This place has been around for a few years now, but really never developed a big beer following, cuz they try to make it fairly upscale. IE: no "pub grub" just good but expensive and fancy food. Just a crummy little TV, god forbid they got some loud beer swilling sports fans in the joint. The selection is better then average. But not alot of good beer karma, flows thru this place. I'd like this place better if they served a $6 hamburger, had a decent TV screen and if they loosened up abit.

I'm thinking that from now on, I'm going to take the train everywhere I go. Yeah, that's right, the train. And if I can't get there by train, then I ain't going. And what I'll do is to drive 40 miles to the Bedford Hills Metro North station to park, and take the train from there. No reason, just because. And hey, as long as I'm waiting, maybe I'll just step across the street to this, what's this? The Tap House Cafe? Yeah, that's where I'll be...
3 towers, 35 taps in all. Very unusual. 7 Brooklyns, 4 Smuttys, 2 Anchors, 2 Davidson brothers, 2 Victorys, Harpoon, Unibroue, Magic Hat, Middle Ages, North Coast, Sierra Nevada and more. Here's the unusual part. Guess which Sierra Nevada? No, not the Pale Ale. It was the Bigfoot. The 2 Victory's?? The Golden Monkey and the Storm King Stout. One of the 7 Brooklyn's is the Black Chocolate Stout. How do you like that? The Storm King and Brooklyn Black Chocolate side by side. Nice. What else? O'Hara's Stout, Mollings Irish Red, Bluebird Bitter, and on the low end of the beer food chain we find Hoegaarten, GuinnessHarpBass, McSorley's, Yuengling, a cider... Good selection of single malts, small batch bourbons, tequillas and cognacs.
It's a small place, with bar seating for about 10 and a half dozen tables running the length of the far wall up to the front area where they have a set up for live music. Sunken lighting about with box candles lit and black & whites of old jazz artists dotting the walls. There's also a rear room with roughly 8 tables for dining, although...
I sat barside of course, watching the band, eating my crazy good shrimp/chicken/sausage gumbo, drinking my Middle Ages IPA, not waiting for any goddamn train to come, not now, not any time soon ('cause I ain't takin' no train, nowhere. It was a stupid idea).

This is more a restaurant than a bar, so be prepared for that. The bar area is small, with only a dozen or so seats. It's a nice dark restaurant, though, so it has a bar feel. But the tables have real tablecloth on them, if that tells you anything. The place doesn't open until 5 o'clock, so don't plan on having lunch. No happy hour specials that I could determine.
I understand that the food is excellant, but I haven't eaten in this establishment in about 8 years, so can't vouch for it now. It is, however, expensive. And this passes through to the beer. The pints I had were $5 each.
The beer selection, however, was fabulous. I had the Davidson Brothers Oatmeal Stout and Saw Mill River Reeds Ride Porter, and this didn't begin to touch the beer on tap that I haven't had. There were at least 20 taps (I didn't count), and all of them seemed to have craft and unusual beer. The quality was extremely high.
Given the suburban location, I would imagine this place gets some traffic in the evening. When I was there, I was the only one in the house. It is right across from the train station, so the atmosphere may pick up when the commuters start getting home.
