Poured from the can into a small pint glass ( I split the can with my SO).
Appearance is great for a PA. Far darker than most, with a great color profile that reflects the light. The carbonation makes it almost sparkle.
The smell is very citrusy, with caramel malts punching through the mix. Really entices you to drink it!
The taste is superb for a Pale Ale. This will be my go to Pale Ale from now on. The hops are perfectly balanced, and the malt is clear, light, yet has a rich flavor. Hints of caramel too.
Mouthfeel is great, drinkability is superb.

I'm beginning an escapade back into brews in cans that is becoming the rage with brewing companies recently. Some, despite my optimism with beer, are not what I was hoping for. THIS, on the other hand, was astonishing for being an PA from a can. Smooth, refreshing and an aromatic head with thin lace. Being that I tried this on a whim from a local bar, my doubts about the up and coming "micro-can race" have been subsided for the time being due to this beer. Mad props to this PA and all other brews to come from Tallgrass!

This is an experience. I'm a malthead, so this is high praise from me. Pours to a big frothy white head that stays thick and leaves ample but erratic lacing. Aroma is spicy, fruity hops and toasty Munich malt. Flavor gets better as the beer warms up, with a complex blend of malts and tangy hops playing well together. Mouthfeel is light-medium. I'd say this is one of the best canned APAs you could hope to get your hands on.

Poured 16oz can into Duvel Tulip
A - Pours a light hazy orange with a huge creamy one 3 finger tall white head. Slowly fades into a thin froth atop the liquid below. Lacing is all over mu tulip.
S - Smells of floral and galaxy hops, light grapefruit and passion fruit with a hint of bready malt, slightly earthy.
T - First sip gives a light bitterness and then hints of grapefruits, passion fruit, caramel malt and some light breadiness. Finish is a mix of hop bitterness and a touch of sweetness, lingering for some time after consumption.
M - Medium body and flavor with moderate carbonation. Smooth, hoppy feel that lingers on the pallet long after each sip.
O - A nice canned pale ale with galaxy hops that I enjoy. Point brewery (WI) just came out with their Beyond the Pale IPA and I don't even know if I could distinguish these 2 apart in a blind taste test. If you get Point try it out.

16 oz can poured into a Tallgrass tulip.
5.2% ABV, Drink By 08/21/13 on can.
A - 8-Bit pours with a touch of haziness clouding the goldenrod beer. It's firm cap of rocky foam doesn't ever seem to vanish as massive chunks of sticky lace remain caked to the glass.
S - The smooth hop aroma of this "hop rocketed pale ale" offers a blend of earthy and citrus aromas that suggest a recently cut lawn and a twist of lemon rind in water - deluded but fresh. Earthy, skunky marijuana notes peek out around the pale and trace caramel malt base.
T - Hoppiness advances to the next level with the flavor of this beer as a bold punch of sturdy earthy flavor brings the yard work to the forefront; mulch and cut grass with a zesty lemongrass note. Despite forward hop flavor 8-Bit is smooth and well balanced by pale malt with light caramel drizzled biscuit.
M - Plenty of carbonation really livens the medium body feel of this pale. Smooth flavor and feel are incorporated well with it's moderately bitter finish and lingering dryness that quickly brings you back for another sip.
O - 1UP for Tallgrass! From 8-Bit's awesome retro design to it's hop-forward aroma and flavor, this brew is nicely balanced for an easy drinking pale that packs a punch of flavor.
