Big light off white head settles into a nice lacing above a clear copper-bronze colored beer.

Citrus, pine, and fresh grass hops aroma that seems to be on the lighter side.

Nice hops taste that is not overwhelming but definitely there with some citrus, some pine aspects and a little bit of fresh grass attributes, giving this IPA a pleasant IPA taste.

A dry slightly bitter hops taste aspect to the aftertaste of this medium bodied beer.

A decent beer definitely worth a try if you are into IPA's or the Portland beer scene.

A: Hazy Golden Straw/Mildly Amber, Passes Some Lacing, White Head, Decent Lacing

S: Floral, Biscuits, Mildly Grainy Malts

M: Decent Carbonation, Medium Bodied, Mildly Drying

Overall, a nicely balance IPA, nothing blow me away but sessionable...may have had some hop fade but no dating on the can.

A: A hazy deep almost mustard yellow body with a one finger head that quickly dissipates.

S: Very bready and malty in the front of the beer with some dank bitterness in the back.

T: There is a sharp bitterness in the front. There is some citrus flavors in the hop character but the best way I can describe it is grass-like. The malt is very mild and has very subtle caramel qualities to it.

M: Good body with maybe too much carbonation.

O: It is an average IPA. Nothing special here.

Pours dark amber with a large, white head.
Aroma of orange marmalade, peaches, rich sweet malt, resinous hops and pepper. Nice.
More resinous hops as a flavour, along with loads of sweet crystal malt and orange marmalade.
Good stuff, damn enjoyable.

Poured into a snifter. My good friend SatlyMalty surprised me with this one. Bottom of can has an unreadable freshness date but I see a 13 so it must be from this year.

A- Pours a medium amber color with a 3/4 inch off-white head that retains nicely before slowly relinquishing to a thick ring around the edge of the glass and plentiful surface foam. Clots of semi-resilient lacing slide down the glass when I swirl.

S- Piney aroma that's fresh and effervescent as the carbonation puts off great hop fumes. A faint bit of caramel-like malt is detected beneath. Musty and earthy.

T- Mostly vegetal hop flavor that brings to mind celery, broccoli and arugula. Bitterness is mild and balanced on the malt base. Alcohol is very toned down allowing for lots of quaffing.

M- Smooth and pretty crisp with medium carbonation and a body on the lighter side.

O- I like Hopworks, but man do they dig the earthy types of hops, mainly cascade. I guess I just want more variety since the only other beer of theirs I've had was their Double Dry Hop IPX - Cascade. This is a very sessionable IPA, as was the other so I guess I'm just dying to see what they can do with a DIPA.

First Review! Poured bottle into my pint glass...

A - Light golden color with white head about 2 fingers

S - Citrus ,pine

T - The taste kind of surprised me. Very crisp, clean, easy to drink as if it was brewed with spring water. Must be where the organic comes from.

M - Light, not overwhelmingly bitter

O - I like my IPA's with a little more ABV, but great non the less. Could drink all day in the summer.

The HUB IPA fills my glass with copper clarity, evident carbonation, and impressive eggnog head. It smells leafy and then fruity. Peach scents are strong and berries come in underneath. Caramel and amber malts make up the mash, as far as my nose can tell. Needly bitterness dominates the highly fizzy mouth experience. Oily hops don't leave the roof as quickly as the liquid is swallowed. This is a little citric but less so than I expected and remembered from previous encounter with this beer. The taste suggests pale and pilsner malts as well, with very little sweetness other than that of the fruitiness. Apricots and underripe tropical fruits give this kick-ass taste-bud destroyer a bit of softness and some quality flavor. The lacing on my glass is not great but my dad had the other half of this 22-ouncer and his glass had magnificent foam rings up and down the sides. This one goes down smooth and need not be downed quickly. Quaff at a leisurely pace and enjoy every sip, gulp, slug, chug, and mouthful.

