12oz bottle into a pint glass.

Appearance: The beer couldn't manage to produce more than a centimeter head even with a violent pour. It left behind almost no lacing, and was an ugly translucent light yellow.

Smell: Very minimal citrus, with some wheat beer smell. I had to try hard to even detect any aroma at all. My friend opined that it smelled like a Budweiser (it looks like a bad American macrobrew).

Taste: Wow. At the first sip I thought, "Where did this come from??" This beer underpromises and overdelivers. Up front there's a strong spicy flavor. The label notes the presence of coriander, orange zest, and lemon. The coriander and the orange peel are the stars, with the lemon lurking in the background. From start to finish, the coriander and orange peel are clear and strong, and the marriage of flavors is delicious. The 6.6% alcohol is entirely unmasked and, in my opinion, elevates the taste and experience as the beer segues into a nice, malty finish.

Mouthfeel: Smooth and refreshing with a hit of carbonation and alcohol in the middle and a long, pleasant malt finish. Very nice.

Drinkability: Excellent. I could have several of these.

---

Note: I had this beer at Papacito's in Greenpoint. I started out drinking it by itself, then with chips and a nice spicy salsa, then with my pablano omelette. Despite the very strong and spicy flavors of the food with which it was paired, the flavor of this beer was never overwhelmed; it was barely even affected. I felt kind of silly pairing this beer with such aggressive food, but it turned out I was worried over nothing.

Something about an ugly, odorless witbier that powers through crystal clear, deliciously married spice and fruit with strong alcohol and malt even when battling palate-frying Mexican food strikes me as very endearing. Impressive beer that will spur me on to try more brews from this brewery.
