A: pours a golden amber color with about a quarter inch of head that disappears fairly quickly leaving a good trace of lace around the edge of the glass and top of the beer. Carbonation can be seen rising to the top

S: sweet bready aroma with a berry aroma

T: yeasty and bready flavor. Sweet dark berries and hint of hops to nicely balance

M: Medium bodied beer with good carbonation

overall, i enjoyed this brew

12 oz bottle at about 45F, poured clear orange-amber with a creamy head of moderate size and retention. A good bit of lacing is left on the glass. Contract brewed by Thomas Creek in SC,

S: Smells rather like a lager with more malt and light Belgian yeast.

Tastes more like a Belgian amber than it smells. Also tastes a bit like a nut brown ale. The Belgian yeast is subtly evident.

M - Light body; medium carbonation.

O: decent but uninteresting amber. With the "Monk ..." name and the fine label, I was hoping for a little bit more Belgian style in this beer, but it did become more appealing and nuanced with addtional tasting. .

Half finger off white head with decent lacing and little retention on a clear amber body. Aroma is simple with caramel and toasted malts with hint of citrus hops. Flavor is very sweet with candy sugar and caramel on a toasted malt base. Oily, medium body and moderate carbonation. This one is too sweet for me. It's also very simple. Drinkable yes but wouldn't go for another.
