I'll agree with gorilla19 in that this is the best beer on the island of Aruba. My only disappointment with this brew is that I have not been able to find it here in "the states". I was told by a local bar tender that they don't sell it here. I'm hoping a liquor store will prove me wrong.

The appearance is very bright and clean. I like the taste. They serve it up with a lime... but I tasted it without the lime squeeze and thought it tasted fantastic. I added the lime for "flare" and didn't think it affected the overall flavor. The mouthfeel is very light and crisp. I rate this pretty high on drinkablilty because no matter what time of year, I could see myself putting a few of these back. Some people on here say it reminds them of Corona. The only thing that reminded me of Corona was the way they serve it with lime. I do not drink Corona and am not a fan of it, but this Amstel is fantastic. I'm not surprised that I enjoyed this because I enjoy most Amstel products. It's very crisp, very clean, very refreshing. It's just a darn good brew, in my humble opinion.

In what may be the official "unofficial" beer of Curacao, the crisp, clean, and bright lager is elected as such as it seems to be the prevalent choice among beer drinkers of the island.

And like many other lagers, it's brilliantly clear straw color promises lightness in taste and refreshment in drinkability. An arid and foamy head pulls from the beer and falls somewhat quickly. But before so, the beer leaves behind spiderweb lacing.

Grainy sweet aromas of dry crackers, thin barley, fresh yeast and dough. Light earth and spice reside early in the aroma while more sulfury apple and citrus notes linger closely behind.

Flavors fare similarly with light sweetness from grain- both barley and cereal. Lightly herbal with mild grassy (hay-like) flavors that turn spicy bitter to balance the malts, but offer little else. Again, a sulfury, match stick-like character seems to crispen the taste as much as hops and give a little strength to apple-like esters. Mild mineral notes seem lightly salty for a tad of richness.

Light bodied, the beer is built for hot tropical weather with zesty refreshment even if it falls thin and dry from middle palate onward. Light minty warmth and slight grain derived astringency closes the beer.

With little to celebrate nor criticize, the beer tastes much like many adjunct riddled beers of bastardized European fame, or worse- American macro swill. But in a pinch it's a refreshing choice with genuine 'beer' taste that water cannot provide.

Appearance: Pale yellow, small white head, leaves no lacing

Smell: Grains and malt sweetness

Taste: Bready malt sweetness with a clean finish

Mouthfeel: Crisp and refreshing

Overall: This is another beer that is only good in hot weather. I had it on my trip to Aruba. I preferred cocktails to the available beer.

Eight ounce bottle. Best Before JUL 2013...damn

A- Two centimeters of white fizzy head. A couple dozen streams of effervescence. Leaves cap and collar for most of the glassful, no lacing.

S- "Wet stank grains" on the nose. Hidden sweetness.

T- Biscuit/bready malt sweetness. No hop presence. Fairly clean finishing.

M- Medium to medium-thin mouthfeel. High carbonation that leaves a stinging sensation on the tongue.

D/O- Couple of things I notices about this 9.3 ounce bottle: It's clear and the label says "drink it ice cold"...that's funny to me. I don't know, it's drinkable if your not looking for flavor. Thanks to my sister for bringing this back from Bonaire for me.

Enjoyed while watching planes land at sunset beach st marteen.
A: clear deep golden body with a thin head. No real lacing.

S: orange and pale malts. Fairly sweet

T: fairly malty but pale malts dominate. Not much fruitiness as was in the aroma.

M: moderate carbonation and light to medium body.

Overall: fuller body than I expected. This is probably witbier-ish. Refreshing and fruity.
