Imperial pint at the PDX airport. ESB is a dull dark orange with a small white head that leaves very light, scattered lace.
Smell is citrus, oranges and apricots, on the sweeter side, not to strong. Ironically, it's more pungent then their Hop Monkey IPA that I just had, although that can be a staleness / airport turnover factor...
Taste is pretty smooth, wort like sweet maltiness,a bit of hoppy flavor without undue bitterness, pretty strong apricot flavored English ale ester. ESB is really just a cute abbreviation, this is a PNW pale ale, or an IPA by other standards. I am not rating this to any style, as it's obviously not an ESB, which is fine by me! Note to Laurelwood, if you're having trouble moving this, call it an IPA and quit fronting!
Mouthfeel is pretty smooth, low carbonation, but there's a slight bite to it on the finish. Medium light body.
Drinkability is pretty good, over the top for an ESB, but a tasty, hoppy PNW ale, smooth and drinking for sure.

Our Extra Special Bitter is considerably hoppier and more flavorful than its English cousin. Brewed on January 8th, Elvis' birthday, ESB has "Vegas" loads of fresh hop flavor balanced with subtle caramel malt sweetness. Cheers to the King.
6.6% ABV, 60 IBU, O.G. 15º Plato
Available at Laurelwood 51st.
Had a sampler at the 51st location and filled a growler..
Great golden amber color..
Huge pine and citrus hops with a very tropical yet bitter bite. Very complex and smooth as well.
Dry mouth as it should, but a great aftertaste.. very drinkable..
Go have one!!
