12 oz bottle at about 45F, poured clear orange-amber with a creamy head of moderate size and retention. A good bit of lacing is left on the glass. Contract brewed by Thomas Creek in SC,
S: Smells rather like a lager with more malt and light Belgian yeast.
Tastes more like a Belgian amber than it smells. Also tastes a bit like a nut brown ale. The Belgian yeast is subtly evident.
M - Light body; medium carbonation.
O: decent but uninteresting amber. With the "Monk ..." name and the fine label, I was hoping for a little bit more Belgian style in this beer, but it did become more appealing and nuanced with addtional tasting. .

Half finger off white head with decent lacing and little retention on a clear amber body. Aroma is simple with caramel and toasted malts with hint of citrus hops. Flavor is very sweet with candy sugar and caramel on a toasted malt base. Oily, medium body and moderate carbonation. This one is too sweet for me. It's also very simple. Drinkable yes but wouldn't go for another.

[Suggested Glassware: Shaker Glass]
It poured a clear medium amber with an average (1-2 finger) off white creamy head that offered up great retention, finally reducing to a long lasting thin cap and had excellent sheets of lacing.
The aroma was extremely mild of a light grain malt, mild herbal hops and a light earthy yeast with notes of caramel, a bit of spice and a light fruity ester.
The taste was very different from the aroma. It was bold, very malty and a tad sweet with a big note of caramel that lasted throughout, with the finish having a mild fruitiness and a small bite of spiciness towards the end. The flavor hung around for a decent amount of time proceeding the swallow, with a nice sweet malty taste that was left to linger on the taste buds for a while longer.
Mouthfeel was just under medium in body with a creamy yet mildly dry texture and a soft carbonation.
Overall I was rather taken by surprise with this very impressive organic Amber Ale. It possessed a ton of flavor and an awesome drinkability. This is most likely is the best organic beer I have tasted to date...

Bottle poured into a glass.
A - Looks like a nut brown ale. Not much of a head, but was poured, by the waitress, from the bottle into a glass.
S - Not much to it. Smells like a pilsner with more malt.
T - Tastes like it smells. Definitely does not taste like a red ale, but I've been spoiled by Cigar City's red (Tocobaga) for quite some time. Tastes like a pilsner with more malt and a strong nutty flavor.
M - Very, very light for a 5.5%. A very drinkable beer - not what I was expecting - in fact, I was hoping for something much heavier.
O - Worth a try, but I won't be having another.
Intersting note: Outsource brewed. Made by Inlet Brewing in Jupiter, FL, but brewed in NC...

This is a terrific brew. A friend turned me on to it down here in South Florida, I'm so glad that he did. It has great flavor, color, and texture. And it's great to see it being sold in more nearby locations to my house - including my local 7-Eleven. Awesome! It will always be offered in my home when guests come over!

Got this an extra in a recent trade with Unclejazz. Poured into a pint glass. This one pours a clear light amber with a finger of white head.
Lots of bready malts up front with a faint grassy hop aroma in the background. A little bit of an old fruit aroma in the background. Yeasty malt on the pallet with a little bit of a bitter grassy hop finish. Not to bad but doesn't seem to pull one way or another.
The body is light with good carbonation. Overall this one isn't bad. I'm not crazy about it but I'll enjoy it this time.

A: clear translucent amber color. Good amount of head poured from bottle. Good amount of lacing.
S: smells yeasty. Not very strong though.
T: Citrusy. Slight hop, bit of a sweet aftertaste
M: crisp, hoppy, full feel. Covers tongue sharply
O: overall solid amber. Good flavor, fits nicely on the water or on the beach. Had it multiple times now and always enjoy it.

The unknown local beer from Heatwave33. Here goes nothin!
Very light amber color, almost like Yuengling. Semi-frothy bright white head floats atop. Not bad carbonation.
Smell is slightly acrid. Hints of dry grains, caramel malts. Astringent smelling. uh oh.
Spicy corn, hints of rye, and other adjunct grains. Caramel malt is somewhere in the background, actually offsetting the spicy rye flavors. Not real sure if there is rye, but it feels like it. The initial spiciness subsides, leaving a nice caramel smoothness that i like. maybe a touch of diacetyl.

