Enjoying out of the bottle as I don't have my proper glassware with me; if I try it again with a glass I will edit this review.
Enjoyed slightly warm, as dark beers lend themselves quite well to. Smell is alcoholic and malty, slightly roasted. Taste follows; I must be used to American Porters, because this Baltic one tastes more like a strong lager than a porter. Mouthfeel is full and fizzy. Still a great beer, just a little different than expected.

Nose and body: Light roast, dark fruit plum, cherry. A touch of chocolate. Lightly roasted coffee. Low bitterness. Creamy body. Lingering dark fruit, and tossed malt.

poured from 12oz bottle into pint glass. only "dating" i could find was 17M15.

first off, i'm taking a best guess here that this is the beer I'm drinking. BA lists an Imperial Baltic Porter and an Imperial Porter with the same abv. Southampton's website only lists one porter. bottle label i'm looking at states "inspired by the Baltic Porters of centuries past". anyway, here goes.

looks pretty good in the glass, solid black body with decent head and lacing.

faint aroma of some booze, which is surprising considering that it's only 7.2abv, which to me is less than Baltic porter standards. some dark fruit as well.

Taste is good, malt isn't overly roasted so its smooth going down. dk fruit taste in the finish. mouth is closer to thin that medium, which was a little disappointing.

overall, wouldn't of thought of it as a baltic, but still quite pleasant and drinkable.

Poured into snifter. It pours a deep, dark mahogany - almost black - with a one-finger, mocha-colored head and lacing. It smells of strong coffee, chocolate, roasted, malt, nuts, and vanilla. The taste follows the nose but with more chocolate and caramel sweetness than I anticipated. There is just a slight bitterness at the finish. The tastes blend nicely. The only disappointment is that the body is a little thin. There is no discernible alcohol taste and with an ABV of 7.2%, it is easy to drink. I think the name "Imperial" Porter is a little misleading. Overall, this is a tasty porter. It could be pared with a meal, as a dessert beer or for casual pub-drinking.

Had on-tap at Champs in State College.

L: Pours a dark, dark brown... nearly black with a thin tannish head.

S: Coffee and roasted malts. Mild chocolate notes.

T/F: Definitely a porter (not quite an Imperial?) with some great chocolate and coffee notes. Roasted malts and dark fruits in the finish. Smooth and creamy. Moderate carbonation.

O: A very satisfactory porter... somewhere between a standard and imperial in my opinion. Nice flavor profile but not a 'must try'. Great to mix up in a session.

Not much in the way of anything for this beer. Indestinct generic taste as if it had the same malty consistency of a Guinness. Although it says it's an imperial the abv of seven plus is disguised well. Not much of a finish but a slight bitterness.

This is not an imperial beer at all. An imperial ale starts at 9%. The brewery fools people buy naming and saying the beer is stronger than it is. They have other beers named similarly and they don't match style. I drank the beer and was the first craft beer I ever poured down the drain. It was weak in flavor and lacked everything a porter needs. I was more disappointed that the beer deceived me than the taste. But over all its a bad beer.
