On tap at Churchkey. Served in a mini snifter. Pours a hazy bright yellow color with a nice, fluffy white head. The nose brings forward fairly-strong notes of pineapple along with some underlying coconut. Fairly intense and well integrated. The flavor takes it up another step, as in addition to the fruit, there’s an underlying wheat character that actually tastes like beer. With the nose, I was afraid that this was just going to taste no different than an actual pina colada. Body is light and very refreshing. I could drink this all day. By far my favorite of the event.

Draft at Woody's in Philadelphia, PA.

Pours a cloudy golden yellowish-orange color with a one finger frothy white head that quickly settles into a lasting ring. Sporadic streaks and spots of lace left behind.

The aroma of this beer is pretty outrageous. It smells exactly like a piña colada minus the rum. Bursting with tropical fruit notes yet still has subtle characteristics of a wheat beer. There's a lot of pineapple and coconut along with subtle citrus, bread and zesty spice. This brewery does an amazing job of nailing the aroma of these sweet/dessert beers and this is no exception. I was expecting it to faintly smell like a tropical drink but the coconut milk presence is really strong. Nicely done.

Unfortunately, the flavor doesn't quite live up to the aroma. It's still very good but the tropical piña colada elements dominate the flavor to the point where the wheat beer notes are barely evident and it hardly tastes like a beer anymore. Lots of tropical pineapple sweetness and a very prominent coconut/coconut milk flavor. These two balance each other out so it never becomes to sweet and it tastes like a virgin piña colada with a splash of beer in it. Very flavorful but I wish that the wheat beer elements were more evident.

On draft at Churchkey in D.C.

The beer is very hazy and straw yellow colored with nearly a half inch of white head. The aroma brings sweet tropical fruits, particularly pineapple and coconut. Pretty remarkable - this truly smells like a piña colada. The flavor also bears a striking resemblance to the mixed drink for which it was named. Sweet, yet not cloying. Fruit forward and refreshing. An interesting beer and an impressive feat of brewing. Not something I would consume in quantity, but a brew I highly recommend sampling, should you have the opportunity.

This beer is maybe the most crazy thing I had from funky Buddha at the churchkey event because of the flavors and aromas they infused into a beer, it's wild!

The look is very good, has a perfect wheat beer look color wise having a straw color and nice head/lacing.

The smell is amazing, tons of fresh pineapple and coconut...amazing how they did that with beer, just a little wheat undertones as well. The taste follows the smell exactly, with some more wheat and yeast than the smell but it is still dominated by pineapple and coconut though it isn't overly sweet either. Super refreshing and reminds me of the tropics.

The feel is ok and carbonation is there compared to other funky Buddha beers. Overall, I found myself just asking 'how did they do this?' while drinking this. Remarkable!

Probably the best beer of the night, served in a snifter at Churchkey in DC at the Funky Buddha event. Beer is yellow and hazy, very hazy, white head, big white bubbles, some lacing, moderate carbonation, looks good.

Aroma is pineapple and coconut.

Beer is light and airy on the palate, sweet with fruit and a nice wet finish. I enjoyed this beer more than the others from this brewery and would have this again.

On tap at Churchkey the other night. It was a cloudy, golden yellow color with a sticky, thin lacing to it.

The aroma shows a lot of juicy pineapple to it along with a touch of coconut. I get a little tartness to it with some citrus rind qualities. Pretty nice aroma overall.

The taste shows even more of the juicy pineapple flavors. I get a little bitter citrus in the finish as well. Again, there is a touch of coconut, but it's not over done. The juicy, fruity flavors were very good.

The mouthfeel is on the thinner side with moderate carbonation. Overall it was a pretty good and interesting beer. They did a good job with the Piña Colada inspired flavors as well as balancing them with each other. The juicy, pineapple flavors really stood out for me as well.

From 06/07/12 notes. Had on tap at Churchkey in DC at their FB event.

a - Pours a murky yellow color with one inch of bright white head and low to moderate carbonation evident.

s - Smells amazing again, just like a piña colada. Smell of pineapples, coconuts, cream, vanilla, milk, and tropical fruits. Once again they nail the nose here.

t - Tastes of sweet coconuts, pineapple juice, tropial fruit juices, bread, and wheat. Again, not quite as strong as the nose, and more wheat. A big step down for me.

m - Light body and moderate carbonation. Very easy to drink.

o - Overall another cool novelty beer from Funky Buddha. Nose nails it perfectly, though the taste has a lot of wheat and is more like pineapple juice. Cool to try and another must try if you like piña coladas.

