From 01/02/11 notes. Shared by CaptainCougar (RB)at a local tasting; thanks Tom.
a - Pours a jet black color with one inch of tan head and light carbonation evident.
s - Smells of roasted malts, chocolate, vanilla, and light coffee.
t - Tastes of coffee, chocolate, roasted malts, alcohol, and vanilla.
m - Medium to full body and moderate carbonation.
d - A pretty nice RIS; much better than the Son of Nekron. A little too much alcohol in the taste, but something I would have again.

500 ml bottle, from Voldby Købmandsgård. ABV is 6.5% - unless there is a typo on the rear bottle label (brewery website says 8.5%). Pitch black colour, big brown head. Fine aroma of tar and strong coffee, also hints of smoke, salt water and liquorice. The flavour is smoky and salty with notes of tar and strong bitter coffee. Also bitter hops in the finish. Quite dry. Good stuff, but I'd like a little more sweetness.

Bottle: Poured a deep black color stout with a larger then average foamy head with good retention and minimal lacing. Aroma of light dry bitter roasted malt with some subtle coffee notes. Taste is also a nice mix between some roasted bitter malt with some lightly astringent coffee notes. Body is quite full with some good carbonation and no alcohol was apparent. Overall, I thought this was not too bad but a bit too bland to make me wanted to drink this again.

Sitting at the bar at the Tattoed Widow in Copenhagen the chef appeared from the kitchen with some freshly made dark chocolate treats for patrons and the bartender proceeded to pass them around. What was incredible was the hard caramel-like center in the chocolates- a deep smoky, earthy caramel that turns out was made from Nekron Stout being boiled down to a hard caramel center. After that I had to try it on tap.
Now I am not one to have much of an educated palate that picks up distinct flavors other than "smoky, earthy, fruity, etc..." but I found Nekron incredibly complex. Focusing on taste it started out with a florally / herbal note followed by the smoothness of a milk chocolate or mildly sweet caramel and then ended with the "meatiness" one might come to expect from a more common Stout. I had never experienced so many distinct stages of flavors in a single beer. Amazing! The Tattoed Widow always serves the beer in the specific glass desirable for the style of beer and the Nekron Stout appeared a thick opaque black but not very heady with foam.

Musty aroma and mouldy taste. Received recently in a Denmark trade. Expired, but merely 12 days ago. Black with little head. Pours dark, very coffeeish. Sourness in it and roast.Bitter more than sweet. Nothing like it but not greatly drinkable. Odd one.
