A: A wisper of cream colored foam - bearly considered a head, poured from the bottle and quickly dissipated. Just a ring of larger bubbles sat at the edge of the glass. The beer is dark-dark brown, not quite black but just about. Small legs kick up when swirled.
S: Mild cocoa and toffee aroma with a lactic bite.
T: Sweet caramel and toffee malts with a slight lactic note. sweet milk chocolate with muddled vanilla, coconut and cream. Very little hop bitterness. slight oak, tobacco and smoke flavor comes through.
M: Slick mouthfeel with a very-low level of carbonation. Body is moderate and there is a slight bite in the finish maybe from dark malt astringancy or tartness.
O: Thinking this bottle had a lacto infection going on. The muddled flavors from roasted malts combined with ultra low carbonation and tartness made this a rough one. Please fix this Os'o, we know you can do better! (was it a buggy barrel?)

Like the other two beers I've had from this brewery, this was flat. Not quite sure what's going on at this place but it isn't good.

Late 2014 release
This is a "tap" review. Bottle version goes down at least 2/3 of a point overall. On tap: Creamy, good mouthfeel, great balanced bourbon stout flavors. In a bottle: thin-ish almost "separated" flavor. - just doesn't come together as well

Disappointed in this beer.
It seems that O'so has really started to up their game so I made sure to snag a bottle of their main barrel aged beer to see how it stacked up to other great ones from around the state, specifically Central Waters. This beer was strange. The bourbon smell and taste was definitely present and the abv has to be higher than regular Night Train which is only in the 6% range. My only gripe with the bourbon flavor was it was a little hot so could benefit with some aging. There was a slight tart, sour taste though which reminded me of a Cherry Stout. If that's what they were going for then great but something tells me that flavor wasn't supposed to be there.
Glad I tried this but nowhere close to being on par with Central Waters, who sets the standard in the state for barrel aged beer.