HUB IPA is super bitter but surprisingly pleasing because of the fruit tastes, presumably thanks to the yeast strain, and also owing to a malty character that stand far from center stage yet mellows the hops considerably.

Another beer from the legendary woodychandler. Poured from a 16 oz. can. Has a rich golden color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is hoppy, some citrus. Taste is hops, bitter, a bit of citrus, easy drinking. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall is an enjoyable beer.

$3.75 for a stein on cask at the brewpub on Powell. Ridiculously good price IMO. IIRC, this is the first cask beer I've had in at least 6 months. Oh, how I've suffered...

A surprisingly clear copper orange with a thin, off-white head that falls off rather quickly, leaving little lacing, this looks decent. The nose, however, is a big step up. Bright, dank, pungent, this is very refreshing. Pungent grapefruit with some pine and citrus zest are immediately noticeable. Minimal malt character is present. Some weed-like notes are present. The palate opens with a blend of big, pungent, mildly resiny bitterness, mostly dank with some fruit. Pine, orange zest and some pineapple are most prominent. The malt character is not really noticeable, this beer is all about the hops. There's a little bit of toasted grain in there, but for the most part, this beer is just a solidly enjoyable hop bomb. The mouthfeel is quite good. Nice, resiny bitterness, with pleasant enough carbonation but for a cask pour, this feels rather lifeless (possibly because this was over-filtered?). In addition, there's a certain weirdness about how this beer feels even otherwise (not grassy hops, not grainy tannins, not quite the water) that I can't put my finger on. That said, I will gladly drink a second pour of this to dig deeper into what's off here...

As an aside, I've held off on buying their beers simply because they don't date their bottles. Just put a damn date code on it!

Pours a deep golden color with just a slight hazey presence. If you like head (who doesn't) this one won't let you down. Big three finger soapy head from the start with polka dotted lacing all around the glass. Sediment free and mann, what a looker...

Aroma is not lacking in citrus fruit. Pineapple, grapefruit and orange followed by biscuit, pine resin and a hint of caramel malt. The combination of ingredients fits well here. A little on the light side but pleasing enough.

The flavor follows the nose with the Centennial and Cascade hops contributing to that juicy fruit flavor. The caramel malt adds a nice balance and puts the breaks on the hop bite keeping this on the sweeter side as far as IPA's go.

The mouthfeel is fresh and clean resulting in a highly drinkable, dare I say sessionable beer. The body has a medium feel with little to no carbonation. A noticeable hop bite is present along with some stickiness but in the end it finishes surprisingly smooth.

Overall this is a solid IPA and one I'll be enjoying regurarly, especially during the hot months. Well balanced, low abv and quite refreshing. Thumbs up.

An aggressive pour into my tasting tulip produced a slightly haze, amber gold beer with a voluminous white head that leaves delightful remnants throughout the glass. This beer has a magnificent aroma! Big bright citrus hop notes, with just a tiny perceivable malty note. The bitterness is present throughout, but never in an unpleasant manner. Malt toastiness does punctuate the hops. This is just a splendid IPA and one I can drink over and over again. This is going to be my go-to beer for sitting in a lawn chair and letting my mind go blank all summer.

A: Pours a clear, deep amber pour. Mid-sized but very fluffy off-white head. Fades slowly with great retention. Substantial fluffy lacing.

S: Citrus and tropical fruits. A touch of resin.

T: Nice grapefruit and pine up front with hints of tropical fruit. Very fresh and crisp. Kind of a cracker-like malt base. Bitter resin and pine in the finish with some spices maybe? Almost get black pepper like a saison or something.

M: Medium bodied but slightly astringent with all the hops. Mouth coating hop resin between sips.

O: A nice pungent and tasty IPA. Very drinkable and smooth despite large amounts of hop flavors and bitterness.

Extremely solid IPA.