I had this on-tap at Churchkey in DC. Poured into a snifter.

Appearance: Pours a cloudy golden color with two fingers of white head and beautiful lacing.

Smell: Reminds me of a pina colada. Coconut, pineapple, and other tropical fruit. Very light and refreshing.

Taste: Light and crisp with lots of coconut and pineapple. This one is easy to drink and just a bit sweet.

Mouthfeel: Medium to light body with tingly carbonation and a dry finish.

Overall: This would be a wonderful warm weather beer. So light and refreshing. I'd love to have more.

On Tap at Hulmeville Inn.

Interesting concept for a beer with ingredients and a beer style that seems like a perfect match. Color is a deep yellow with some faded orange appeal. Like Bonita, this had plenty of bubble activity and a firm white head. A firm wheat scent with some apple, coconut and minimal malt backing. Smelled like the real deal. Taste like a pina colada, although a light one, not heavy on the alcohol. Pale wheat in the back, small malt flavor. Light and refreshing beer. Im not sure but I think I ordered a 2nd one. Very easy going beer with flavor which i my forte.

On tap at ChurchKey.

Pours a hazy straw color with a fluffy white head. The smell is exactly as the name would suggest - pina colada! It's a great blend of coconut and pineapple. Flavor is quite nice, but the more I drink of it, the less I want. It barely tastes like a beer and instead like a blend of fruit juices. Mouthfeel is light-bodied with nice carbonation. Overall, like No Crusts, this beer works extremely well as an experiment and is unlike any beer I've ever had before. The flavors are authentic and it's impressively done. My only complaint is that the novelty wears off quickly and I'm not dying to have more after my 4 oz. pour is finished.

Had on-tap at Woody's in Philadelphia, PA. Poured a hazy pale yellow color with a fluffy white head that receded slowly, leaving minimal streaky lacing. Looked and smelled like pina colada mixer, for the most part. Pineapple and coconut with a faint hint of wheat come through in the taste. Definitely a very refreshing brew. Sweet, but appropriately so considering what the concept of this beer is. Fizzy and light, I almost forgot I was drinking a beer. A great beer for the summer months...the brewery definitely hit the mark with this one.

First had: on tap at Woody's, Philly, PA

Bright yellow pour, cloudy, with a small cap of bubbly white head. Aroma was, well, of a pina colada, kinda sweet like what you'd get from a water ice. Taste followed the nose, with what was essentially a pina colada mixed drink in beer form, pineapple blended with coconut, sugar sweetness. Cool and refreshing, fruity and extremely easy to drink. You could put ice in this and garnish it with a little umbrella and it would be nearly indistinguishable from the actual mixer. I guess that could be either a good thing or a bad thing, depending on how you look at it, in that this hardly resembled a beer in any way. The more conservative drinker might say, "If I wanted a pina colada, I'd just get one." However, I gotta give credit to the brewer for making this beer. I don't know how he could possibly get a beer to taste like this, and I don't want to know. All I know is I want more.

"I don't normally drink Pina Coladas, but when I do, I prefer them as wheat beers."

On tap at Hulmeville Inn for the Funky Buddha/Cigar City event during Philly Beer week. Color was lighter than I expected for a wheat beer, and did have a light to fair amount of cloudyness to it.

Smelled what I'd find to be very similar to the taste: strong pineapple and coconut, but not a heavy wheat presence.

Taste was refreshing. First was the pineapple and coconut along with a surprising amount of sweetness, and ended with a nice tart snap. While sweet, it was very drinkable (maybe akin to a summer shandy type beverage). I did not detect very much wheat flavor if any.

Mouthfeel was very effervescent, almost like a hard cider. The head stuck around for the majority of the time of consumption.

I wasn't sure what to think when ordering this one, but I was very pleasantly surprised. This would be great on a summer day by a pool or on a beach. Someone please buy Funky Buddha a large-scale brewery.
