A: Slightly hazy dark yellow with an enormous pillowy white head. Much lacing.

S: Lemon, wheat, faint sulfur, and a prominent lactic presence. Lightly phenolic with some pepper.

T: Lightly tart up front with lots of wheat and a pervasive lactic sourness. Lemon blends with a light spiciness. Finishes dry and lightly tart.

M: Very high carbonation and light in body.

Overall: Highly drinkable and quite enjoyable. Recommended.

Bottle 115 of 450

The beer is a straw yellow hue, appearing cloudy and hazy. The head is white and measures approximately a quarter inch. The aroma offers wheat, bread, grape skins, and a light yeast character. I am really enjoying the flavor. Tartness / sourness is present but mild. Light bodied, refreshing, and incredibly easy to drink. Overall, I am very impressed. I definitely recommend trying this should you have the opportunity.

Thanks Craytonic for this gem, again a Southampton berleiner that needs to be mass produced so it can be available in many markets, a very enjoyable beer.

Beer is yellow and hazy with aggressive carbonation, a nice head with decent retention and some lacing, looks great.

Aroma is lactic and fruity, sweet and sour. Very nice.

Beer is thin in body a little watery and very effervescent on the palate. The finish is tart and creamy with this late fruitiness to it, a very nice little beer. I really enjoyed it.

Bomber from the 2012 release, poured into a medium-sized Duvel tulip. Big thanks to Dan's friend Mike for sharing this one.

A: Tons of floaties in a yellow-orange body under a fluffy, inch-thick white head. Mediocre retention, almost no lace. Kinda not good.

S: Sourness right off the bat, with grapefruit, chalkiness, and passionfruit. Unique and hugely enjoyable.

T: Lactic sourness, solid fruitiness, and some long, chalky minerality. The fruit notes include lemon, grapefruit, passionfruit, and apple. Very dry, clean finish. Great.

M: Hugely prickly, overcarbonated, thinned-out body. Not good.

O: What an interesting beer; it's ugly and has a terrible texture, but boy does it taste amazing. I'm really curious what more time in the bottle would do to it, although I'm in no way sure it would change for the better. This is a bizarre beer, and one I'm very glad I got to try.

Appearance: fizzy peach-yellow with very aggressive carbonation, thus good lacing and head
Smell: Very nice, lightly sour with wheat, citrus and honeysuckle. Taste: Quite enjoyable, honeysuckle, wheat, light sourness, golden fruits. Very refreshing, I could drink this one all day
Mouthfeel: Carbonation is just too aggressive, it detracts some from the beer. Very light body and quite dry.
Overall: Great beer, should be produced in quantity

Bottle 115 of 450.

Pours a slightly-hazy yellow color with a nice white head that has some super-fizzy foam, yet still has nice retention. A bit of a collar throughout. The nose carries faint acidity and really nice fruit character. There's a bit of peach plus some nice honeydew. A bit of wheat in there as well.

The flavor hits the same spots. There's light acidity and a dry wheat base, plus great notes of peach, apricot, and honeydew. A bit of miscellaneous melon and fruit salad in there. This is similar to the regular Southampton Berliner, yet not quite as pungent, which is a bit strange considering the name and general imperial nature of this one.

Light body with heavy carbonation and a crisp, dry finish with a moderate dose of acidity. This is one of the better berliners that I have come across, perhaps only surpassed by its younger sibling.

Pours a hazy hay/yellow with a fluffy white head. Smell is slightly sour with some wheat. Flavor is fantastic, it really is a big version of a berliner, with some light tartness, wheat and excellence. Mouthfeel is the only real knock on this beer, it's a little too carbonated. Overall, this beer is awesome, and I'm quite glad I got a chance to try it.

Review #700. Bottle 27/450. Poured from a 22oz. foiled and capped bottle 22oz. bottle into an oversized Southampton snifter. Shared by schen9303. Time to try a slightly different reviewing style!

Color is clear goldenrod. Coarse white head with poor retention. Nice lace. Decent clarity for the style.

Nose is super clean. Yeasty. Lemon, yogurt, white grape, and lactose. Really aromatic and appetizing.

Lemon, white grape, yeasty. Mellow taste. Finish is yeasty with a filmy aftertaste. Really clean and delicious.

Light bodied with high carbonation. Goes down easy but aggressive. Really drinkable. Exactly what I want from the style.

Not close to what this one is on tap but its still one of the most solid berliner weisse beers I've ever had. A definite under-the-radar offering.

Poured from the standard pressure cap 22oz. bottle into a Southampton snifter at low altitude. Had this on tap at the release and I'm really looking forward to trying this one again.

A: Pours a beautiful mostly opaque golden color like a bottle of fresh cider before shaking. Creamy two-finger stark white head recedes to a cap relatively quickly, but this is still a really beautiful-looking beer. Leaves some night spotty lacing on the glass throughout the session.

S: Apples, sour yeast notes, fresh olives and light wheat in the background. The smell is relatively strong and very enticing.

T: Complex sour yeast notes up front on par with some of the best Belgian lambics I've tried to date. After that, some sweet apple/pear notes and a slightly grassy wheat body followed by a very clean finish. I find it hard to stop drinking this after I've started.

M: Light-bodied and very nicely carbonated with a drying finish. Suits the flavors to a tee -- almost perfect.

D: This is a beer so good it's difficult to stop drinking after you've started, especially given its lightness. It's sour and cleansing in all the right ways. An absolute pleasure that I hope to have again next year.

A: Really beautiful appearance. Looks like hazy, light cider. But what really carries the appearance is the sight of those tiny carbonation bubbles near the bottom of the glass. Before a drop even hits your tongue, you know you are going to get a crisp, light, fresh-tasting beverage.

S: The smell of fresh, sour apples. Not overpowering by any means. In fact, it reminds me a lot of the apfelwein I drank in Frankfurt. The only downside is that the smell seemed to dissipate very quickly.

T: The taste is exactly what you'd imagine based on the appearance and smell alone. It's crisp, fresh, light, carbonated, and a hefty dose of sour apples (perhaps a tad too sour). It leaves a nice tingling sensation on your tongue.

M: Very, very smooth. The carbonation is the only reason that this beer doesn't go down like water (I really like the carbonation, because the prickly sensation pairs well with the crisp, sour taste of the beer).

I could actually drink this all day. There's so much going on between the sour apples, carbonation, and smoothness that I really do not think I could be bored by this drink.
