330ml bottle. Shaker glass. (From my notes). Orangish amber in color. Not filtered but quite clear appearance. Medium size bubbled froth, off-white in color, creates a lasting, 2cm thick layer crown. Good retention. Smooth aromas & flavors. Sweet malts & ripe fruit –apricot-. Light to medium body. Moderate carbonation. Oily texture. Hops attack in the middle while lasting into the sharp bitter finish. Delightful.

Pours a vibrant orange colour, quite translucent haze. Head is off-white, whispy and dissipated to a ring of bubbles. Lace is OK, but not very impressive. Looks quite standard.

Smells intriguing. Hoppy mostly, with side effects of pepper and herbal tea, mostly. Touch of soil, spearmint and an almost capery bitterness to it. Subdued, but not bad.

Taste is very tangy from the get-go and full of flavour in spite of what the nose said to me. Lemon tang upfront that descends into nutty main palate with nice rye-esque notes, quite sticky with a touch of wet grain on the back. Slightly herbal finish, hint of pine and plenty more nuttiness. Lots of flavour but largely unassertive, with a smooth journey of flavour for the most part. Quite nice; nothing amazing.

Full enough, nice bit of texture to it; fair amount of bittiness. Not bad.

Doesn't really wow me; kind of yells out to be grouped with a whole bunch of other beers similar to it. Hooray for conformity!

The colour is amber (18 EBC), the liquid somewhat hazy. The three finger head is beige and compact. It sinks slowly, leaving some lacing on the glass.

The smell is a bit bitter-citric with quite a lot of grass and hay. Honey, ripe berries and apples, red- and blaccurrants. Medium strong fruity bitterness. Quite a lot of toffee. Fresh, balanced and inviting.

The taste is quite sweet with notes of fresh wood, hay, red currants and some banana peels. Honey drops and butterscotch. Some very distant notes of grapefruit and lime. Medium body. The aftertaste got a growing smooth bitterness, some warming alcohol, hints of flowers and tree sap; it is not as balanced as the initial taste. Dry alcoholic flavours of chalk, wood and unripe red currants in the finish.

The carbonation is mild to medium; the small bubbles quite sharp. The liquid is dry, smooth and a bit sticky.

Out of the four IPA Is Dead beers, I fount this one the least good: Bramling Cross just doesn’t work in this context. Still an OK beer.

330ml bottle from Slowbeer and poured into a Lost Abbey tulip.

Glowing orange appearance, slightly mandarin looking around the edges and has a three finger head of off-white foam.

Smell is initially sweet, like bush honey. Then bready after that.

Taste is very bready and almost Germanic, despite the obvious lack of link between Bramling Cross and German brewing (to my knowledge anyway). A little floral tasting, but mainly bready and malty.

Mouthfeel is balanced, herbal bitterness is pretty even throughout. Medium body and finish that doesn't have you rushing back for more, but lets you appreciate it.

Doesn't really do it for me as an IPA bar the herbal bitterness. Very malty nose and taste. Solidly brewed beer, however.

The beer is hazy copper amber, an off-white head with good lacing. Some curtains.

The smell is grass, nuts and a dash of pine apple.

The taste is rather sweet, brown sugar, some nuts, mostly grass and hay.

Medium carbonation, slightly coarse, a good body, a very dry finish.

This is the most calm, nuanced, balanced of the IPA is Dead series.

A: Pours hazy copper with a large off-white thick head that slowly sinks into nice lacings.

S: Rather mild smell. Citric notes from the floral hops. A bready maltyness in the back.

T: Sweet bready malt together with a rich floral hoppy fruityness. Red apples and lots of citrus; oranges, lemon and some grapefruit. Buttery.

M: So smooth. Aftertaste is the most complex of the IPA Is Deads, sweet bitterness that lasts a really long time. Body is medium and carbonation mild.

O: This was the most "English" of the IPA Is Dead. Very nice and well balanced. The hops weren't piney at all.

Had on tap at the Local Taphouse in Sydney. Good to see them get this on—now will they get the others, I wonder?

Pours a dark golden orange colour, almost coppery, with a fine white head. Lacing forms in clumps down the glass. The body is really nicely thick. Almost looks gelatinous.

