A: Poured a burgundy color with a off white head which has a bit of head retention leaving a small amount of lacing in the 6oz snifter and a nice little collar around the glass
S: The bourbon is immediate but not overpowering as some candy sweetness, toffee and caramel are present to provide a biiger complex nose. A faint Earthiness and slighly toasted oak barrel comes to mind
T: A nice toffee, caramel and candy sweetness greets the plate as does bourbon, plenty of it, yet smooth and not overwhelming. There is a nice floral hop bite buried in there. A bit of vanilla, coconut come out as it warmed as does the heat and residual sugary sweetness.
M: Medium-full body, well carbonated, as it warms it becomes a bit heavier, stickier and boozier on the palate which is perfect
O: Well done!

On tap at Strong Ale 2011. Olde Reliable aged in Pappy Van Winkle barrels.
A: Dark brownish red with a bubbly off-white head.
S: A blast of peanut butter toffee and peanut brittle. Bourbon is strong and smells excellent with accompanying vanilla, oak, and caramel. Earthy hops are faint. Amazing.
T: Caramel blends with toffee and a light earthy hop presence. The beer is moderately bitter with light bourbon in the flavor. Caramel accompanies oak and booze. Compared to the aroma the flavor is a letdown. The amazing peanut butter toffee note is not to be found.
M: Medium body with moderate carbonation. The mouthfeel is silky and sticky.
Overall: Solid flavor and an amazing aroma makes this worth a try.
