330ml bottle: BBD 25 Jul 2013. Poured into a Duvel glass at home on 5 Jun 2013.

Dull orange/amber body, with a slight haze within. Off-white head that started thin but stayed the distance.

Citrus nose with a malty biscuit aroma as the beer warmed.

The taste was also citrus in the fore with the malts arriving later: the hops re-asserting themselves towards the end of each sip.

I'm not a huge 'citrus' flavoured beer man but this had something extra to offer somehow.

Bottle: Poured a light hazy amber color ale with a large foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma consists of fresh floral citrus notes with lightly sweet undertones. Taste is also dominated by fresh citrus notes with light floral notes and sweet undertones with fresh fruity esters. Body is quite full with good carbonation. Nice fresh hops profile with nice mix between Simcoe and Citra hops with plenty of character with little alcohol.

Coming in a 330ml slim brown bottle, BB 02/05/2014, served mildly chilled in a tall tumbler.

A: pours a dark burnish gold colour, coming with a thin off-white foamy head and semi-lively carbonation.
S: American hops are predominant upfront against a rather “relaxed” malt backbone, giving sweet citric, grapefruity, mildly lychee-ish, apple-ly candy-ish and mildly caramely notes.
T: the taste comes light-bodied, dry-ish, tannic bitter, slightly mineral-ish and also faintly buttery from the beginning, almost like a super-charged hoppy, low-gravity English Bitter, followed by flavoursome but light-bodied citric fruitiness, while malts are generally very muted, not unexpected judging by its alc. content, 3.8%abv. Despite the good level of bitterness, it is rather clean in the finish, with a remnant citrus-peel-ish feel lingering alongside very faint undertones of caramel malts.
M&O: refreshing on the palate, light-bodied, the flavoursome hop content makes up for the thin-ish mouthfeel overall; a really thirst-quenching, likable hoppy Bitter, or so-called “Californian Pale Ale”, to me!

Clear golden amber colour. Small, but persistent, off white head.

Lovely hoppy aroma. Bright citrus notes. Light caramel malt.

Lots of crisp, citrus hops. Nice orange and pine notes. Light caramel malt. Firm bitterness. Very good.

Medium-light body with moderately-high carbonation. Good. Very crisp.

A nice, easy drinking pale ale. Very quaffable.

Appearance: Dead Pony Club pours a bright (crystal clear) golden-orange colour, with a rough pour yielding a large white head. The head retention is outstanding and thin rings of lacing are left clinging to the glass as it slowly recedes.

Smell: Mmmm, this actually smells pretty damn good, especially given the time in the bottle! Sweet fruits (litchi, pineapple, tangerine and peach) dominate the nose, with a dank character, orange peel and a touch of grapefruit pith also present. As one would expect from a beer of 3,8%, there is not even a trace of malt character.

Taste: Sadly the age of this bottle is far more noticeable in the flavor than it was in the nose. While there is still some hop character present, it seems rather tired and is somewhat overshadowed by the remaining bitterness. Flavour notes include: Tangerine, orange peel, a light dankness, grapefruit pith as well as hints of peach and pineapple.

Mouthfeel: Light bodied, with a high level of carbonation. Initially the carbonation is a little harsh, but thankfully it settles down quite quickly.

Overall: Judging by the nose and the bitterness in the flavour, I think this must have been an outstanding pale ale when it was fresh. I am really confused as to why the guys at Brewdog gave this a year shelf life!

Pours a burnished amber colour, listless white head. Lacing is pretty decent. Not too bad.

Smells very floral, with rose and lavender, white tea leaves, a bit of lemon tang and an unusual meaty character which may just be the clash of hops with the malts which seem somewhat darker than I might expect from the style. Light, fairly pleasant though.

Fairly light on the palate. Quite grainy upfront with honeyed oats and wheat bran. The honey character continues to midway where there's a yeasty touch, plus some light floral hop character with kiwi, grapefruit and lavender. Finish is very light but quite clean. Not bad; pretty drinkable and fairly simple.

Fluid, pretty decent body though; hop oils add some texture.

Yeah, fairly standard APA but decently handled.

Pours hazy amber. One finger coarse white head fades to film. Spotty lace.

Aromas of grassy hops, citrus, lemon zest.

Taste is good for ABV. Hoppy, balanced, citrus. Grapefruit, dry pine. The typical Brewdog hops are always present on the back palate, but do not overpower.

Mouthfeel is light, just a smidge watery, but lets call it plain drinkable.

Really good beer for the ABV.

It's Burns night so what better way to celebrate than with a scottish celebrity.

Pours a slightly cloudy golden amber body with a big thick white head that halves to a more manageable and believable size quickly a spread of tiny, small and medium size bubbles that cover the surface totally.

Big aromas hear taking me back to Dobbins Green Bullet as it almost sparkles on the nose, there is citrus and carbolic soap and sherbet .

Quite a merry little adventure the tongue is led on starting with quite a unusually dull barley sugar flavour that hops up with bitter orange with a hint of the taste of a Swann Match now is it that the smell is so awesome that makes the taste seem like there is something missing?

Nicely carbonated with decent mouthfeel.

Shame Brewdog has decided to abandon cask because I think this would be amazing served like that.

Pours a light orange. Good head.

Strong pine and grapefruit aroma. Honey and cordial. Some Thai-spice. Fairly classic BrewDog hoppiness.

Taste has more hop taste.

Fairly watery, as to be expected, with decent carb.

Enjoyable but constrained by its style it probably lacks a little complexity.

Definitely stands up well as a bitter-style beer compared to others but I felt Moor Revival had an edge over this one. Definitely worth trying.

The liquid is almost clear, the colour amber. The finger thick off-white head is airy.

