Served on tap. Pitch black with no head or light passage. The nose is intense, tons of dark fruit, dark cherries and molasses. Rich waves of dark chocolate come next. Taste matches nose well, very bold with flavor. Things start malty and sweet. Chocolate, cherry, and molasses are predominant. This beer could have a crazy bottle release like dark lord or darkness, it's that good. Mouthfeel is thick and mellow carbonation. Delicious.

22oz bottle shared by Jason. Thanks!
A: Black with a small beige head.
S: Diacetyl and acetaldehyde. Caramel and chocolate with a little vanilla and bourbon, though it's not too important with the big butter notes. Oak.
T: Charred malt with some green apple and butter. Licorice and chocolate. Oak, bourbon, and brown sugar.
M: Lower full body with moderate carbonation. Sticky and smooth mouthfeel with a light warming presence.
Overall: Riddled with flaws.

Served in 8oz glass at Dehstihl in champiagn.
A- Heavy dark black with .5" brown head. One may mistake it for coffee if served differently
S-Heavy dark cocoa with coffee bean burbon vanilla and oak notes. Very pungent and distinctive
T- suits odor, sweet dark cocoa followed by a bourbon/coffee bitterness with a dry finish. Surprisigly well balanced for a 13%.
M-thick and luscious though not as creamy as expected. leaves palate a black vanilla bean coffee dry, unique
O-definitly a post desert or end of the night brew as the name suggests. This is without a doubt something special and if you have the opportunity to try it I highly recomend it.

On-tap at FoBAB 2011. Served in a taster pint. Listed as brewed at the Champaign location. Aged in a Heaven Hill bourbon barrel.
A - Dark tan foam settles to a thin cap, thick collar, and a bit of spotty lace. Black body.
S - This reminds me a fair bit of Good King Henry Special Reserve. There's an mildly buttery note present, but it integrates very well with the vanilla, milk chocolate, roasted grains, oak, and light bourbon presence. Very enjoyable, and doesn't seem as hot as the listed 13%.
T - Taste is equally nice, with more dark chocolate and roasted malt character shining through. Mild oak and vanilla character rounds things out, and the finish is a mix of roast bitterness and whiskey bite. Super smooth considering the high ABV.
M - Smooth, creamy, medium-full body, with medium-low carbonation, and some grain and barrel tannins in the finish. Some alcohol warming, but nothing untoward.
D - A very nice barrel-aged RIS that's on the sweeter side of things. Get the butter out of the nose and this would become a slam dunk. I enjoyed it quite a bit even with the diacetyl issue.
