Notes:
Our take on a kolsch style ale that is soft on the palate with a delicate malt flavor. Balanced with a touch of wheat and honey notes .Dry and wine like with a flowery hop finish.

Pours murky and yellow. A bit of head but it dissipates quickly. Smells a bit hoppy and yeasty. Tastes a bit bitter and hoppy and yeasty. Very tasty. Smooth and crisp and highly drinkable. Overall a great kolsch. Not my favorite style but tasty enough ;)

Kolsch! The name refers to the lat./long. coordinates of the brewery but does not give much away in terms of style. That is what I refer to as "too clever by half". Oh well.

It was presented in a room-temperature glass with a thin, bone-white head with moderate retention. The color was spot on - a beautiful, deep-golden yellow with NE-quality clarity. The nose was muted, slightly malty, but not terribly present. Mouthfeel was medium with a light, dry, lemony taste on the tongue. Finish was dry and refreshing. This would be perfect on a hot, humid day such as the one that I was experiencing in Charleston, SC.

A - A light gold body with slight haze, topped by a one finger head of bone white foam. The head settles quickly and leaves moderate lace.

S - A light grainy aroma of malt with some herbal hops and perhaps a hint of sulphur.

T - Very light, dry malt up front with a toasted bread note. Some herbal hops in the middle with just a hint of malt. Finishes with very light bitterness and minor, earthy hop notes as well as a lingering note of very weak malt sweetness.

M - Medium body, moderate carbonation, and a very dry finish.

D - This is an extremely light beer that doesn't quite deliver the wheat and honey notes promised on the label. There is some nice herbal hop character hinted at in the aroma, but it fails to follow through in the flavor. There is a good balance between the very light malt and the fleeting hop flavor and bitterness, but both could stand to be turned up a bit. This isn't a bad beer, but I think they have erred on the light side of the Kolsch style. This is more of a blonde or cream ale, it would need a bit more malt and hop presence to make it a Kolsch.

Poured into Pils glass.

Pours over 1 finger of foamy white head. Great retention with a ton of lace. Color is a clear straw yellow. Active carbonation in the glass.

Aroma: Pale malts, floral earthy hops. Biscuit flavors. Pretty simple as it should be.

Taste: Huge flower hop profile. Almost weedy like. Pale, bready malt profile. Earthy is a good word to describe this beer.

Mouthfeel: Crisp and bitter. Light body with a higher amount of carbonation. Ends with a dry floral taste that sticks around forever.

Overall, the aftertaste wasn't too clean which really bugged me. I would rather have a kolsch clean and refreshing. It was pretty decent otherwise. I didn't detect any of the honey, but I did get some herbal notes. Decent drinkability.

Thanks to Bobby for sharing this one.

A: The pour is a hazy pale golden color with a thin layer of white head on top.

S: The nose is very buttery, which I was not expecting, nor did I find pleasing. There is a touch of light malt with a mild yeast aroma.

T: The diacetyl is present, but not to the extent that it exists in the nose. There is a slight malty sweetness, and a moderate bitterness which provides a welcomed bit of balance.

M: Somewhat light in body, but it works with the rather light feeling of the beer overall. The carbonation is moderate.

D: This kind of "tastes like beer"--in the sense most non-beer drinkers would describe. Nothing really all that good about this beer, unfortunately.

A-pours a transparent golden yellow color with a creamy pure white head.

S-the nose has a hint of toasted biscuit up front, barley and wheat follow, grainy, light grassy hop and a touch of honey.

T-hint of toasted bready malt taken over by grainy wheat, grassy herbal hops and a touch of honey are light in the back with a lightly bitter finish.

M-light bodied, a little grainy, semi dry finish.

D-not a favorite style but some balance, pretty straight forward and done to the style. Quite grainy and that seems to dominate but there is some balance with light hop bitterness.

Bottle. Golden crystal clear straw color with a fluffy white 2 finger head. Very clean smelling in that there isn't any overpowering aromas that come from this at all. The faintest smells are those of light malts sweetness and a touch of hops presence. The taste is also very light. Slightly sweet upfront with a surprisingly semi-bitter aftertaste. Some floral notes. The aftertaste is bothersome to me.

A - Pours a pale, straw-yellow color with a finger of white head that dissipated to nothing in rather quick fashion. No lace on the side, but some surprisingly decent legs.

S - Smells kind of skunked, with some sulphuric notes as well. Wheat, grain, little bit of hops, cereal malts.

T - Tastes like skunky and sour malts, little bit of mineral, cereal malts, some soured honey, slight hop bitterness. Not very pleasant.

M - Lighter bodied, pretty active carbonation, this seems fine for the style.

O - Didn't like it for the style or for beer in general. Taste was bad, didn't care for it.