Sweet and a little earthy, with some brown organic characters and a little dark fruit. Reminds me somewhat of a blueberry muffin. Bit of earthy leaf, giving a herbal touch. Nice.

Nutty on the palate, with a touch of almond skin giving it a round, and slightly astringent bitter bite. Only mild hop bitterness on the back, and although there's not any sweetness to back up what's there, leaving all the work to the thickness in the body. A little organic on the finish, giving very English earthy characteristics. Quite nice.

Looking forward to trying the rest of the series, if I ever get around to it. This was an interesting start.

Pours orangey amber wtih a large, lasting head.
Nose shows loads of fruity and herbal hops, with peach, berries, earthy notes and wood characters leaping out. Underneath is resinous hops and lots of caramel.
Flavours show a good mix of malt and hops with more herbal, woody, piney and fruity characters backed by resinous hops, a heavy dose of caramel and some alcohol. Finishes with a bitterness that beats the malt in duration if not in strength.
Body feels a little too thick/heavy... probably all that malt eh?
First experience of Bramling Cross. That woody character is pretty interesting, certainly different from the resinous pine characters found in simcoe etc.

Classic amber colour with a small amoutn of hop haze. Lovely, dense, creamy off-white head. Great appearance.

Rounded, creamy, fruity hop aroma with distinct berry fruit notes. Very mild herbal character that adds depth to the aroma. Mild floral and citrus notes. Quite complex for a single hop and really quite stunning.

The flavour is quite different. The malt is certainly only playing a support role but the hop character is resinous, a little herbal and almost smokey. Powerful bitterness. I get a touch of the fruity, berry notes I found in the aroma but the Bramling X seems to lose its finesse as a bittering hop. Nonetheless a decent IPA flavour.

Medium body with moderately-high carbonation.

This is an interesting beer and an interesting hop to use. Bramloing X is an English variety that I am relatively unfamiliar with but the fruity, floral aroma is great. I'm not convinced that it works as a bittering hop and think that a Magnum-Bramling X combo would be a great one-two punch.

Bramling Cross pours out as a very nice slightly hazy orange color. There is a quality head that stays on top of the beer till the last sip. The smell is very fresh and lively. Big amounts of citrus at first and as it warms it becomes a little more earthy. The taste has a nice piny bite upfront that finishes as a light and fresh taste. It's a really interesting brew. I find this beer to be enjoyable and would recommend this to other hopheads out there.

S- lots of citrus and hops. Almost overwhelming.

T- heavy citrus. A little bit of malt. Nothing too special.

M- nice carbonation. Very bitter after taste.

O- this ipa isn't anything special. Better than average.

This is one the lesser beers in my opnion the Brewdog brewers have made. The other beers are more complex than this simple single hop india pale ale.

Poured in my Westvleteren small tasting glass (whu not?) the beers looks not spectacular, the same with the smell and taste. There is a dry and bitte taste of the hops in the mouth.

There are some more brewdogs in my fridge and i think they will do better than this one.

This brew pours a see through light copper hue with decent carbonation that leaves behind a frothy two finger head and a rim of clingy lacing, the smell is a mix of passionfruit, grapefruit, pineapple and boiled candy,it has a medium bodied mouthfeel and has tastes of stonefruit, passionfruit, sticky toffee and finished with a slight tinge of piney, citrusy hoppy bitterness but not entirely bitter just as bitter as having your first bite of an orange and overall its nice and entirely different to the first single hop i have tried cheers.

Pours out a golden orange hue with a solid 2 inch head that dissipitates into good lacing around the rims of the glass. Glints of rich marmalade in the light.

Really interesting aromas of blackcurrant, slight sweet lemon and clean cut grass.

Flavour is distinctive IPA with a really interesting finish from the hops. It's almost lemony marmalade with hints of blackcurrant and raspberry. It's almost jammy in nature, without the sticky sweetness.

It's a delightful IPA, and the first in the sequence of four. I started with this, expecting little from the English hops, but it has worked well, and is something I would not have expected.

I do find the mouthfeel of the base beer a bit subdued for an IPA though, but I guess that was their intention so the hops can dominate.
