On tap at EBF 2012. I just wrote a long review and then lost it due to Internet issues so I'll be brief.
A: a reggie brown ale, small white head.
S: OMGWTFBBQPBJ it smells like a PB&J's all day, it's crazy you just need to smell it to get how much it smells like it.
T: well, PB&J and that's it really, it's so overwhelming that I couldn't get anything else.
M: a bit light and crisp, but the flavor is what this beer is about so it's fairly appropriate.
O: amazing, never had another brew like it.

On tap at the St. Petersburg Cask Ale Festival.
A - Dark brownbody with a sizable head and good retention and lacing.
S - Smells like peanut butter and a hint of jelly. How do these breweries make these gimmicky beers? There's also a hint of tobacco in the aroma.
T - Jelly! Peanut butter from the nose and jelly in the taste. Really does taste like peanut butter and jelly. A little bitter in the finish, but still remarkable.
M - Light-medium bodied with medium carbonation. It has a lingering dryness. I get the feeling that a lot of these spiced, weird tasting beers will be a bit dry.
O - Smells like peanut butter and tastes like jelly. Good for what it is, but it's still a gimmick.

edit: new bottle.... Thanks Ryan. Scores tweaked. Initial review still listed below.
Pour looks the same. Smells peanut buttery and lots and lot of jelly. Much betteer aroma. Tastes like a great peanut butter and jelly sandwich. Overall the mouthfeel is a bit rough Overly carbonated but great.
I've gone back and forth between uploading this and not but I feel I have to...
Pours a typical brown with some light tan head. Looks pretty standard. Smells peanut butter heavy. Tough of bitterness with some sweet jelly hiding behind. The aroma is pleasant and definitely unique.
The taste however... not so good. I struggle with how to rate this. I'm not sure if it was a bad bottle or just not my cup of tea. the jelly is non existant (only detectable if I really look for it). Peanut butter that's almost burnt and bitter. Highly carbonated and a bit abrasive because of it.
Disappointing given how amazing maple bacon was but then again... not everything can be a hit

Growler thanks to Josh!
Had this on tap at EBF, honestly almost exactly as I remembered -- maybe a little better. Light brown / copper body leaving good lace. Intense peanut aroma, reminiscent of freshly ground nuts. Not much sweetness here; grape jelly is still mild but shows up later. Love the aroma!
Peanuts with minimal salt compose the flavor. Grape jelly is an afterthought, serving as an accent to everything else going on here. Quite interesting, unique, and enjoyable. Can't drink more than a few oz of this, but it's a great experience in a glass -- particularly if you home brew.

After opening this begins to gush at a rapid pace. Not a good sign generally. Looks like cola with a small head.
Aroma is...a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. WITH crusts....shame on you for false advertising haha
The flavor is bready and metallic with slight notes of jam and peanuts. I like the peanut and jelly flavor, but those metallic notes kill it. I assume that it is probably a result of time spent in the bottle (much like Short's bottle failures) and is better fresh from the source. I would advise that this one is not bottled anymore.
The body is thin to medium and appropriate for a brown ale.
Overall, the beer I am drinking is just not that good. I would love to try a keg at the source though.

Served on tap into a snifter at Capones
A- pours dark brown, with no head on it. Huh.
S- aroma is strong with peanuts, and the nutty character is great
T- starts off sweet with the jelly taste, with the peanut butter flavors also coming through. Actually getting a little bit of cocoa in the finish.
M- very thin body...probably good, given how strong the flavors are
O- if you're looking for a PBJ beer, this will do it for you. It's a nice novelty, but I'm not sure I could really drink more than one in a sitting

