Notes:
We love this beer here at the brewery, and think you will have one of those “I’ve never-tasted-a-beer-like-that” kind of moments when you try it!
What we really like about this beer is the smoothness that brewing with cream sugar brings to the palate. This smoothness balances out the copious quantities of roasted barley used in the brewing process to create a rich, complex, and delicious beer. If you have not been a stout drinker in the past, give this beer a try. It might just change your mind about how dark beers should taste. It tastes so rich, but is surprisingly easy to drink!

A-Pours a light black color that is permeable at the bottom of my glass. Thin, brownish/white head that retains fairly well and coats the whole glass as I sip and cascades quickly down leaving a little lacing
S-Milk chocolate, dry bakers chocolate. Nothing too sweet. Maybe lightly syruped chocolate 1% milk.
T & MF-Hint of coffee comes in the front of the palate as it fades into a semi-bitter sweet chocolate finish. Nothing complex, but I like it all right. Mouthfeel is crisp with a dry finish. I feel like I could drink 12 of them they are so light. Maybe a bit too carbonated, but it's still pleasurable
O-A pretty good milk stout. I personally liked Left Hand's better, as this one lacks complexity and is a bit too dry but I still enjoyed it

16oz can poured into a tulip
A: Pours a deep black no light getting through on this one, has about two fingers worth of a khaki brown head that slowly fades leaving behind a nice lacing.
S: Coffee, dark chocolate, and some roasted malt.
T: Coffee, dark chocolate, oats and roasted malts.
M: Has a medium body with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: A very drinkable oatmeal stout not overly complex but is very well brewed.

Appearance: Almost opaque black with very dark brown hue around the edges. Light brown head, big bubbles of carbonation.
Aroma: Sweet cream then roasty malt. A touch of molasses.
Taste: Cream throughout and then roasty in the aftertaste. Tastes how plain coffee creamer smells, though definitely not overly sweet. Roasted caramel and a hint of coffee at the end.
Mouthfeel: Really creamy and a little on the lighter bodied side. Would love to get this on nitro-tap. Above average drinkability.
Final Thoughts: This is a good stout. Definitely one to try! A good representation of the style.

Poured from a 16 oz tall boy into a nonic pint glass.
A. Pours a viscous black with some hints of mahogany when you hold it up to the light. Decent to finger width head that sticks around in a nice way. Splotchy lacing.
S. I get a lot of roasted malt mixed n with some fairly strong milk chocolate aromas. There is a definite milkiness to it aside from the chocolate.
T. I get the same roasted malt in the flavor that I got in the nose. In addition to the creamy chocolate and milk favors (which are definitely there) I get a bit of vanilla throughout as well. The finish is fairly sweet.
M. Light bodied with a fair bit of carbonation. It feels a touch prickly at some points but smooth at others.
O. A solid stout. Nothing terribly complex, but might make me rethink my overall opinion of milk stuts.

Did YOU buy a milk stout!?! You bought a milk stout.. dam dude what is WRONG with you... into the nonic pint glass you go.
A very nice cocoa light brown head that falls very quickly off the pour. Body color is very dark brown, but with a very large red body character to it. Hues of dark ruby all along the edges. Head barely forms a finger off the pour, but settles to an even puck.
Nose is grainy, and a strange sense of tree bark. Cedar and very powdery smelling. This is... weird. Hints of sweetness but not really. Kind of off put by this for style, but it's not horrible so I call average.
Taste is sweet, lightly carbonated just a little playful in the palate, but also with a good body. Off putting nose somewhat doesn't match the taste which makes this much more enjoyable. There is some gaseous quality but not too much to take away for enjoyment.
Overall an easy drinking easy to appreciate and enjoyable milk stout.

A: Pitch black, no light getting through this one. In fact, I think the room got darker after the pour. Head is a nice one-finger dark mocha color, which dissipates quickly, but never really falls back into the beer completely.
S: Ive only had one other sweet stout, which I don't actually remember. This one has a nice subtle sweetness on the nose. It's backed by a nice background of roasted coffee. The downside is that everything is so subtle, I wish it wasn't.
T: The sweetness comes though a lot in the taste. It works well with the roasted chocolate flavors that I get out of it as well. The bitterness is there, enough to balance the beer, but any hop flavor is lost in the malt profile.
M: Low carbonation, full body, and VERY smooth! It's freakishly smooth!
D: This beer tastes like it should be higher in ABV, but it's not. I like it a lot, very drinkable, but I like to enjoy it over the course of an hour.

This was a very well balanced and enjoyable stout.
It poured a deep black with a thick malty tan head that stuck around pretty good and left foamy rings of lace.
Aroma of roasted malt, cocoa, and hints of vanilla. Earthy notes in the back.
Awesome balance of coffee and roasted malt against the dark chocolate and mild vanilla. Earthy notes of hops in the back.
Beautifully balanced and easy drinking stout. Slightly creamy and smooth.

