Looks very clear, but is far more orange than red. Looks like the color of, say, Triaminic. Has a nice head that looks like it might leave a lace.

Has a buttery smell that seems to have a nice hop/malt balance. Quite butterscotchy. Smells very sweet but in a smooth, buttery way. Not saccharine sweetness. Possibly has wet hops?

Excellent, slightly bitter citrusy hop flavor but with a pleasant mild hop balance. The ringwood yeast is very prominent. Has a buttery finish with no hop bite. Strong yeast aftertaste.

Very smooth flavor and feel. Doesn't have the typical German/amber malt bite I usually expect. Unusually silky. I think I really like this one. Has a nice hoppy/malty balance. Slightly sweet taste. Very appealing.

I had this poured from tap, into a frozen glass, too cold to taste, too cold to enjoy. The next one was served in the same glass and it was good. Nice head that left some lacing. Copper colored ale that was not overwhelming in the mouth, the oats are the predominant note in this beer and I could taste the breadiness. I enjoyed it.

Enjoyed at Longfellows Inn in Saratoga Springs, NY, this red ale is a deep copper-red color with an off-white, decent sized head and very full lacing. The aroma offers a nice malt-apple-whisky medley. The tongue picks up a pleasant lemon apple-wheat with nutmeg-malt with a great dry wood finish. Better than average for this style. The body is medium light with modest carbonation and mellow, crisp feel. Very much a decent brew and worth a try.

Bottle purchased at Oliver's Beverage in Albany, NY. Freshness dated. Pours reddish brown with medium head. Malty aroma. Thin body - biscuity flavor - didn't seem quite balanced in terms of flavor. No strog aftertaste. A very average Red Ale - glad I didn't buy a 6-pack.

Pours a clean orange-ish to copper color with an off white head. In the aroma, a mellow caramel roasted malt. In the the taste, caramel roast and a grapefruit citrus rinds. A small hop bite and a medium to lighter bodied mouthfeel, with a dry grapefruit rind in the aftertaste. Kind of standard in the beginning and big hops in flavor, quite nice.

Served in a pint glass at baileys pub in saratoga

A: pours a transparent red with a slight golden tint. Pours with an inch of frothy head that dissipates, leaves a nice amount of lacing

S: nice sweet scent with a slight hop note

T: sweet taste with a slight woody finish

D/M: smooth on the pallet, slight carbonation, leaves a slight woody taste on the tongue

Off tap at the brewery this beer was a clear, bright orange color with one finger of khaki-colored head. The retention was good but the lacing scant. The aroma was acceptable, a light blend of caramel malt, bread and some hints of nuts. The flavors were quite similar with the sweet malt, bready malt and caramel malt combining nicely to create the distinctive sugar cookie flavor typical of the style. Baked goods! The nuttiness and a medium bitterness were also detected on my pallet. The body was medium, the carbonation good and the mouthfeel average.

On tab at the brewpub, seved in a pint glass

Nice amber coloring, foamy head about 1 finger. Nice lacing and retention. Malty aroma, not much else to the smell, but the taste was smooth and a nice silky mouthfeel. As much as I enjoyed the taste, this is a very drinkable beer. A good session beer in my opinion, and will be the next growler refill I get. I am not familiar with the style, but it was a well balanced, tasty beer.

This is another favorite on the brothers menu, I have really liked 3 of 4 beers from the brewpub

pours a nice golden color with red highlights and a tall off white head that has some pretty impressive staying power. the aroma isn't quite as impressive as the appearance, with a decent sweet malt character and a faint piney hop presence, it leads into the taste quite well, where the fruity esters and hoppy bitterness at the end really come through. it has a nice medium body that's well balanced by the co2. an easy drinker to say the least. at a nice 5% ABV according to the beer menu I could have a few.

Nice red color but almost no head; just a touch of a white rim. There is a light touch of biscuit malt in the nose. Flavor is very light, almost macro like. A touch of malt is there but not nearly enough. Very light bodied. Drinkability is pretty poor indoors but might be nice outside on a hot day. A let down for Davidson as their brown is pretty damn good.

The beer pours a ruby red color with a thin off-white head that fades to lacing. The aroma is great. It has a very nice malty scent that is enhanced with some excellent aroma hops. The taste is good. It has a strong bitter hop bite which is mellowed out with a strong malty core. It goes down smooth and finishes with a bitter aftertaste. The mouthfeel is fine. It is a medium bodied beer with adequate carbonation. This is a good Irish red. It has good malt character and wonderful hop qualities.

I first had this beer 4 years or so ago at the Brew Pub. I have always liked Red/ Amber Ales and this is one of my favorites.
Clear, deep amber color with a dense, clotted cream head. Chunks of lace cling to the rim, high above the beer. Moderate carbonation supports excellent head retention.
Too cold at first... aroma of light caramel and floral hop.
More caramel malt flavors up front. I enjoy the husky, raw grain character that meshes with the sweet bread and sprucey hop flavors. Body and complexity really come thru as it warms. Not quite medium bodied ; more of a Super Welter weight.
Finish is a great balance of candied hops with a mellow lingering bitterness.
Mixes great with Davidson Bros. Oat Stout!
