Poured into a Le Cheval Blanc pint glass. Pours a hazy deep gold with orange highlights and a rocky, light tan head of about two fingers. Head drops slowly.
Aromas of light citrus, fruity, apricots, and earthy. Good caramel malt backbone.
Flavors of bitter orange peel, earthy, a little musty. Almost a perfect balance of bitter and malt.
Mouthfeel is slightly astringent, from hop bitterness, not as a brewing fault. Mouthcoating bitterness.
Overall a decent example, more on an English IPA than American. Not over the top or face puckeringly bitter. If you're looking for a hop bomb, this is not your beer. If you're looking for a nicely balanced, English knock-off, this is your beer.