12oz bottle poured into Sam Adams Perfect Pint Glass
A: Nice clear copper color with a good 1 finger and a 1/2 of head that settled to a nice layer with good lacing.
S: Very Amber smelling... I'm getting a nice aroma of sweet malt, little spices, hint of yeast and a blast of caramel.
T: Taste is a look like the smell very sweet malt with caramel and spices. Aftertaste is very malty and yeasty. Pretty much right on with the Ambers I've had.
M: Good mix of light and medium body... Carbonation is pretty light and I like that... I think that brings it up to a little more medium bodied
D: Overall, a very solid Amber... Worth looking for if you like the style.
My first Inlet Brewing Co. beer.... Not a bad start.

Appearance: Perfectly clear burnished gold. Head is bright-white. Drops pretty quickly. Negligible lacing. Head thins to a small ring around the edge of the glass. Standard fare here.
Smell: Caramel malts and a big biscuity kick. Apple skins and cereal grains. Minerality hides in the back. Did someone roll a red apple in some biscuit dough? Slightly grassy. Oddly sweet as well. It hits on par for the style, but lacks depth. The entire aroma is up front and disappears in seconds.
Taste: Malts and more malts. Sweet caramel malts and a doughy hit of biscuit. Grassy aftertaste. Flavor disappears almost as fast as the aroma did. Faintly spicy, but loaded up with apples and biscuits. Apple skin in particular. Faint hints of toasted malts, but it's barely there and desperately needed. Not a lot of depth.
Mouthfeel: Nice and smooth. A touch creamy with a moderate carbonation. Body pushes the high side of medium. Easily the best aspect of this beer.
Overall: Decent, but lacking depth and structure. It's all up front and then done.

GallowsThief kindly sent this to me perhaps having seen my beer fest persona of Brother Woody of the Order of Disorder or perhaps because he felt generous. Either way, I'm down with it and it is time to drink some beer!
From the bottle: "This unique copper-colored ale derives its fruity, slightly spicy aroma from authentic Belgian Abbey Yeast. The subtle nutty and malty sweet flavors sing in harmony with the freshest organic hops available. Monk In The Trunk devotees are known to chant about its most intriguing quality, true drinkability. The inspiration to create this fine organic beer was provided by the tale of a legendary Belgian Monk who spanned the globe in search of only the best ingredients from this fertile Earth. Drawn to our shores by the great beacon which is the Jupiter Lighthouse, he discovered the missing component to fulfill his quest to brew the perfect beer. In the spirit of the Monk, the Inlet Brewing crew suggest you keep it real ... drink organic (and responsibly).
I got just over two fingers of dense, tawny head off of my pour that looked like the top of an ice cream float. Color was a coppery reddish-amber with NE-quality clarity. Nose had a sugary malty sweetness to it that is usually not my bag, but I soldiered on. Mouthfeel was medium with a nutty, slightly sweet taste in the mouth. I was relieved that it was not as sweet as the nose led me to expect, but it was not all that tasty, either. It lacked any kind of Oomph that might have separated it from other beers of the style. Finish was pleasant but otherwise not noteworthy. It was a pretty middle-of-the-road beer and I appreciate the gesture, but it would not be worth seeking out.

prior to purchasing we noticed this from the Inlet Brewery of Jupiter ,Fla . which actually not quite true it is actually brewed/bottled in North Carolina. ....read on I thought we were were going to rewarded with another Belgian style ale this resembles a poor Amstel light at it's best
poured into a Pint glass, medium carbonation, then settles quickly.lacings well..not much really
Amber color more like orange , hops noted but minimal and appears to be almost artificially carbonated .
Very poor and was dissappointed in smell ,taste, finish and an extremely high price for a six pack. They have some learning to do if they want to stay in business and call this a Belgian ale. see my review of Palm ales corp brewer crap
ale for dead parrots and budweiser fans,it's from a trunk alright, someone's swimtrunks

Poured into a Town Hall Brewery globe on August 12th 2011.
Pours a dark honey color with a solid 2 fingers of head that dissipates to nothing. Nice color but it need more body and lacing.
Smell is sweet and fruity. A little yeast and spice.
Taste is much of the same as the smell but not as wanted. I want more sweet and less belgian froth. Good beer though.
Mouthfeel is very light and rolls through out the pallet without a problem.
Overall a great beer with few flaws but huge flaws. I need more from the taste.

