The promise on the label got my hopes up a bit, which shouldn't necessarily change the objective portion of the review, but just don't go in thinking you're going to be getting liquid thin mints (which I was kind of secretly hoping for).
Glad to have tried it (thanks Brian!) and would gladly drink it if someone handed it to me, but seeing as that's unlikely, this will probably be my only experience with it.

Not as flavorful as you are led to believe
Pours black. Short, foamy, tan head that Fades fast.
Smells roast malt, light coffee and chocolate and mint hints.
Taste roast malts, dark chocolate, earthy and light mint. Mint lingers for a while. Finishes dry with a mint and coffee linger. Medium body and medium carbonation.

I tried this at Pete's Place in Taylor, MI. It poured an opaque dark with thin tan head that left a nice ring lace. The scent had some roast and touch of mint. The taste started toasty then finishes with some mint. The mouthfeel is lighter in body with good carbonation. Overall it was an interesting stout.