Loads of hop aroma, piney galore and fruit to boot; yet the malt backbone is where its at. Using 'Canadian Pils' as the base malt (a somewhat unusual choice for American IPA), this is surprisingly satisfying after the hops fade and the crackery/bready background holds everything together... the perfect marriage of malt and hop, right here, folks.

This is a very good 'session IPA' IMO, plenty of flavor and balance, but nothing overbearing; it certainly wouldn't be a chore to knock out a few of these in a sitting.

Had this on 2012-12-26 in Columbia, PA

A - Mostly clear golden-orange with a 1.5-finger white head and very good lacing.

S - Light tropical, biscuit, citrus, hop floral. Pleasant but not real pungent.

T - Orange, peach, well-baked biscuit, pine, pepper. Initially the bitterness is well-integrated and it isn't until the aftertaste you realize how many IBUs are packed in this brew. Not quite as intense as the IBUs in the Marble Brewery IPA I had side-by-side with this, but leaning that way. There is some orange/peach flesh sweetness in this aftertaste that works well.

M - Medium body and light-medium carbonation. Lightly prickly yet smooth.

O - A enjoyable beverage from a brewer I'd not tried before. I'm looking forward to trying more styles from HUB.

Poured from a bomber to a sam adams cup

A- golden body, 3/4" fluffy off white head

S- dank (marijuana dank), spicey, citrus, pils malts, grainy, hay

T- citrus, pils &caramel malts, sour lemon like tartness

M- medium body, crisp carbonation

O- i'm not sure what to call this brew, a lager? An ale? Though hops dominate the front, the supporting malts leave you confused. I've never had a beer that tastes so much like a pils, be so hoppy. Usually a lager is somewhat watered down to me but the caramel malts and hops fill in the blanks and make an awesome beer!

Poured from the bottle into a Dogfish Head Ale glass. No obvious bottle dating that I can see.

A real nice amber orange and slightly cloudy/hazy. Real good hue, getting into just the hints of dark chestnut brown. Creamy head, very tiny bubbles inside with about two fingers off the pour and lacing nicely. A simple solid looking ale, I do like this amber hue, it looks a little unique.

Nose is a faint sweet malt, and sweet hop front. Aromatic and citrusy, with a mix of pine and orange. Hints of juice, and creamy character seem to be coming. A little dank sense hides in the back. Varied. I am diggin this.

First sip is a surprise. A giant quick malt rush, when does malt ever RUSH? Then the hops come forward and hit large and diverse. Juicy fruit action followed with a mellow sugar turbanado brown sense. Afterfinish is quick and doesn't linger so much, but leave a good stinging pine. Borderline almost crisp, but there is just too much density. THere's this hinting biscuity crackly cookie sense also.

Overall, this a fun IPA, really enjoying the stuff from this brewery. It's also quite easy to drink and feels larger than it is. I am impressed.

22 oz bottle, no bottled-on date, poured into a tulip glass.

A- Pours a slightly hazy golden apricot color, topped with three fingers of creamy, thick khaki head that leaves a ton of thick lacing.

S- Lots of citric hops, notably grapefruit and orange, with a really nice herbal, almost earthy pungency. A nice amount of bready caramel malt is also noticeable.

T- Nice blend of citrusy, grapefruit-ey hops, some herbal hop character and bready pale malt and a bit of caramel round things out.

M- Medium bodied, has a creamy feel with a dry finish.

O- A really nice IPA, it's damn delicious and is very easy to drink.

Subtle hop aroma, just right, not too overpowering.

Orange-golden, head makes itself known. Transparent, no noticeable cloudiness.

Hop taste, not too grassy, with aftertaste like marijuana. ;)

Feel is refreshing and crisp. Lingering bitterness on the back-sides of the tongue.

Persistent lacing.

Each taste seems better than the first... It leaves a fresh palate, which invites another sip.

Bottle design is attractive and... urban.

A - Pours deep reddish orange hue with an ample off white head.

S - lots of citrus. Grapefruit, tangerine, lemon zest.