Last of the old glass
bottles in Oklahoma.
This one in particular was
much better from a can,
but I want to see
how it did after
about a year.
12oz->Two Hearted Glass
A ~ Pours Ruby-brown with a dying fizzle of dark head that fades into nothing. No lacing or anything, leaving what looks more like a glass of Pepsi than beer.
S ~ Dark malt (fade), faint watery coffee, Cola.
Esters are present.
T ~ Heavy amounts of cola. Hopping is mild & Lactose is all but gone. Black coffee, Pitted-fruit preserves, Wood, mulch. Bit of pepper. Cocoa powder is a very mild note on the back of the throat. No cardboard.
M ~ I feel this has become more dry with age. In the 'feel' department, it aided it a bit. This oxidized very well, with Carbonation that is peppery, as opposed to creamy.
D ~ Not sure if it is suggested to age milk stouts, but this was interesting. It oxidized quite a bit, making it taste like a blend of Oud Bruin & a low-abv Porter. If you see a bottle laying around, pick it up and give it a try...but only if you have had the chocolate-sweet original.
cheers.

They've got the color right for sure with a black pour and some deep brown on the edges. Lots of roasted and smokey oatmeal in the nose. Surprisingly creamy with some delightful chocolate and strong coffee flavors. The coffee really lingers. Mouthfeel is a bit light for as dark as this is, but it's really tasty and goes down rather easily.
Overall, I think it's great. Smooth, not too big, bold and well balanced flavors. I'm a fan!

Pint can poured into pint glass. Appears typical stout color with a poor head and 0 lacing. Aroma is nearly non-existent although pleasant. Taste is flavorful however weak. There are next to no hops in this thing, and surely not quite enough malt either. Kind of watery and bland. This beer is certainly better than many macros, however needs more ingredient to make a proper beer. It tastes good, however it doesn't taste enough. Mouthfeel is fairly creamy.

Hmmm. That's a pretty gross name. I hope that isn't what I am drinking. It would not be my goal to make something that tastes like buffalo anything, so why did I buy it.
This has a nice roasty aftertaste. The head is weak, but it looks good in the glass. There is a kind of weak, watery aftertaste /consistency. It's hard to explain, but it's not good.
Overall, it has a bunch of taste, but some issues. I do not intend to buy it again.

A dark black color with a fair chocolaty tan head and decent lacing. The aroma says goodly malt and charcoal with deep grass, decent. The grass holds on to dominate the flavor with more sweet molasses malt. There's lots of charcoal with meager carbonation, smooth and medium-plus bodied and reasonably drinkable. There's some red wine and charred oak. Qualities of the aromal dominates but the taste is decent. A nice try at a stout, worth sampling for sure.

A: Pours a dark brown, coffee color, with a nice, one-finger head that has a nice caramel color to it. Head dissipates quickly with slight lacing.
S: Smells pretty nice, definite malt, caramel, chocolate coming through.
T: Very malty with hints of caramel and toffee. There is also a sort of mocha flavor coming through, like a sweetened coffee. A bit too sweet for me.
M: Medium carbonation and a fair amount of crispness for this. Almost has the feel of a porter.
D: Not something that I could have many of in one sitting but still drinkable.

Poured dark dark brown, with 1.5 finger tan head, that quickly settled into a think ring, and left very minimal lacing. Smell is coffee and mocha. Taste is Coffee and mocha with lactose, a bit metallic for half the glass also. Mouthfeel is not as full and creamy as I would have expected/liked.
Overall this is a solid milk stout.

Poured into a pint glass pours a jet black with no head. Smell is roasted malt profile with hints of chocolate. Taste is just like the smell nice roasted flavor with a slight thin mellow finish, very high drinkability. This beer goes down very smooth and would be a nice session brew, overall no to bad.

Appearance: Poured from the 12 oz bottle into a pint glass. My somewhat vigorous pour produces a thick brown head, about 2 inches in height that takes a long time to fade. Head slowly settles down to provides a thick cover and leaves lots of lacing down the sides of the glass. The beer itself is black, I can not see through it.
Smell: Aromas lean heavily to a big malty stout. Roasted malt, dark chocolate, a bit of light roasted coffee as well. Nothing really jumps out indicating any sweetness here.
Taste: A decent smack of roasted malts right up front and carries through to a slightly bitter finish. Bittersweet chocolate, lightly roasted coffee and nuts. The light bitterness on the finish provides a nice balance to the beer.
Mouthfeel: A little lighter in body than I expected. Its a bit of a push to call it medium body. Slick going down with a bit of a lingering aftertaste on the finish.
Drinkability: A wonderful, enjoyabe, drinkable stout. This is a great brew from the Tallgrass Brewing Company that I would definitely have again. Would be great on a cool day, still good on a warmer day.

A run-of-the-mill Stout with solid flavors but the watery textures really hurt.
Buffalo Sweat pours a dark brown color but struggles with head formation and retention despite high carbonation. No lacing.
Aromas of coffee grounds, burnt cocoa, and malted barley carry the scent from beginning til end. A very straight forward aroma without variation.
Flavors favor the coffee and cocoa with mild hints of caramel, nutty, confectioner's sugar, and a light ash/burnt taste. Low on hops, but the beer balances out pretty well due to the roast.
The lowly textured, watery body makes the beer feel weak and thin. The high carbonation doesn't comnpensate for lack of mouthfeel, but accentuates less desirable features of sulfur and high mineral character.
Buffalo Sweat is more flavorful than say Yuengling Black and Tan but the texture keeps it in the same vein.

