May 2010 tapping, on French Oak barrels.
A: medium amber, puffy inviting head, long lasting, nice lace windows.
S: Bourbony, slighly boozy. Malty..
T: Vanilla, bourbon-ish booze comes in front. Sweet Belgian candi sugar is there, along with a nice little hit of malt. Man, this is good beer.
M: Medium body, surprising refreshing, for the style.
D: Went down WAY too easy. These guys should be proud of this effort!

Lightly clouded golded with a small stack of white suds. Retention is minimal, but some lace pops up.
Pepper nose, with a notable dried herb hop bouquet, some crackery pils maltiness, and a banana bread/clove/ allspice yeast persona. I'm intrigued.
It begins dryish through the mouth. Crusty bread, soup crackers, and hay. Yeast adds traces of banana and cloves, and general doughiness, swinging it a bit sweeter. Hops bring pressed flowers and herbs and peppercorns, with a biting, bitter edge. The hops are definitely US inspired. No alcohol is ever noted.
It drinks on the small side of medium, with enough CO2 to usher it down the through, but with enough restraint to prevent it from seeming gassy.
I like this a lot. The dry-sweet-dry cadence works well here. There are elements of Wheat beers (both Wit and Hefeweizen), Belgian Golden/Tripels, and the hoppiness of a American Pale done with respect to its other facets.

Some good friends picked me up a growler of the Tempt from Red Eye...let's give it a go.
A - A fairly aggressive pour yielded a one finger white foamy head that receded somewhat quickly into a thin white layer of froth that left some wisps of lacing down the inside of the glass. The brew is a clear yellow color.
S - The nose was sweet, seems like I get hints of banana, clove and lemon grass.
T & M - Malty backbone with a slight banana flavor and a spicy hop backbite. Not real high on the IBU scale, the hops are just a finishing touch. I also get a hint of the clove I perceived in the nose. Medium bodied mouthfeel, almost feels slick or oily, but finishes pretty clean. Carbonation is on the low end.
D - Although not especially sessionable, this is an enjoyable brew. One I will recommend to my friends that get to Red Eye for good craft beer.
