I've been here quite a few times and always enjoy myself. It's right across from my college, Franklin and Marshall. The Iron Hill building is owned by the college. There are a few more shops on the street level with the brew pub and up above is very nice student housing. The architecture is in keeping with the magnificent brick buildings on campus.
There's good parking behind the brewery, just make sure you don't use the student parking.
Inside is quite elegant with high ceilings, lots of wood, and big windows, which thankfully are covered with moveable shades when needed to keep the sun out of your eyes while dining. It's a big space with two dining areas, a good-size bar and high stool bar tables.
The beer menu always has something I can appreciate, and in the last few years has had more IPAs than previously. Just yesterday I had their special release Kryptonite double IPA, which is all it is cracked up to be.
The food menu is extensive. I had a black bean burger and side salad yesterday and quite enjoyed it. The sandwich prices are moderately priced. The entrees, while quite good are on the expensive side; say about $23 per plate. My sandwich with salad was $10.
The wait staff were friendly and engaged.
There's a good mug club if you are so inclined.

Overall I do enjoy Iron Hill for the food. Iron Hill Brewery does pump out beer but I'm typically not impressed or in the mood to drink it, unless I get my hands on one of their seasonal bottles that usually are available closer to Thanksgiving. The food here is typically fantastic and reasonably priced. I would recommend anyone to visit Iron Hill for some great food and maybe for a beer or two, but when the Fridge is right down the road I will sacrifice Iron Hill's food for their selection.

I was vacationing in Lancaster with my wife and young daughter, and we were looking for a nice place to go out for my wife's birthday that was also kid friendly. This restaurant was on a list of choices reccommended by the hotel where we were staying. Being a BA member I was immediately interested when I saw a brew pub on the list. My wife (a picky eater) checked out the menu and commented on how copious and interesting the choices were. She was also impressed that they had an ample kid's menu. I checked out the beer menu and it was all systems go.
Let me tell you that this place did not dissappoint. The food was fantastic and well priced. Not cheap, but by no means expensive..just a really solid value. The type of menu where you can eat well for not a lot of money or eat really well if you wanted to splurge. The atmosphere was upscale and classy, yet noisy enough that you wouldn't be embarassed to bring your kids.
Being predominately an IPA drinker I decided to stray away from my comfort zone and try something else since the menu of brews was so comprehensive. I had the porter..I think it was called the pigiron porter, and the saison. Both were great. And for $5 for 16oz a good bargain as well.
And to top it off they brought a piece of delicious chocolate mousse cake for my wife's birthday-FOC. Brews, food, service, experience..all great! I'd go back any chance I got and would recommend this place in a heartbeat...to anyone really...a place that has something for everyone. Well done!!

An exceptional place. Definitely an upscale feel. Large, spacious rooms, but sound levels aree moderate.
Great beer selection. Both tastes and samplers. The ability to get reasonably priced ($1.50) samplers was great. (And the serving w/ labels hepled!) After tastings, my wife enjoyed the Rauchtoberfest and I loved the Iron Bound Ale.
Our server was very knowledgeable and extremely helpful. Service was prompt and unobtrusive.
Food awesome. Bisque, pizza, salad.
Just want them to open near me in New York!
