This beer is one of my favorites by O'so. The use of Carmel malts is very pronounced, so if you like that deep and semi sweet caramelly cherry taste, you will dig this beer. It tastes like no other red I have ever had, which illustrates the inventiveness of this brand new brewery.

Near inch tall fizzy off white head on a murky reddish brown body. Cap and collar throughout, minimal lacing.

Smell isnt off-putting but not desireable to me. A little like copper pennies.

Caramel and toffee notes from the malt. Low hop presence. Would guess at lower that 6%abv

Medium mouthfeel, medium carbonation.

I think the 6%abv works against this beer. For the most part it's an easy drinker and most would treat it as such...the higher than perceived alcohol really limits its drinkability. Overall, an average somewhat flavorful beer.

12 oz. bottle. Decent head falls quicly with no lacing. Clear reddish brown color.

Slight aroma of red malt.

Taste is a typical red of above average quality. Nice malty easy drinking brew.

Mouthfeel is slick with below average carbonation.

O'so is new to me but good to check out a new brewery.

12 oz. bottle tried 28 Oct 2010. Courtesy of R&S, thanks! Served in the Lakefront shaker pint.

Medium sized light brown head. Lightly carbonated. Clear reddish brown in color. Aroma is reminiscent of brown sugar, lightly nutty, a touch sour. Starts nutty sour. Becomes a little earthy in the middle. Somewhat bitter aftertaste. Medium body, light alcohol.

A bit below average.

Deep garnet in color with a simple foam collar, no lacing. Nice creamy and smooth medium-bodied texture, perhaps just slightly undercarbonated for the thickness. Aroma contains a smoked peat presence on top of a nice blend of caramel and toffee maltiness, tastes of the same malty blend and a somewhat lighter smokey element than the nose hinted at. Also, the finish of the sip contains a certain dry nuttiness. I really like this one. Although, IMHO, it presents itself as more of a Scotch Ale at times than the Red Ale it claims to be.

I wasn't expecting much from this brew after reading the reviews but this is a pretty good offering.

Had a ton of head when poured into my tulip but left no lacing. Has a nutty carmel aroma that is pleasant. Tastes almost like a Belgian of some sort. Very little hop taste. Very creamy in my mouth, even better as it warmed up. Strongly recommend to let it warm up.

Very nice brew.
