1 Pint, 6.4 oz. Brown Bottle. Imported from Scotland by Anchor Brewing.

A: Pours a hazy golden yellow/orange. Nice bubbly white head. Adequate head
and retention. Lacing is normal for an IPA.

S: Hoppy. Pine. Citrus. is strong. Orange and possible mango. Sugary malts.

T/M: Hops, Pine, Citrus. Really not unlike the aroma. Juicy, sugary and a hint of malts.
Hops are well represented but not over powerful. Dry orange aftertaste.

O: A nice easy to drink hoppy pale ale. Compared to other American IPA's it's actually
pretty weak with the hops. However this really doesn't hurt the beer much at all. A
great IPA from the U.K. A must Try.

Cheers!!

11.2 oz bottle was poured into a pint glass.

Appearance: This beer poured a minimal head that reduced to a thin layer. It is a pale yellow color with good clarity and bubbles coming up through the glass.

Smell: Tangerine and grapefruit delicious. A little lemon in their with some light caramel malts.

Taste: Same as above with some bready notes and mild hop bitterness.

Mouthfeel: Smooth, light to medium bodied, medium carbonation, and easy to drink.

Overall: A nice AIPA from the guys in Scotland. Not that hoppy, not that malty, just somewhere in the middle.

A: Pours yellow/orange/slight amber. Creamy head a d good lacing.

S: Aroma is definitely hoppy - strong line, nice.

T: Nicely hopped but definitely brewed leaning towards Brittish IPA. (I know it is brewed in UK but this brewery has a tendency to stray from the norm).

M: Pretty light and could do more than one.

O: Not sure if may batch is fresh but I like the idea.

The Brewdog Punk IPA I have is my second try on a beer really unique and different.

Its pours a golden, clean yellow with little head that not endure.

The first thing that really call my attention was the smell, a citrusfruit smell that is really outstanding and unforgettable.

The taste follow the smell and bring a citric fruit note that is followed by the strong bitter combination of four hops that the brand is proud of.

The mouthfeel bring the bitterness, and the fruit flavors both. I strongly reccomend this beer because in general its a great beer, with a wonderful smell and taste, a Unique and original IPA.

Punk IPA really worth the trying.

Poured from a 33cl bottle into a standard pint.

A: Dark golden hue. Pours about a finger and a half, frothy, white head. Slight effervescence. Settles very slowly and unevenly leaving craters, and pock marks leaving a foamy buildup around the rim of the glass. Distinct, dry, sticky, beer ring lacing.

S: Pine, lavender, freshly cut grass, and honey.

T: Wheat bread, with pine and a little butterscotch.

M: Very earthy and woody character. Fairly light, very crisp. Punchy hops. Dry finish. Bitterness lingers on the palate throughout.

D: Goes down very easy.

Atmosphere is great. Dark golden coloration, with a large frothy head, and plenty of dry lacing. Nose is strong combinations of floral components, pine, and honey. Earthy flavor with pine and a touch of sweetness. Dry and bitter. Overall, this is a really good quaff.

BBD of 16 Apr 13, got in under the wire

My first brew dog beer if memory serves me correctly

Pours a slightly hazed apricot color with 3+ fingers of cream colored head. Never really cleared up, fantastic head retention & lacing though

S: Orchard fruit & tons of leafy hops & little bit of pine

T: Biscuitty malt, leafy hops a touch of pine resin & chalky dryness up front. Pears & apricot mingle in as this warms, plus leafy & tobacco hops, plus marmalade & more dryness. Finishes dry, fruitty, & leafy with just a bit of orange peel

MF: Medium bodied, slight carbonation, nicely balanced

Seems more British than American to me, not bad, but would only try again if uber fresh, but drinks easy enough

Batch 024. Best before 7/23/13.

Pours a murky orange with a foamy orange-white head that settles to a small cap on top of the beer. Foamy rings of lace line the glass on the drink down. Smell is of malt, citrus zest, and alcohol. Taste is much the same with a citrus zest flavor on the finish. There is a mild amount of hop bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer that has some solid citrus-like hop aromas and flavors.

This was poured from a 12 oz. bottle into a pint glass. There was not much head and it quickly dissipated. The color was cloudy orange. Some lacing was present. Initial smell was a pleasant citrus, but it mellowed out, and was not as detectable later. The taste was a crisp grapefruit with orange and grass notes.

