I went here because I ordered a brewers best kit and after I open it, I realize there's no yeast in it...great. So this place is right down the road from my school(SUNY Farmingdale). I ring the bell and walk in as it says to do and am greeted by an older woman. I told her what I needed and she asks one of the brews brothers who is on the phone. As she is waiting for him I take a look at the small beer section in the back. The majority of the store is over priced wine goods(cellars, chillers, cabinets...). They have all the basic equipment, a fridge with pellet hops, dry, and liquid yeast. On a shelf there are some extract kits that look like they've been sitting there for years, as well as different DME and LME's. Prices are pretty good too. Overall, I would go here just as a last resort if i'm missing something.

This store is located in an industrial area right by black forest brew haus in farmingdale. Most of this store is deciated to wine racks, glasses, etc. There is a small room in the back that is deciated to brewing both wine and beer. They did have a decent selecction of basic equipment, bottles, DME, LME, and kits. The hop selection was in a fridge on the wall and they had a dozen or so different pelleted hops. I did not see any whole leaf and only a few plugs. Since I was looking for some whole leaf for dry hopping I was alittle dissappointed but they did have some cascade plugs($5.25 for two 1/2 once plugs).
This is a basic brew shop that is alittle pricey. I wouldnt go there expecting to find some rare hops but If you need to buy something you forgot to get online and dont feel like paying shipping this is a good place to go. Also, the few guys I talked to were very nice and helpful.

A very good, quirky place in the industrial section of farmingdale.

I must say the hop pellet selection was outstanding as well as the dry and liquid yeast for that matter.

There was a whole slew of different base and specialty grains, along with a myriad of brewing equipment and adjuncts.

Dave, the brother I usually encounter, is incredibly personable and friendly and quite knowledgable about extract brewing and home brew equipment. However, all grain is something he would admittedly say he is not well versed in.

Overall, I highly reccomend this place, the selection is great, the help is honest and friendly, and all within a close proximinty to the Black Forrest!!!

On a special note: At times, some well versed LHBS proprietors in the area may come off as condesending and downright mean, those who are looking for sanctuarity from being belittled or talked down to, need only go to this establishment.

Located on Smith Street in Farmingdale, just around the corner from the Black Forest.

An unassuming looking building. You have to ring the bell at the front door to be buzzed it. The front of the store contains tons and tons of wine making products.

The homebrew materials are toward the rear, and includes a good variety of extract and full grain materials. They sell a decent amount of hardware as well, including corny kegs and draft towers.

If you are in the market for a kegerator, there are a few different model offered. However, the prices are pretty outrageous - a few hundred dollars more than what is seen elsewhere.

A good alternative if you cannot get out to Karp's.