Pours a light black or very dark brown, light tan head that looks good enough to drink. Aromas of chocolate, vanilla, oat, and husky grains, I dig it. Tastes of chocolate malts with lots of bread and doughy finish. Some phenolic band-aid-like off-flavors. Medium to thin for a milk stout, though nice smooth lower carbonation. Overall I like this, especially the aroma, though some minor off-flavors hindered my enjoyment.

Dark black-brown brew with tan head. Great toasty aroma. Flavor is heavy on chocolate. My friend says it reminds her of hersheys syrup and I agree. Sorta sweet but really not as much I would expect based on the style. A slight acidic prickle on the tongue. Kinda thin mouthfeel.
A good beer. I look forward to more from this brewery.

Near black with a creamy tan head.
Aroma delivers a solid helping of roasty chocolate and not much else.
Taste doesn't quite deliver the roast that the aroma promised but does exhibit some mild cocoa and two hour old coffee, which combines with sweetness to give a creamed coffee/dessert character.
A nice little milk stout. A good nightcap paired with a chocolate or vanilla dessert. My only real complaint is that I'd like the mouthfeel to be a bit chewier.

Pours a standard black with a respectable tan head about 2/3 of an inch thick. Head settles to a fine ring within a minute. Smells of deep roasted chocolate. Light amounts of alcohol mingle with creamy vanilla also noted. Mouthfeel is a bit on the light side, carbonation is good, soft. Roasted malts dominate the palate but not too aggresively. Light amounts of sweetness noted. A touch of creaminess. Aftertaste hangs around for a while but doesn't bring anything new to the table. Very easy drinking. Was pleasantly surprised by an unknown brewery out of Kansas. Would drink it again and am willing to try the IPA.

12 oz. brown bottle poured to a pint glass; received from Kansas BA travlnlt in late '09...no 'best by' date, so I'd best get to drinkin'...it's been on a shelf in the dark/chilly fruit cellar for the last couple months.
Called a 'cream stout' on the label.
A: Sultry darkness, a velvety ebony. Full dollop of almond-tan creamy fluff atop, very good retention. Takes maybe 5 minutes to fall to a skim coat, leaving jagged lace ribbons.
S: Cocoa powder, a sugared 'cafe au lait' aroma. A mild hint of 'ashtray' sootiness, sorta mineral - which sounds bad, I know, but retains in some way a dried tobacco sweetness. Mildest oxidized tinge. Good strength.
T: Malty roast that has definite coffee notes (especially in the finish), but more cocoa than anything. Grainy dark bread and something oddly salty (I know, it's a *sweet* stout), a little vanilla. Then there's a light lemon, or lemongrass rather - just enough hops and a drop or two of tartness. Maybe a little age, but not bad enough to detract much.
M: Didn't care for the feel all that much: yes, it's 'creamy' and undeniably smooth, but the body is thin and the finish is all sticky malt (kinda gummy on the lips). The slightest bit grain, a fine film that makes me feel like brushing my teeth afterward.
D: Good for drinking once at a sitting - might even take a pint of it - but it's a beer that isn't really my thing. No doubt it's well-made and pretty tasty - worth a try, too - but not one I need to seek out again. But I'm keeping the empty bottle - a label like 'Buffalo Sweat' is too good to toss in the recycling bin.
Thanks, Geoff, for the chance to try this one.

This beer was given to me by Tallgrass Brewing employees while they were in Omaha for extreme beer fest.
Aroma: Mildly roasted aroma, with a very strong coffee aroma, slightly sweet and some chocolate undertones
Appearance: Black in color, creamy brown head with very little retention, slight lacing left on the glass
Flavor: Roasted malt flavor with coffee flavor dominating, medium sweet, slightly dry finish
Mouthfeel: Medium-full bodied and creamy, very little carbonation, slightly dry
Very good beer especially if you like the taste of coffee the only improvement that could be made is to tone down the coffee flavors allowing the sweet maltiness to stand out a little more

I really like this style of beer.
Kick ass six pack case and awesome label on the bottle - sweet graphic design.
Appearance - awesome black color
Smell - Smoky goodness
Taste - Just good, maybe strong for some, but I dig it
Mouthfeel - Not bad at all
Drinkability - I can't get enough of this one, again might be too much for some, but man I love this beer!

Thanks to Bobby for sharing this one.
A: The pour is a dark brown color with thick tan colored foam. Pretty standard appearance, here.
S: The nose has a touch of burnt malt, with a very bready base aroma. There is a slight sweetness, which would make sense for the style.
T: The flavor is almost identical to the nose. The burnt flavor is a bit less obvious with the breadiness coming through even more and just a touch of sweetness.
M: The body is medium with a somewhat low level of carbonation, providing a smooth mouthfeel.
D: It's easy to drink, but I do not think I'd really want to have this one again. That said, it gets bonus points for a very creative name.
