Notes:
A highly hopped, yet still balanced, double IPA. Multiple hop varieties, emphasizing Citra Hops, were used. We're lovin' the tropical goodness of this hop variety!

UPDATE: The local Green's got another keg and I got 2 growlers. This stuff is the nectar of gods. I had to up my review because I was getting over a cold on the first review and this is probably THE BEST DIPA EVER!
Poured from a growler into a tulip glass. Growler purchased at Green's Discount in Columbia, SC.
From their website, a correction to the ABV should be 9.7%;
Ingredients: 2-Row*, Munich* and Wheat* Malt, Citra, Chinook, Nugget, Cascade, Centenniel and Columbus Hops. *denotes organic ingredient
9.7% abv. Seasonal- Spring
A: Cloudy amber color with a nice fluffy off-white head. Moderate lacing.
S: Citrus hops are prominent. Mixture of sweet citrus and floral scents. Some underlying pine hops are also present.
T&M: Mixture of floral, pine, and citrus hop flavors with a strong mildly sweet malt presence. Fades to a slightly bitter, resiny flavor. Medium to heavy body. Very smooth with a bit of a fluff from the carbonation. Actually, as the temperature of the beer warms, the carbonation also lightens dramatically. It may be that my fridge is too cold?
This stuff is excellent considering the ABV and how the alcohol is completely masked by the well-balanced taste. Definitely worth trying and Coast really needs to consider offering this year round if it isn't in the works already!

Golden orange in color, light lacing, light glass rings.
Smells like prunes, some hints of burnt rye bread. Interesting!
Taste is very similar to the smell, with notes of grapefruit under a cloak of pancakes and syrup. Acceptable transition of sweet to bitter. Thank you! Not many double ipa's get that right.
Feels thin and lacks the heartiness of a big IPA, but does pack some tingle in the end of the finish, most likely due to the content of alcohol content rather than the lack of carbonation.
I could make a hobby out of drinking beer this good, perhaps I should....

Thanks to dogdoc for this one! Reviewed from notes. Poured from bomber into TBBC pint glass.
A: A glowing deep orange-gold with medium visible carbonation and a small white head.
S: Citrus (orange primarily), grass, tropical fruit, pine, melon, and spice hop character.
T: Follows the nose. Huge hops character, heavier on tropical fruit, melon, and spice, with the light cracker malt flavors.
M: Medium body, good carbonation sensation, and minimal alcohol presence.
O: Wow, this is tasty. This isn't generally my favorite hop profile, but it works for me in this instance. Big winner from COAST.

A: poured a bright translucent golden orange in color with yellow highlights and had a half finger of head that left some good frothy lacing sticking to the glass.
S: some good citrusy notes upfront in the aroma with piney grassy hop character hints of tangerine and light malty sweetness.
T: the grassy hoppy character was more dominent on the palate alongside tangerine fruit, some good citrusy accents, a little piney but with good malty sweetness that helped on the balance.
M: the brew was light to medium in body with a fair amount of carbonation which had a sweet, hoppy, piney, grassy, citrusy, and slight bitter finish.
O: I thought it was just ok for a DIPA, I huess I have to stick with these west coasr hop bombs.

Bottle came courtesy of Johnqvegas. Bottled 09.12.12.
Thanks Dustin!

So this is boy king? How wildly unimpressive.
Looks great-- golden orangey body, nearly white head. Decent retention and lacing.
Smells a little summit hoppy... I detect a hint of garlic/liver & onions.
9.5% ABV? I would not have guessed. The beer does a great job hiding the ABV. So... Props?!
The flavor is rather boring. Lightly sweet malt with a seemingly mild hop flavor and a very subdued bitterness.
This drinks more like a daily ipa than a limited release DIPA.
Overall-- call me Kayla Maroney, cuz I'm pretty unimpressed. (but nothing about this beer is subpar. If anything, I would call this an instance of the beer not living up to its hype).

A great beer- very fresh tasting and bright with loads of citrus character and enough sweetness from the malt to keep things balanced. This pour is from a growler I picked up yesterday from Greenville Beer Exchange. Pours a nice orange amber with a moderate head and some lacing. Nice sweet citrus nose, with honeyed notes of tangerine, candied grapefruit peel, and a touch of pine in the background. The taste is great- more bright citrus, but with an herbal backbone and some nice citrus peel bitterness. Very layered and well integrated, and nicely made. Delicious!

Big thanks to mike for tossing this one my way yesterday just because...simply amazing! bottled 9/12. enjoyed from a hill farmstead wine glass.
a - brew poured a transparent orange with a finger of foamy white ipa head. the head hung out for a bit and left some creamy lacing on the side of the glass. steady soft carbonation can be seen.
s - as soon as i popped the bottle i could smell it. smells pretty awesome. dank fresh hops with a hint of caramel toffee. pine resin grapefruit and butterscotch...kind of resembles a fresh hoppy american barleywine.
t - as the nose suggests, dank fresh hops. nice bitterness on the finish, but not overly so. the toffee and butterscotch that i found in the nose is not really present in the flavor.
m - easy drinker not too bitter...medium bodied. the heat leaves a tingle in my mouth.
o - overall, this is a solid IIPA. can certainly hang with the big names in the category, but doesn't lead the pack, but certainly up there with the best.