S: sweet bready aroma with a berry aroma
T: yeasty and bready flavor. Sweet dark berries and hint of hops to nicely balance
M: Medium bodied beer with good carbonation

Bottled - Poured into pint glass
Style - Hits the notes for the beer style
Nose - Subdued a bit but malt and hops are there
Mouth - Again about what the style calls for but perhaps a little more than average
Finish - Initially mostly malt but the finish brings on more of the hops and definite dryness.
A decent brew for a session and a good stater brew to introduce friends to the style

12oz bottle into tasting glass.
A: A rich copper body that has a nice clarity to pours a off white, almost tan head. Formation is good, as well as the retention, that sinks into a soft layer. Carbonation is present.
S: Classic amber aroma, with a bit of a citrus hop aroma. Notes of a bready, orange note. Maybe a bit too hoppy for style, but sure does smell good.
T/M: This is a nicely balanced beer, hop presence is shown, but does not overpower the rich malty character. Smooth mouthfeel, that does justice to the style. Flavors of bready malts and as the nose suggested citrus hop profiles. Lowering in ABV, but still holds a nice warming effect.
O: A good shot at the style and was throughly enjoyed, while not as rich in caramel malts presence, the balance between hops and malts were very well done.

The beer pours a dark golden/amber color with a thick frothy white head that slowly fades to lacing. The aroma is decent. It has a basic pale and crystal malt scent along with a fruity Belgian Abbey yeast aroma. The yeast character is actually quite good and well pronounced. The taste is decent as well. It has a simplified malt bill that boasts of pale and crystal malts. It has a mild caramel sweetness along with a rather nice yeast character. It's full of fruity esters. The mouthfeel is fine. It is a medium bodied beer with adequate carbonation. This is a very drinkable beer. It's not a true Belgian-style ale, but I've had much worse than this. It's easy drinking and the yeast character is spot on.

Thanks DmanGTR!
A: Pale amber gold, crystal clear with a bit of white head on top, although it dissipates fairly quickly.
S: Fruity, biscuity, lots of berries and syrup in this brew.
T: Definitely a nice belgian yeast flavor in there. Bready, biscuity, and full of dark berries. Good touch of malt to balance out the touch of bitterness form the hops.
M: Medium body, and typical belgian style carbonation. The finish is dry.
D: Very nice. Not sure if I could do a whole night of them. But very tasty, and definitely original.

Special thanks to Pittsky who sent me this as an extra.
A: Hmmm... For an amber, the color is not very amber... more orange in nature actually. It is crystal clear in transparency and the head was about 2-3 fingers.
S: No floral notes or hoppiness of any kind. I smelled rusted metal and a bit of yeast. A bit of Belgian funk, but no fruitiness to balance it out.
T: The taste is a bit better, but not much. Thin-bodied with a very faint fruit (pear or apple?) and hop presence that tried its damnest to poke through the yeast and malt.
M: Very thin, not creamy in the slightest, and carbonation seemed (and looked) a bit on the flat side.
D: I decided to stick it out and finish the bottle, but I won't be getting this again.

There was an overpowering fishy taste to the beer. I lost the Belgian-y esters and the malty notes I was hoping for. I remember catching the off-flavors on an earlier bottle I'd picked up, but nothing as strong as this. After three sips, it was a bottle dump. And that's rare for me.

Pours an amber color with a nice and frothy white head that leaves good lacing. Aromas of caramel and toasted bread, along with hay and a nuttiness, fruity esters, and belgian yeast. The flavor is spicy with notes of rye and white pepper, along with some biscuit and caramel, fruity esters, toffee, pear and some alcohol. The mouthfeel is sharp and drinkability is limited. This one is pretty rough around the edges, with an intense spiciness.

12oz bottle courtesy of Casey, poured into a tulip.
Pours a crystal clear golden amber with a big fluffy beige head that recedes slowly to a small cap with decent lacing.
Aroma is pretty basic with sweet apples, caramel malts and a bit of earthy hops. There is also a lightly toasted character and some fruity esterse in the nose as well.
The taste is even more basic with some very, very light caramel malts with little else. There's a slightly bitter, toasty finish.
The mouthfeel is light to medium bodied with soft carbonation.
This is not a bad beer but certainly nothing to write home about, especially the taste which is very one dimensional and bland.

Orange color with nice light 1-finger head. Good retention and decently thick lace.
Nose is initially very berry like. Orange citrus sneaks in, too. Picking up Belgian yeast as the glass warms.
Slightly fruity hit with berries but no citrus. Gets tart almost immediately and finishes by adding in a bit of sweet candy sugar - but just a bit. Reminds of a berry flavored weiss.
Feel is very thin. Of course, this is a south Florida beer that needs to satisfy in the warm weather.
On a hot day, this would be ok but not terribly exciting.

Pours a clear amber with a nice thick white head.
Smell is a crackery and yeasty.
Taste is slightly tart and bready. Pretty poor.
Mouthfeel is good.
Drinkability is very average.
A big let down. I guess the east coast can't keep up with the west coast of florida.
