(22 oz bottle, bottled on 10/30/12... purchased at State Line 7 Jan 2018... poured into a Delirium tulip)
(originally gave a 3.5 rating on 22 Dec 2013 - this review was done 13 Jan 2018)

L: contents fizzed out aggressively upon crown removal; liquid is amber color, an off-puttingly murky (disturbance from gushing?), but with a lovely loose, crunchy, thick pad of foam that slowly collapses, but retains a cloudy cap, but doesn't lace

S: could smell the wonderful funky scent when the suds were fizzing out and down the bottle - similar to gueuze? some potent tropical fruit aromas, note of circus peanut (banana); spicy, perfumy brett... bold intensity of smell with surprisingly no major (or minor) 'off' fragrance

T: a bit more complexity to this than when younger; little sweetness; sumptuous static of moderately-bitter citrus peel and dried yellow-orange fruit flavors, plus a nip of nutty yeast in the aftertaste... I suppose the malt has retained a hint of the doughy, mildly 'spicy' elements of the rye... reminds me of a fruit, malt, and brewers yeast smoothie

F: mildly spritzy carbonation at first; thinly sediment-ed texture and flow; delicately slick foaminess with a rather dry finish... bit of residual yeast film left on palate; lingering cool, spicy buzz from brett and booze... feels like the last pours of a live cask beer

O: this is my second purchase of this beer - first time was in Portland, OR (at Belmont Station) in Apr 2013 (a 2012 bottling) - shared that bottle that Dec with friends, and wasn't too zazzed by it... this experience suggests to me that the first bottle may have been a bit young somehow, while this bottle was obviously a little past its peak... considering its explosive start, I'm a bit surprised the flavor wasn't much worse

Poured into a tulip. The color is murky straw. There is a quarter inch off-white head.

The aroma really shows off the brett. There is a nice spicy funk here.

The taste is very dry, with lots of earthy brett taking over. There is a nice tangy rey influenced finish.

This is very drinkable; the brett and rye are well shown here.

Received this as a Christmas gift. Poured into a tulip. This one pours a muddy golden copper with a finger of beige head. A bit of sticky lace.

Spicy rye in the aroma with a nice brett undertone. Hints of a cinnamon and white grapes on the aroma. The pallet is very dry. Hints of white grapes with lots of brett funk on the pallet. Light notes of rye, but it's a bit less noticeable than on the aroma.

The body is light with somewhat sharp carbonation. Overall this one was a nice surprise. Real easy to drink; I'd love more of this.

Shoulder of bottle is clearly marked with a bottle on date, this one is 10/30/12. Poured in to a tulip. Body is a murky amber color, I thought it would be darker being a rye beer. Thin tight off white head fizzes out quickly leaving a ring around the glass and lacing was minimal. Very little rye spice in the nose, mostly sweet malts. The brett doesn't come thru in the aroma category either, still a pleasent smelling beer. A little bit of the rye bill comes thru upfront on the tongue but is quickly taken over by the still muted flavors of the brett. Some hop bitterness is detected as well but no one flavor dominates this beer. Mouthfeel was thin and crisp with decent carbonation. Easy drinkin at 5% and plenty of flavor. Might go back and get another bottle to see how the brett developes over time.