A very cloudy, dusty tan-yellow color with a thin but blanketing white foam skin on top and lots of lacing. The nose gets a solid hit of citrus hops and dusty cereal grain. Great blend with a malt backbone! The flavor is consistent with the aroma bringing sweet oat/rice grain with a sharp citrus-grass. I get oak malt and maybe a little evergreen. Real nice hop brew here with a medium-light body, a crisp feel thanks to a pretty delicate but effective carbonation. Hop heads will enjoy this very drinkable IPA. I loved it!

I had this at the November Baltimore Area BA tasting. Poured from the bottle into a tasting snifter.

Appearance: The beer pours a cloudy golden amber color with a ring of off white head clinging to the glass.

Smell: Sweet with some citrus peel hop notes. I'm also getting a fruity citrus note separate from the hop bitterness.

Taste: I thought this was a bit sweet for an IPA. There is a hint of a flavor that reminds me of an herbal tea. The bitterness builds towards the end and you end up with a good balance.

Mouthfeel: The body is medium with tingly carbonation and a finish that is very dry.

Overall: This wasn't a super hoppy IPA, but I thought it was interesting. I enjoyed the note that reminded me of herbal tea. I'd have more.

Poured from a bomber in a small pint tasting glass. No obvious best before date on the bottle, but lots of other interesting information! New arrival in the local speciality store so it should be fresh!

A - copper in color, clear with a very frothy white head that leaves caked lacing around the glass. Very fluffy head that never quite resolves and leaves lacing all over the glass.

S - one of the finest smelling IPAs I've ever had the enjoyment of sniffing; stunning citrus and floral notes with just a hint of rich maltiness behind it. Slight grassy undertones. INTENSE.

T - bitter, but not excessively so; quite balanced in its hop attack with equal parts lemon peel and grassy hops. Very solid malt underneath just barely gives a sweet toasty note before the enduring bitterness coats the mouth. Finish is a combination of pine resin and citrus.

M - medium bodied but with less carbonation than the fluffy, clinging head would suggest. I expecting serious effervescence but the light to medium carbonation leaves the finish creamy and a bit juicy.

Really tasty IPA; the star for me was absolutely the nose on this beer. If anything the taste didn't quite live up to its intensity (initially), but the clean and balanced bitterness provides a delightful enduring memory to this beer. This is a "must try" for IPA fans.

Pint can (awesomeness) into a pint glass -

A: Pale-ish gold in color with a creamy off-white head with tiny bubbles.

S: Straight up floral grapefruit, tangerine and citrus, juicy and rindy, with a slight suggestion of herbals hops.

T: Unfolds with flavors of citrus and light grapefruit bitterness with a ghostly flash of malt sweetness...dry hints of pine follow as this beer finishes dry and clingy. Hints of malt throughout.

MF: Creamy but dry body, moderate mouthfeel.

O: Not spectacular but very solid IPA. 16oz cans is a huge plus. Pretty balanced taste, and quite drinkable.

From the 16 oz "pounder" into an English pint glass results in a hazy light orange body under a nice one inch fluffy head that recedes slowly, after that it's pretty still.
Aroma is outstanding with juicy tropical fruit and grapefruit rind riding on a slightly sweet smelling breakfast bread.
Taste is all about the balance here, bitter,sweet, fruity, fresh bread. It comes together like a nice scenic painting, pleasing in the overview more than it's particular parts.
Juicy on the aftertaste.
A super nice brew in a very nice format. Bravo

Pours light gold with a good creamy finger of head leaving good lacing down the glass with some retention.

Smells a little juicy and citrus with some floral and pine scents as well.

Starts out with some floral hop character. Just a bit of bready caramel in the middle before finishes very dry with a good mix of pine and grapefruit.

Medium to light body with spot on carbonation.

Very nice IPA. Definitely hop forward, but all the hops are blended very well and no one characteristic stands out. Easy drinker and quite tasty.
