330ml bottle, served chilled
Pours with a rich, fizzy body. Eggwhite head sits atop with solid retention. Snake-like lacing up and down the glass
Smell, rich Belgian yeast character. Lots of spicy hops and rich almost barnyard-esque qualities
Taste, crisp hops permeated by lots of Belgian dry yeasty character. Some quinine bitterness and a touch of bubblegum, acetone flavour.
Not sure about this. I have had a few bottles of this, and I've had the standard (non Belgian yeast) Punk IPA. The standard has much greater balance, this doesn't quite add up. Its not a smooth hopped ale like De Ranke, and its not a crisp, Anglo-American ale such as the standard IPA. An interesting experiment, however certainly not something that would hold its own as a year-round release.

Deep orange coor, one finger of white foam, not too long standing, and not too beautiful.
A very strong hoppiness in the smell, with orange and marmelade, pine sap. Very prickly.
Pine sap and citrussy in the taste too, very prickly again.
Pine, mint, maybe eucalyptus.
Not the best in drinkability.

Experimental version, courtesy of Glenn at Alvinne. Thanks Glenn!
A: Bright and clear yellow/orange color with a large white head that settles quickly to reveal moderate lacing.
S: Aroma starts with sulphur, which clears rapidly and reveals notes of sour apple and malt.
T: Flavor begins with sour apple and progresses through floral hoppiness to a bitter finish.
M: Good body.
D: Nice example of the style, more subtle than American versions. Worth trying.

330 ml bottle
A new prototype with a simple homemade looking label "Brewdog Punk Monk" (that's all) kindly sent to me gratis from those kind folks in Fraserburgh.
One of the very finest of Brewdog's offerings. People, well Americans, have complained before about their beers being a bit low on carbonation, but this one is fizzier than any of their other IPAs I've tasted.
Nice fluffy head, but it fades pretty soon. The aroma is delightful and the taste is gorgeous. Very citrus, with lemon and some tropical fruits like mangosteen. The sweetness and hopping balance each other nicely and it is a very interesting beer. I've tasted many of their beers, and this might be the best yet.

Got this direct from the brewery, in a 330ml bottle with a plain white label, with 'Brewdog, Punk Monk' printed on it. It's a prototype beer at the moment I think. From what I have discovered from reading various blogs and article, Punk Monk is Punk IPA brewed with Belgian yeast.
Appearance: It's a golden colour with a bit of carbonation, and a quite rapidly fading white fluffy head.
Aroma: Intensely fruity on the nose, there is a definite lemony citrus, with some pineapple, and possible mango, and passion fruit. There is a hint of sweetness in the background from the malts. Heavily aromatic, fruity and floral.
Taste: The taste is sharp and bitter, much the same as Punk IPA, clear fruity hops, citrus, with a clinging bitterness. The main difference is in the finish, where the Belgian yeast gives it a more mellow, less bitter finish in comparison to the original Punk.
Mouthfeel: Quite light and flowery in the palete, with more carbonation than the appearance suggests.
Drinkability: Great job from BrewDog as usual. A little tweek in the yeast has offered a whole new experience. It is a mellower, slightly more complexly flavoured alternative to Punk. I hope this does go into full production.