Sweet-tart notes of lemonade, lots of lemons. Some tobacco and green plants/hops.

The taste is dry with some dried vegetables and algae. Medium strong bitterness with tart hints. Weak body, the beer gives a somewhat empty impression. The aftertaste is even thinner with some bitterness and sweetness. The finish is short with an unexpected cream flavour.

Medium strong carbonation, small bubbles. Light liquid.

Surprisingly thin and “empty” for being a British beer at 3.8 %. On the other hand, BrewDog isn’t very British after all.

Pours amber with a fading white head.
Nose shows lychee and passionfruit along with biscuity and bready malt.
Flavours focus on the malt; more biscuity and bready characters. Not that much of the hops show.
Too much carbonation, body feels a bit watery.
Not bad.

A 330ml bottle with a BB of July 2013. Picked up from a supermarket a little while back. Described as a Californian pale ale; no idea how they picked the moniker for this one.

Poured into a tulip pint glass. A light orange-amber hue with medium carbonation. Yields a large head of creamy white foam that lasts for a few minutes before reducing to a persistant surface layer. Aroma of sweet caramel malt with hoppy overtones; notes of grapefruit, orange rind, mango, pine, citrus and hints of tropical fruit. Smells lovely.

Tastes of caramel malt with a hoppy character and a clean bitter finish. Notes of grapefruit, orange, citrus, pine, mango, tropical fruit and stewed hops. Slightly sweet, though the malt seems a bit underpowered. A crisp, strident bitterness upon swallowing. Mouthfeel is smooth, dry and tingly, but rather thin and watery. Quite astringent, with an aftertaste of bitter aromatic hops and subtle malt.

Pretty good and certainly tasty. Smells great; lots of juicy hop notes mingling together in delicious harmony. The flavour seems a tad unbalanced in favour of hops - the malt could benefit from being beefed up. The body is also lacklustre; too thin and insubstantial. However, it's a solid effort for a relatively low ABV brew and it still has good drinkability. I could see this becoming a regular drinking beer if the price/availability were right. Worth sampling if you come across it.

Appearance: Slightly darker than typical pale ales, some ruby colour. One finger head, recedes quickly.

Aroma: Hoppy! Flowers, herbs, honey. Authentic California Pale Ale aroma.

Taste: Mild but tasty. Hops and floral notes, some sweetness, but a dry finish.

Mouthfeel: High carbonation, sparkly even. Light bodied. Delightful!

Overall: Pretty good reinvention of the California Pale Ale from Brewdog.

This poured out with a big strong looking white head on top. The color of the beer is a slightly hazed orange color. The retention and lacing are great on this beer. The smell of the beer is hoppy, kind of tropical on the nose. The taste of the beer is really impressive. I pick up peach and pineapple flavors with a subtle sweet malt balance. The mouthfeel is easy going, light bodied and refreshing. Overall this beer is actually really good, I would enjoy this one on a very regular basis if I came across a case or two of it. Very good stuff here.

Ok so its all about hops. Loads of dry hops, and even better - the joy of Simcoe is the whole deal here.
Low in alcohol for the BDog guys and that makes it a great refresher.
The most flavour ever in a low alcohol craft beer.
Simcoe makes it really citrussy, fruity, tangy.
It rocks

A - Pours a light amber color with decent head and little lacing

Clear amber with sandy lumpy head that rims and laces. Big fresh resiny grapefruit nose - pow!
Toast, crispbreads and some toasted hazelnuts before lots of oily citrus: tangerine, pink grapefruit and blood orange rind.
Cotton candy and fruit punch finish and sherbet-y tart-sour finish, like fizzy candy. Soft, lively, light, crisp.

Simcoe, Citra and HBC are the hops.

Huge fresh hop character. I thought the malts were too big at first, but once all that citrus kicks in, totally not the case. No cattiness, so I can only guess it's Simcoe for bitterness with Citra late. HBC is a new one that's supposed to bring blueberry; I could see that.

I'd drink this by the crate. Definitely gets marked up for the low ABV - American brewers, take note. Fine replacement for whatever this bumped out of the Brewdog core range.

330ml bottle bought from Sainsburys

Poured a light golden amber colour with a slight haze... White head poured fairly thick and foamy then faded to decent light covering... light carbonation... good sticky lacing lines cling to the glass...

Aroma - Light maltiness mixed with a good dose of citrusy and peppery hops, pine, tart fruits (grapefruit, lemons, apples), very floral, quite grassy, faint honey sweetness, light breadiness, some sea salt...

Taste - Good grassy and citrus hop bitterness, light pine, tart fruits (grapefruits, apples), light sweet biscuit malts, hint of wheat, peppery, some salty notes, floral and perfumed...

Feel - Quite smooth with a little bite underneath... light / medium body. Very, very quaffable and refreshing...

Overall - A excellent, straightforward, hoppy and very drinkable APA from Brewdog... recommended...

Golden amber that is very slightly hazy and a very foamy white head that is about an inch thick and slowly fades to leave a two millimetre thick, foamy lacing.

Hops to begin with along with some floral type notes and some grassy ones too. There is citrus, mild pine and a mix of light, summery fruits.There is quite a lot going on but it comes across as being well balanced in aroma at least.

Quite hoppy but not as strong as an IPA. There is some grapefruit, pine and light tropical fruits. I would compare this one to Punk IPA but a watered down, weaker version of the Brewdog flagship beer. A nice beer but nothing outstanding, although it must be noted it is only 3.8% and packs a punch for such a light beer.

Medium in body with a bitter hop tang to it and some bitterness but not a lot. The finish quite dry and crisp.

A very nice beer but not truly outstanding, perhaps slightly watery in areas but it's certainly not that noticeable and is full of flavour for a beer that comes in at under 4% abv.
