Pours a copper colored guiness, with a nice settling effect. Takes good time to develop, nice and slow, creating a beautiful tan head. A nice reddish copper color, it is a very pretty beer. The nose is very malty, and the rye comes through loud and clear. They claim to use magnum hops in the brew. I don't know what "magnum" hops are, never heard of them before, but I did not note any distinctly hop aroma.

The taste has a good rye flavor, that you would be expecting from the smell. I thought this was somewhat bitter, although they bill it as a s "moo" th beer. I think theyt might have overdone the rye aspect, hence the bitterness. That lingered in the mouth after finishing.

Overall, a solid beer. I did not want another one, but that could have been my mood, and not a comment on the beer itself.

Off tap this beer was a clear gold color with one finger of off-white head. It retained its head as a thin layer and left thin lacing as well. The aroma was mostly of rye sweetness; not a lot to speak of but that's par for the 'cream ale' course. The flavors were bitter at first in an organic, root-like way. But then the middle was full of rye malt which brought some sweetness with it along with a little citrus rind from the hops towards the end. The mouthfeel was creamy, the body medium and the carbonation low.

Thanks to littlebreeze and mred137

A: That nice classic cream ale look. The only down side was it was from a growler so it did not have much head. Super deep yellow just shy of being copper in color.

S: Nice sweetness in the nose. The rye is in the back but definitely there. Kind of a tight nose but cream ales are not know for their nose.

T: Big surprise. The cream ale is up front. The curve is that wonderful rye in the finish. Very subtle at first then it just keeps building leaving this long rye finish.

M: It is creamy. Since it is a growler the carbonation is down a bit. On tap this would be heavenly.

D: Just like grandpa used to drink. Nice modern take on a classic. Never would have thought rye would add something to a cream ale but it did. Really nice beer. Going to have to get up to the brewery one of these days.