The citrus flavors grew and developed smoothly from beginning to end and lingered after the finish. It was difficult to detect any malt flavors. Mouthfeel was somewhat watery, which made this a very drinkable IPA. The bitterness was not challenging to the palate. Overall, this beer was a good example of a basic IPA.

Hazed goldenrod with a pure white head that drops a smattering of lace. Punch of pine followed by a faint orange flavor. Malt is crackery with a lingering huskiness. Dry finish with just a faint lingering bitterness. Just a bit watery through the middle and end. Decent, but why pay $11 for a 4-pack of average IPA when there are loads of better options on the shelves?

Pours a clear golden with a creamy white head. Aromas of fresh apricots. Taste begins with some apricot, followed by a bit of crackery malt, then an herbal, resinous pine washed finish. Mouthfeel is pretty good. Overall an excellent IPA that is lighter on the alcohol but not flavor, which is quite nice.

Poured from a 330ml bottle into a Leffe Chalice glass and a Skansen Footed Pilsener. Best before 10/10/13.

Pours an amber colour and forms a small head which didn't last too long.

It smells like passionfruit and tastes like passionfruit too. There is a nice balance of bitterness to the sweet fruit flavours. The mouthfeel is pleasant and fresh but otherwise unremarkable.

I would happily drink this again.

Poured into a shaker, gave a nice couple finger white head, pretty good retention and leaves a nice lace and film. Colour is an amber straw gold, with no visible carbonation.

Smell has strong resin grapefruit hops upfront, thick and juicy. Backed up with some chewy bready malt body. Some floral aromas as well, this is quite fragrant. Sawdust. I really like the smell of this.

Taste has quite a bitter piney grapefruit start that cuts well, mostly dry herbal hop bitterness that characterizes this beer. Then opens up a bit. Floral notes and an underlying malt to balance it out quite nicely. A tasty IPA, but unfortunately not a ton of complexity behind the hopd. It finishes dry with lots of pine sap, long finish on this.

Mouthfeel is moderate, a bit watery without carbonation, but I am thinking that this isnt the freshest batch, but I've had this beer numerous times and been impressed so I'll cut it some slack and blame tesco.

Some really good flavour, and a tasty beer that is quite good to drink if looking for a hop-driven IPA. Very much an American style brew, not as complex as some of the premier ones there, but a real solid effort, and it is a real solid session IPA from Brewdog, their brewpubs are awesome also.

Poured from a 1 Pint, 6.4 Fl oz bottle into a pint glass. Best by 15-04-13.

Appearance: Pours a hazy orange with a thin white head.

Smell: Slight alcohol, which is surprising for a 5.6% ABV beer. Caramel malts. Where are the hops?!

Taste: Sugary caramel malt upfront with a slight green grape/white wine flavor on the back end. Fruity and light, but too malty and not enough emphasis on the hops, Isn't this supposed to be an IPA? Unbalanced.

Mouthfeel: Bone dry like champagne. Light and refreshing.

Overall: Another one that I am not too excited about. Too malty, which does not allow the Nelson Sauvin hops to shine through.

This beer (which is now, 5.6% alcohol- I had the 6.1% version) exploded out of the bottle, with foam going everywhere. It made a huge, fluffy, off-white head, had some gritty-type lacing left on the glass, and had a hazy, bubbly, yellow-golden appearance. The aroma is just very faint, but with a deep inhalation I was able to detect some bread and a little bit of a tropical fruit spice. The taste is of straight-forward bitterness, bread crust, light fruit, such as pear or grapefruit, and sugar. Mouthfeel is light and soft, but the finish is lager-like crisp. This beer is overall mellow and drinkable. I say check it out, if you can still find this version.

Batch 117 Good before 6/13.

First time drinking a Brewdog. The brewery has a good reputation
and I wanted to try at least one of their beers. Punk IPA was available.

The beer poured a nice lemon color with a 2 finger head.

Mild lemon-clove aroma from head.

The mouth feel was tangy and worked well with the overall character of the beer.

The finish was the winning element in the beer. Fruity, tangy, lemon with slight bitterness.

Overall this is a refreshing low ABV beer. It's a good alternative to a heavier higher ABV beer. Very drinkable. I can see why the brewery is so popular in the UK. Make sure there is lots of time until the best by date.

A: Golden copper orange color, roughly a finger of white head.

S: Grassy, earthy, sharp, dank, resinous aroma, touch of graininess. Some round fruit notes as well, like mango.

T: Light, crisp, not the normal hop character one would be used to. Very earthy bitterness. Smoothe finish of very lightly sweet and fruity notes.

