I had this on cask at Blind Tiger.

Great medium copper pour, no head or carbonation. Smell is mostly hoppy. Tastes was great. Mostly hoppy bitterness up front, but theres a great toasty malt flavor coming through as well. Lots of good toasty flavors throughout. Medium body with no carbonation. This was a great cask beer.

I don’t mean to be unnecessarily cruel but this was the second Chelsea beer I tried and my impressions of the brewery are unfavorably to put it mildly. Maybe it’s not fair to have this beer an hour after drinking a Hill Farmstead IPA but that’s immaterial. This is a poorly made example of the style and that’s simply how I feel.

The appearance of the beer is fine; it’s a lightly hazed, gold bodied brew with a small cap of slowly settling foam and decent lace. Aroma is decidedly lacking however; I sniffed and sniffed but got little except some mildly sweet malt and a trace of floral and citrus hops. Had to really strain to get much at all. The flavor confirms the nose; there’s more malt here, with some bready and caramel notes, and the faintest citrus and floral hop flavors underneath. But it’s quite bland and uninteresting.

The body is medium and the carbonation feels a little low. It’s somewhat smooth and creamy but lacks crispness and a clean feel.

“Hop Angel?” Sorry but color me unconvinced. This isn’t gonna cut it guys.

From 07/05/12 notes. Had on cask at The Pony Bar in New York on the UES; served in a pint glass.

a - Pours a clear orange amber color with one inch of bright white head and low carbonation evident.

s - Smells of citrus hops, caramel malts, toasted malts, grains, and bready malts. Hops are there but it isn't super hoppy. Still very nice.

t - Tastes of citrus hops, resin, fruity malts, caramel malts, toasted malts, bready malts, grains. More hops than the nose and a step up for me, though still quite malty.

m - Medium body and no carbonation. Bosy is very smooth; very nice mouthfeel on cask.

o - Overall a very nice beer. Not the hoppiest IPA as a lot of malts come through, but it still tastes very nice and was easy to drink. Would have it again.

Had this beer at NYC Beer Company. Served in a pint glass cool.

Pours a light brown and clear body with an off white head.

Smells floral and light. Taste is refreshing, pine, cereal, light lemon notes. Light body.

Very sessionable and a nice beer. I would drink this beer again.

Poured on tap at Greenwich Village Bistro into a shaker pint. From notes.

A coppery/brown type body, somewhat hazy in appearance, but next to no head given off the pour to determine color or retention. Very minimial lacing while drinking.

Bouquet is a hop front, some pine and mild citrus, pretty solid, but one dimensional. Definitely feels IPA without question coming.

Taste matches the nose but seems rather ordinary. Bland hop and pine bitter, not much malt character. Slightly wet, but not matching the aggresive nose.

Overall the brew seems to start off pretty good but is strangely forgetabale and unremarkable for the style. I wouldn't have this again, but it's pretty easy to drink.
