Pours a straw color with a nice white head. The usual aroma of lemon, lemon zest, and just an overall lactic acidity is present. There’s a strong green apple note, light straw and grass, and some biscuit malt. The flavor has an almost sour champagne feel to it. Decently yeasty with some biscuit dough along with the pronounced lactic tartness. A touch of funk, maybe some yogurt?

Bomber from the 2012 release, poured into a medium-sized Duvel tulip. Big thanks to Dan's friend Mike for sharing this one.

A: Tons of floaties in a yellow-orange body under a fluffy, inch-thick white head. Mediocre retention, almost no lace. Kinda not good.

S: Sourness right off the bat, with grapefruit, chalkiness, and passionfruit. Unique and hugely enjoyable.

T: Lactic sourness, solid fruitiness, and some long, chalky minerality. The fruit notes include lemon, grapefruit, passionfruit, and apple. Very dry, clean finish. Great.

M: Hugely prickly, overcarbonated, thinned-out body. Not good.

O: What an interesting beer; it's ugly and has a terrible texture, but boy does it taste amazing. I'm really curious what more time in the bottle would do to it, although I'm in no way sure it would change for the better. This is a bizarre beer, and one I'm very glad I got to try.

A: Slightly hazy dark yellow with an enormous pillowy white head. Much lacing.

S: Lemon, wheat, faint sulfur, and a prominent lactic presence. Lightly phenolic with some pepper.

T: Lightly tart up front with lots of wheat and a pervasive lactic sourness. Lemon blends with a light spiciness. Finishes dry and lightly tart.

M: Very high carbonation and light in body.

Overall: Highly drinkable and quite enjoyable. Recommended.

Pours very foamy into a hefeweizen glass; when it settles down, there's a dense, pale head on a slightly hazy yellow and bubbly beer. The smell is crisp minerals in faint vinegar, with some citric notes and a little graininess. The taste is a little sweet upfront, more like corn than sugar, with a mild sourness through the middle and a hint of bitterness at the end. It's quite fizzy, which offsets the full body quite well. An excellent beer, though not quite as tart as I'd hoped it would be.

Review #700. Bottle 27/450. Poured from a 22oz. foiled and capped bottle 22oz. bottle into an oversized Southampton snifter. Shared by schen9303. Time to try a slightly different reviewing style!

Color is clear goldenrod. Coarse white head with poor retention. Nice lace. Decent clarity for the style.

Nose is super clean. Yeasty. Lemon, yogurt, white grape, and lactose. Really aromatic and appetizing.

Lemon, white grape, yeasty. Mellow taste. Finish is yeasty with a filmy aftertaste. Really clean and delicious.

Light bodied with high carbonation. Goes down easy but aggressive. Really drinkable. Exactly what I want from the style.

Not close to what this one is on tap but its still one of the most solid berliner weisse beers I've ever had. A definite under-the-radar offering.

A big thanks goes out to discord257 for sending this one my way in a very recent trade! Bottle #313 of 450. Served from bottle into a Boulevard Smokestack tulip. Poured a fluorescent yellow with a pure white one finger head that subsided to a minimal amount very slowly. Maintained nice lacing throughout the glass. The aroma was comprised of sweet malt, tart, subtle sour, and citrus rine. The flavor was of sweet malt, tart, sour, and citrus. It had a light feel on the palate with high carbonation. Overall this was a pretty good brew. There was a lot more of a citrus aspect going on in this one that I would have expected if I am honest. The appearance on this one was really nice as it seemed to glow while you were looking at it. I really hope to get the opportunity to try the original Berliner from Southampton in the future based on this one. A definite must try.

Bottle #89

Pours a lot of fizzy white head. Color is a hazed golden yellow. Leaves lace.

Aroma: Wheat with light spices and grassy hops. Citrus fruits. Very light. Some funk.

Taste: Wheat and spice. Flavors remind me of grapes. Cloves. Citrus. Fairly fruity. Not overly funky though.

Mouthfeel: Clean and bubbly. Light bodied with a higher amount of carbonation. Ends dry.

Overall, this was a very tasty beer. Extremely light and drinkable. A subtle funkness to it which I enjoyed. Nothing extreme.

2011 vintage. Bottle # 280/450.

Pours a clear yellow with a white head that settles to a film on top of the beer. No lacing on this one. Smell is of grain and some sour/tart fruity aromas. Taste is pretty much the same. This beer has a higher level of carbonation with a very crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a good beer but the carbonation level is quite high.

A - Pours a golden yellow color, fizzy white head, thin collar.

S - Citrus peel, light malts, spice, light tartness, wheat and bready notes in there too. Good, but not quite on the level as the regular SH Berliner, IMO.

T - Fruity citrus, floral, wheat, breddy malts, some tartness. A bit bland on the palate, if you ask me. I thought I would fall in love with this beer, but alas, it doesn't quite live up to previous SH expectations. Finish is tart citrus.

M - Light body, good carbonation, dry finish.

O - A good berliner, but didn't blow me away like I was expecting. A bit of a let-down, but still, not bad at all. I'd have again, and it's super-easy to drink but not worth the chase, IMO.

Pours a slightly hazy straw yellow with a big white head leaving good retention and lacing.

Smells of grainy malt with an underlying funk and some lemon.

Similar flavors. Very grainy texture with bits of lemon. There also seems to be much less wheat presence and an almost brett like funk throughout.

Definitely not light as a normal berliner, but not unexpected due to the uber. Carbonation is too high and too prickly to let the subtle flavors come out.

Really kind of disappointed with this one. I usually love Berliners, but this one was too carbonated and lacked the nice subtle sour mash tartness I usually like in the style.