From tap to snifter at ChurchKey DC on 6/7/12
*From notes
A: Chill hazy amber in hue. Kinda looks like a Rauchbier, if that was something a beer can actually look like. No real head, collar or lacing are present.
S: Boiled peanuts, which is one of my least favorite things in the world. Tea leaves follow, as does a hint of milk cocoa. As it warms, the "boiled" characteristics wear off a bit, and this does come around to being a bit more balanced. A very, very faint touch of red fruit lingers back there somewhere.
T: Peanuts, and lots of 'em. I'm also getting a bit of warm bath water. I doubt that was intentional. The mid to finish showcases some grape-like qualities. And it lingers. Some earth, and a bit of vine fruit sticks around after each sip. The biggest issue with the flavor profile is the lack of freshness. It's like a PB&J that's been sitting in my fridge for a few days, not just freshly made.
M: As with all of the FB beers this evening, this is yet again thin and undercarbonated. The lack of real texture or body puts a hurtin' on this one.
O: Not quite the stunner I was expecting. There's nothing directly wrong with the nose or flavors here, yet this isn't as expressive as I would have liked. A decent gimmick beer, no more.

A-redish brown hue with a nice bit of head
S-smells like grape jelly! Little bit of peanut butter but not much
T-little bit of crunchiness hand a good bit of jelly. Gets word as it warms up. Drink it pretty cold
M-medium body ans smooth with a dry finish
O-very good. Nice representation of the name.

Another very interesting beer from funky Buddha that I could only drink in small doses....had on tap at the churchkey event on 6/7.
The beer pours a dark crimson with some brown in the center of the beer, a ring of head as well. The smell is crazy, it really smells like when you open your lunch bag of pb and j, they capture the bread, peanut, and touch of sweetness of some kind of jelly perfectly.
The taste is dominated by peanut, and I do enjoy it, some bready malt undertones and some sweetness round it out, no hops to speak of whatsoever. I don't really get any kind of 'jelly' but the beer still seems pb and j like with the sweetness.
The feel is slick and decent in body, overall this beer is good in small doses but there is no way I could have drank more than the taster of 6oz or so that I got.

Thanks to dboon for this one.
A-Pours hazy nut brown with over 2 inches of foamy khaki head. Takes a few minutes to recede, and leaves only the faintest traces of lacing.
S-Remarkably similar to a whole wheat peanut butter and jelly sandwich. They nailed it. I wouldn't mistake this for anything else.
T/M-Again, peanut butter and jelly. They actually did it! I'm impressed. Mid-palate the peanut butter and jelly flavors fade into the flavor profile of a standard nut brown ale. Medium bodied, with moderate carbonation and a chunky peanut butter finish.
O-Great beer. Would love to get some more bottles.

Let me preface by saying the brewer was really cool and nice enough to pour me a sample of this from kegs they were saving! Awesome!
A: a nice medium brownish red with a slight murkiness to it. A small white head that fades quickly. Good.
S: its crazy! I get jelly upfront followed by a nutty peanut butter type flavor, I'm guessing from some roasted malts. I get some breadiness on the back! I cannot dispute that this smells like a peanut butter and jelly sandwich! Amazing!
T: I get a slight bitterness followed by a mild sweetness that is almost like a light jelly. I then get a nutty peanut butter and bready wall on the backend, but not at all cloying. Great beer! Exactly as advertised.
M: medium body with a fantastic carbonation. A nutty mild bitter finish. Very good!
O: first beer I've reviewed from them. It may sound weird, but this tastes amazing! This tastes exactly like a PB&J sandwich! Definitely try if you get the chance. Quality coming out of this small operation!

From notes, tried at Jackie O's recent release. thanks Cam
A - mostly clear brown/red body, a film of tan foam on top.
S - peanut butter and jelly, a bit of earth, and a bit of grass. It's incredible how much of a very clear peanut butter smell you get.
T - some sweet jelly notes, a bit of earthy PB, a hint of chocolate. It doesn't work very well in the taste.
M - light, a bit dry, ok.
O - really interesting, and not at all bad.

