another beer that I had high hopes for, this Rye ale is, if anything, very refreshing. A good reasonable hopey flavor and a semi sweet body, this beer felt far more drinkable than the bitters or the IPA, a good in-between for anyone coming here who is getting tired of sweeter flavored beer. Despite that, it really didn't feel that Special to me.
A 7/10. I do not know if I would ever have this one again.

Enjoyed on-tap at the brewpub. Decent appearance, a little head and amber colour, a bit of lace. On the sweet side, with some fruitiness. Average mouthfeel, suitably carbonated. Just boring as sweet malty without an edge.Saved room for the IPA and DIPA.

Appearance: Arrives at the bar with a slightly hazy amber color and a modest head that quickly disappears after leaving some perfunctory lace
Smell: Not much aroma until it warmed and, then, the rye was readily apparent, with its peppery, slightly sour character
Taste: Opens with a Germanic crackery malt flavor that, introduces an English fruit aspect before moving on to an American peppery, sour rye mid-palate flavor that builds, after the swallow
Mouthfeel: Medium body with low carbonation
Drinkability: More interesting than enjoyable but kudos to the brewer for the experimentally complex style

A - A clear reddish gold, not too much head, but then again the bartender filled this to the very brim for me.
S - Not too much going on in the nose. Some fruity esters noted along with a light hop, kinda has the smell of an American Pale Ale.
T - Definitely makes up for the relative lack of aroma. This is one of those German liquid sustenance beers; it's literally like ripping into a loaf of quality German rye bread that happens to be spiced with some hop. Pretty strong bitter rye taste going on. Very dry and crisp.
F - A good carbonated bite only aids the drying sensation.
D - An excellent beer, though seems like more of a meal replacement than a session beer; hearty and filling. I don't know of too many other rye beers; it's a cool style and the Titanic executes it well.

A visually pretty beer with lots of fluffy head and a cyclone of gripping lace. Yet somehow all these suds emerge from a body with little carbonation. Yellow-gold color and very clear, with a plump body and yeasted nose. The taste is biscuity with yeasted overtures. It's not exactly crisp and dry as I expect rye ales to be, but the drinkability is intact. Very nice.
