22 oz bottle dated 04/20/10 courtesy of softcough. Thanks.

A-Poured into a nonic pint glass. Cloudy yellow in color. Towering, foamy white head settles slowly. This leaves an absolutely beautiful lacing as it slow recedes. Fabulous.

S-Floral hops predominate. Some pine in there as well with citrus/apricot notes and light grass underneath.

T-Starts out oily and piny with a citrus assault following. Malt presence is subdued - enough to balance out the hops, but not much more. Huge hop bitterness rounds out the finish with a hint of alcohol burn at the end. IMHO this beer reminds me of Sculpin; very hop heavy IPA despite the 7.7% ABV.

M-Carbonation is toward the high side, but I think it works. Medium to medium heavy in body. Great texture. Despite the 7.7% ABV (which pushes into IIPA territory) it is not syrupy in the least. Again, I have to say the mouthfeel is similar to Sculpin - except perhaps a bit fizzier.

D-It's somewhat of a palette shredder. While I didn't find it difficult to finish the bomber, I don't think I would want another immediately. Definitely recommended if you're looking for a hop fix.

It's an exceptional IPA and one that I will be seeking out again. One of the strongest efforts I've seen in this style from a southeast brewery.

Poured from the bottle into a Dogfish Head Ale glass. Bottled March 28 2013.

A gorgeous crystal clear dark copper amber body, with a little bit of dark color character. A big middle column of tiny carbonation, capped with a nice tan evenly pinhead bubbled three finger head that settles to a thick crown and cap. Aggressive and impressive.

Nose is a bit muted. Pine and spruce airy, but not large, hints of earth also but with not much dank quality. Not much sweet malt or caramel, or backbone to this either, but pleasant.

A real juicy palate on first sip. Palate has a hidden thickness and big resiny coating in the mouth. Hop angle comes mostly in aftertaste of pine and spruce, with hints of lots of oily grapefruit. Citrus and juice tropics on first seem to fill the palate but dissolve and disappear very quickly. Some faint biscuit aroma really wants to come out in the swallow but is quite burried also.

Overall though it has such easy drinking ability, and maybe not the most memorable IPA but quite tasty and one I would easily drink again.

A great IPA!

A: It is a cloudy beer with orange tint. The off white head lingers.

S: Citrus fruits, piney and floral. (typical IPA smells)

T: The taste is very balanced between the bitterness and sweetness of the malts. It is a perfect combination and is very refreshing.

M: Carbonated, but not too much. It seems to be just right.

O: This was my first time trying Hopart and will be buying it again. It is a great IPA and it is brew locally for me which is always a plus. Anyhow if you see it give it a try. I doubt there will be any regrets.

Poured from a bomber into a Sam Adams pint glass.
Bottled 1-22-13

Appearance- Poured a hazy gold. Started with a big head that diminished and left a nice lace.
Aroma- At first the piny smell of the hops hits. The biscuity malt character is apparent.
Taste- The hops are not as overpowering as the smell had me thinking. Balanced pretty well by the malts and spicy yeast.
Feel- Pretty average. The carbonation is nice and prickly.
Overall- Pretty good brew. More balanced than the smell made me think. The bitterness is absolutely perfect, leaving the best aftertaste.

look: 4.25 | smell: 3.5 | taste: 3.75 | feel: 4 | overall: 3.75

Appearance (4.25) – Pours from a bomber into a pint glass. Nice two finger head of large bubbles. Loads of carbonation coming up. Very light brown color. Fairly clear. Some bubbles have accumulated on the side of the glass. Lacing is actually really nice.

Smell (3.50) – Very hoppy with a huge pine presence. Hints of grapefruit and lemon.

Taste (3.75) – Lots of hop crunch at font. Definiely brings the pine and woody smell that was present in the smell. The crunch stays present well into the body of the taste. There's not much of an finish to the beer. I don't get a ton of maltiness. The biggest presence is really the hops and pine. Even so though, I'm really satisfied with the way it tastes. Though its not complex, its a really satisfying IPA.

Mouthfeel (4.0)– The carbonation is really great in this beer and I think completes the beer. Paired with the crunch of the hops it is really quenching. A good candidate for a hot day by the pool.

Overal (3.75) – I'd say this is an above average IPA. Its not really outstanding or complex, but it does the job really well. For cheaper bomber, this seems spot on to me.

I think colder is better for this beer.

Bottled on Jan 22, 2013.

22 oz. bottle served in Solemn Oath snifter. Bottled 2/27/13. Thanks to rnorgart for the bottle!

A: Pours a murky dark orange color with a yellowish head forming on the pour. it recedes to thick ring with some sticky sheets of lace left down the glass.

S: Bready malts with some earthy hop spice. A little dried grass with some mild citrus peel.

T: There are a ton of flavors going on in this one. There's a dark bread spiciness with some herbal hops. Very earthy in nature. White bread sweetness from malts as well with a light piney bitterness. Light lemon zest with a little orange pith as well.

M: Medium bodied with a little heft to it. Moderate chew, but easy drinking with a medium soft carbonation. Slight bitterness to the finish without too much drying.

O: Definitely more of an English style IPA in my opinion, but pretty balanced between the earthy and spicy hops and sweet bread malts.

Pours cloudy dark orange with a big sticky off white head.

Not much hop character in the aroma. Very grainy and yeasty although more like a British IPA.

Similar flavors. Leans more toward the malt side of the ledger. Grainy bready malt. Not much hop character up front although it does finish a bit spicy with some floral notes.

Medium body and carbonation.

Decent beer, but profile didn't really do it for me especially as an American IPA. Hop character was way too restrained and this bottle was super fresh so drop off was not an issue. IPA lovers go seek out Carnie Fire. Tremendous beer and hoppier than this IPA.