S-peanuts, yeasty bread
T-peanut butter, toasted bread, and some sweetness (jelly), not much else of note

On-Tap at the Funky Buddha Lounge during their Buddha Goes Wild Night last week. Served in a 12oz Funky Buddha snifter.
A- Fairly dark in the lounge, but from what I can tell it appears to be a fairly dark Brown with a slight purplish hue to it. A thin layer of head forms that recedes at a moderate pace.
S- Wow this smells exactly like a PB&J sandwich, lots of peanut butter, bread crust, and Welch's Grape Jelly. Perfectly balanced, very aromatic, and extremely well executed for what they were going for.
T- Again tastes like the aroma with lots of peanut butter, Grape Jelly, and even a little bit of bread crust coming out. Well balanced, very flavorful, and quite tasty if you like peanut butter and jelly.
M- Medium bodied, easily drinkable, decent carbonation, fairly smooth.
O- I wouldn't say this was my favorite beer I've had or something that I would drink all the time, but definitely one of the more unique and enjoyable ones I've experienced. I think the execution on this was superb and they nailed the peanut butter and jelly smell/taste right to the tee. The best comparison I could make with this is with Jelly Belly jelly beans, it' amazing how they can make it taste so much like the real thing. I wouldn't say this beer is for everyone but I definitely recommend checking it out especially if you are looking for a unique interesting beer or you just like PB&J sandwiches.

12oz bottle into a wine glass. Sent from a generous friend in Florida; bottled last week I believe.
Appearance: Free pour yields a one inch offwhite head that dissipates slowly and lacelessly. Pours a semi-translucent dark red brown and leaves spotty lacing.
Smell: Immediately upon opening the bottle, I'm struck by the dead on "peanut butter and jelly sandwich" aroma coming out of it. I let my friend smell it before pouring it and she was as enthusiastic-spectator-at-magic-show impressed as I was.
In the glass it retains that strong peanut butter with ambiguous berry jelly background aroma for the life of the beer, along with a nice effervescence. As straightforward as the smell is, it's very enticing (and *strong*; it doesn't mellow out with time, it stays bold and good).
Taste: Less jelly and more peanut butter (especially up front), with those flavors more subdued than in the smell, and bolstered by a mild, chocolaty maltiness. Fruit comes out more in the aftertaste, while a steady peanut butter note pervades everything.
The story here is the balance... it's just bitter enough, and the dryness and highish carbonation work really well. Underneath the peanut butter and jelly, there's a solid, straightforward and well made American brown ale here.
The flavor transcends the obvious novelty value (which is still kind of a wow factor anyway), and ends up as a beer I'd like to drink a lot of-- exactly what you wouldn't expect from a novelty beer. It never gets cloying, or yields an "Alright, I get it, now let's open up a *real* beer!" moment. This is a real beer, and a delicious one.
Mouthfeel: Light side of medium bodied. High carbonation and somewhat dry finish, both of which work well. My friend commented that she thought it needed more body, but I think the lightness helps it stay "quaffable" instead of getting overpowering in any way.
Overall: I loved this beer. It sounded gimmicky, but it's so spot on that the negative connotations of 'gimmicky' fail to obtain. Not only does it nail peanut butter and jelly, but it nails how "experimental beer" should be; it's not a joke, or a simple trick. It's a great brown ale, with a substantial peanut butter note in the flavor and a huge peanut butter and jelly aroma (my friend had to make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich after I let her smell the glass and try a couple sips).
I know this brewery is getting a lot of hype right now... I hope the hype carries them to expansion, because I want to try more of their beer. This beer is good enough to be a fridge staple for me-- not "I would gladly buy this again," but "I would make a serious effort not to be without it this in my fridge," which is not light praise. If I lived in Boca Raton, I would be a fixture at Funky Buddha.

On-tap at the brewery. Poured into a FB snifter.
A: Pretty standard for a brown ale. Brown with slight purple highlights. A finger of sand colored head appears, retains well, and leaves some nice lace.
A: WTF! This is a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, not a beer. Huge notes of sweet peanuts, slight biscuity malt, and grape jelly.
T: What can I say? It tastes like a PB&J. This is just insane!
M: Medium body, good levels of carbonation deliver the flavors nicely.
O: The only knock I can give this beer is the drinkability. Probably couln't have more than a couple due to the sweetness, but overall this is outstanding. One of the more original brews I've had. The Buddah is brewing up some kick ass originality. Skal.