M: Very light bodied and clean.

O: Always nice to drink something a little different. Great IPA that is a nice change from the NW versions. Earthy, clean, lightly sweet and smoothe.

A- Slightly cloudy orange colored body with a thin off-white head that leaves some bubbles and almost no lacing.

S- Tropical fruit aromas with grapefruit, pineapple, pine, citrus. Smells like a dried whole leaf hop.

T- Tropical fruits come through at the middle and towards the end, but the beginning and finish are lacking flavor. There is a slight malt flavor at the end, but not a whole lot else.

M- Medium bodied, high carbonation, crisp bite.

O- Pretty good IPA, but their IIPA is a whole lot better.

Characteristic amber color IPA appearance. Poured a consistent head with short to medium retention.
Delicious aroma of fruity hops with notes of passion fruit and maybe mango.
Sweet malty taste with perfume hops and resin notes.
Aftertaste is quite dry, bitter and astringent.
Medium body with a medium carbonation and natural small bubbles.

A - slightly hazy dark golden, one finger of white head retained at a thin cover with random lacing
S - mandarin, light toffee and toast, mild floral
T - earthy with light pepper, toasty malt, just not enough hop presence to call this a true IPA, more of a mild english pale IMO
M - relatively light, grainy with slightly musty dry feel
O - its a tasty enough brew but to call this an IPA is not right as far as I can taste, it just doesn't have the hops, i do like it just not as an IPA, still worth a purchase though

The look is as you'd expect from an IPA, Amber to straw color. I get alot of bready - biscuit notes along with grapefruit and citrus. The head dissipates very quickly leaving a very thin head. Balanced carbonation so my stomach is still in tact! Extremely sessional beer, does not drink like a 5.6%, good all rounder, cannot go wrong.

Poured into a highball glass

Pours a hazy brassy yellow topped off with a thick, bubbly, clingy head with pretty good lacing and retention.

Nose is piney with suggestions of orange rind. Some hints of a resinous quality, but very subtle.

The beer is malty, biscuity and sweet upfront, with the hops slowly but steadily creeping up. Hops are fruity and citrusy; lots of orange rind, with slight floral notes. Finishes slightly piney and resiny with a modest bitterness layered on a rather juicy citrus undercurrent. Quite impressively balanced. The beer maintains a pleasant, soft, mellow sweetness throughout.

Mouthfeel is light to medium with good carbonation.

Very, very pleasant and drinkable. I get this feeling that I don’t enjoy it as much as before, but it’s still a very good beer. Perhaps this falls more into an easy-drinking, slightly more intense cross-over beers. I'll most definitely be having a lot more of these in the days to come.

Review from October 12:

A: Honey gold with a frothy white head that settled into a nice thin layer over the beer.

S: Very hoppy. Some orange and bitterness. Very rich and pleasant.

T: Slight malts and sweetness followed by an explosion of bright hop flavours. There’s some bitterness and citrus (orange peel) that really complements the strong hop flavours in the beer. The aftertaste is mostly a soft piny bitterness with a touch of floral notes that I found a little bit lacking, although this might not be entirely bad. It increases the drinkability of the beer, as having all those hop flavours stick around your mouth might not be all that pleasing.

M: Light to decent with good carbonation.

O: One of my preferred IPAs. A very pleasant and fun beer with a strong, distinct character. Very good if you’re in the mood for some refreshing hop-heavy beer.

S: Very strong hop aromas on a sweet base, mostly piny hop aromas;

T: As the smell would suggest the beer delivers a big "hop-festival" with a honey/syrup like sweetness on the palate, a lot of bitterness in the aftertaste, the hops give a floral and piny flavour;

M: Average, yet on the thicker side, medium carbonation;

O: Strong IPA, intense hop flavours with a strong sweetness, perfect if you want a beer with it's focus on the hops.

A: Appears to have some chill-haze. Hazy light amber in color. Medium head retention. Some lacing evident.

S: Brilliant! Grapefruit galore! Very ripe dark citrus (tangerine?) with a hint of pine. Something else there that I can't quite place....

T: Berries and pine upfront. Very unique hop profile. Bright, floral/fruity flavors followed by a deep, rich, complex finish (honey/pine). Bitterness is present but no unpleasant. Fantastic!

M: To style. Medium body, not particularly heavy, not particularly light. Very enjoyable.

This is one of the most unique beers I've tried in awhile... really glad I ran across one at the LCBO. Will definitely grab it again. For an 8-9% IPA it's extremely drinkable!