Served on-tap into a 5.5 oz snifter at Capone's. Funky Buddha event for Philly Beer Week.
A: Dark amber colored body with some brownish hues throughout the body. The darker color gives this one a hazy looking appearance, nothing much to see through. A small off-white head was there but gone quickly. Little retention and lace.
S: Toasted white bread, grape jelly, chunky peanut butter, oil and a general buttery aroma. It's literally dead-on to the incarnation of a PB&J sandwich. Not as potent as I would have expected but still really nice smelling.
T: It took a few sips to get all the flavors. Like others have stated, it almost was like it separated into different layers. Perhaps the oils from the peanuts caused this? At any rate, big crusty, bready flavors up front along with a sweet grape jelly. Towards the bottom was creamy, nutty peanut butter. Not too sweet and just downright delicious.
M: Nicely carbonated, medium-bodied, oily and a bit of stick from the fruit sweetness. For the ABV and style, this seemed just about right.
My only comparison to a PB&J beer is from Spring House Brewing Company and they're both awesome incarnations of the classic childhood sandwich. An absolute must try if you get the chance. Thanks for sending the awesome beers to Philly guys!

vOn tap at the Treasure Coast Beerfest
A – Nice cola brown pour with a finger of frothy light tan head that stayed around.
S – Big roasty peanut butter smell. Some bread smell. Don’t get much jelly in the aroma.
T – Wow straight off the bat you get a huge peanut butter taste. Tastes like a freshly opened can of Peter Pan. Roasty and almost chewy. Bit of jelly like sweetness mixes in but is overwhelmed by the peanuts. Bready finish to round out the taste.
M – Medium to heavy bodied with a creamy texture that coats the mouth.
O – Had big expectations here and this lived up to the hype. Retained a beer taste but still had a great PB&J taste. Very nice offering from the guys at the Buddha.

Review from notes from tonight.
bottle thanks to my awesome girlfriend...split with ericandersnavy.
Label says no crusts, so this entry needs to be corrected. I have submitted it.
Poured a nice brown with about a finger of head...
The nose was.. a huge letdown. it honestly smelled like bean sprouts with a bit of peanut in there.... There was a fresh "green" aroma I could only link to the smell of bean sprouts, or alfalfa sprouts. There was a hint of raspberry... which I could say was jelly.
Taste was very sweet in the front, and finished a bit on the tart side. In the middle there was peanut flavor, but again, it seemed like fresh peanut flavor, green... eric said it best when he said it seemed like boiled peanuts. If anyone is from the south, it tasted like the boiled peanut water. No jelly at all. To be honest, i got mustard on the finish. Does anyone put mustard on a PB and J? I dont eat them, so I dont know, but I assume not.
The mouthfeel was great, I cant remember the last time I had something with such tiny carbonation! it was like an explosion in my mouth, fantastic!
Overall though, this was a huge letdown. I was expecting so much, and got so little in return. I am glad actually have someone I tried this with that will rate it though...
Maybe I had a bad bottle? I dont know, but from their other offerings i have tried and rated, this was a huge letdown.

22oz bottle into a pint glass. Pour reveals a reddish-brown color with a tan head. Foam reduces to a thin cap that is present throughout.
The smell is chunky, nutty peanut butter with a huge dose of jam. It captures the essence of a PB&J much moreso than our friends at Short's did.
The taste is pretty heavy on strawberry jam while cold. It tastes almost like licking a knife after spreading jam on white bread. Not near as enticing as the aroma leads on. As it warms, you get much of the salty, now creamy peanut spread on the front end and slight jam on the back end. Definitely better as you sip. There's a nice white bread crust element I'm picking up as well.
This beer is perfectly carbonated and very drinkable. All in all, this is a treat. No problems polishing off the bomber and I would drink again if the opportunity arises.

On tap at ChurchKey.
Pours a dark brown with a thin off-white head. The smell on this beer is absolutely phenomenal - as pretty much everyone has said, it smells exactly like a peanut butter and jelly sandwich in an incredible way. The flavor isn't quite as impressive, and I wish there was more jelly going on. The peanut really takes over the flavor and mixes nicely with the bread-y malt. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with nice carbonation. Overall, this beer earns an A+ for creativity. It's not a beer I'd want to drink a ton of, but a 4 oz. pour was perfect. Honestly, if it had more grape in the flavor, this beer might be amazing, instead it was an impressively successful experiment.

12 oz. bottle into my Duvel tulip. Ryan, should I ever find myself in Boca, the first few rounds are on me. Reviewed from notes.
Pour is dark caramel, almost maroon. A half-finger tan head lasts for a minute or so. A lot of bubbles in my glass, it looks almost soda-like at first glance. Minimal lacing. There are quite a few bits of suspended yeast floating around.
It smells like peanuts. But then jam! I swear I can smell crust, but it may very well be psychomatic. Really though, it’s true: this is a dead ringer for a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. The sweet fruit aromas of the jelly are counterbalanced by the earthy, buttery, salty peanuts. I just want to keep smelling, and I can’t get my nose away from the glass.
Peanuts are very upfront in the taste, but I’m far more impressed by the bread-like quality. After about ten minutes of warming up, I could absolutely detect a hint of jelly. It’s an unmistakable flavor of berries – strawberries? – squarely in the middle of my tongue. That sweet fruit helps this beer live up to its namesake, but also adds a wonderful balance that pulls the taste together. This just gets better and better with each sip.
From my initial pour, I had a feeling this beer might be a little overcarbonated. I’m glad to say that my suspicion was unfounded. The carbonation level is perfect, and this medium-bodied beer is creamy and smooth, like a wonderful dessert.
For what it's worth, I thought this absolutely crushed Short's Uber Goober. The incorporation of fruit into this beer is masterful, and though this could have easily veered off into novelty territory it is harmoniously balanced. Ryan, you are a gentleman and, just as important, an alchemist.

Poured into my Darkness snifter.
Brown caramel colored liquid. Thick khaki colored head. Giant amounts of it. Immediately points to high carbonation. When it finally settles down the lacing is clinging to glass for dear life. Smell is of peanuts. Nothing spectacular. I read the concept of this beer. Peanut butter and jelly. Yea, right? Well it tasted more like metal and vegetables. Horribly muddled. This just can't be right. The beer was so highly carbonated. Like foam in your mouth.
Even though this bottle was bad I am rating the beer as I had it. If I get another in the future I will re-rate it. So for now, this is one awful beer.

Nose: Ughh Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwich (Peanuts, Fruit, Bread)
No Crusts was released June 10th at the Funky Buddha in Boca Raton, FL.
This is exactly what a Peanut Butter and Jelly Beer should taste like. The nose leads to strong peanut butter with a slight hint of fruit. The taste has a nice attack of Jelly then then followed by the attack of the peanuts.
Unlike other beer that I have had with “peanut” flavoring, this beer doesn’t lay around and linger on your palate.
A true treat.
While I wouldn't be able to drink a bunch of these in one sitting, I will say that there isn't a single thing I would change about this beer.

On tap at the Funky Buddha event at Capones today. Poured into a small snifter approximately 5.5 ounces in size.
A - Reddish brown with a small head that leaves no real lacing. Hard to get an accurate read, in that a lot of the glasses were per-poured so that the beer had settled somewhat when it arrived.
S - Not overpowering by any means. Aroma of earthy peanuts and not much else. To be honest, somewhat disappointing a bit. Not much else and certainly no jelly or grape characteristics from what I could make out.
T - Typical brown ale with taste of chalky, earthy peanut. Had a couple of these at different temps and not very different warmer or colder. Good but nothing extra- ordinary or over the top when compared to their porter at the event. Wanted something more out of this whether it be richness, depth, or another layer of flavor involved. For me, a traditional brown ale with a peanut infusion behind it.
M - Nice but nothing noteworthy, a tad thinning.
O - A nice beer but out of the four offered, I had this number three of the four and that is only because I am not a hop person so the ginger IPA ranks fourth by default. A great event today, thanks Matt and the gang frm FB. Please come back again!
