Pours amber in color with a tall pretty dense head. The clarity is slightly hazy and looks nicely carbonated. This beer is very aromatic and fragrant and seems to be in proportion with the style(APA). The hop bouquet seems to have a floral and piney aspect while the malts have a caramel sweetness that balances out the hoppiness. The hop bouquet doesn't carry over very well onto the palette. The taste here is more malt forward with hops having an earthy musk. Medium weight on the palette slick with hop oils and somewhat smooth too. Quite bitter for the style that lingers deep into the aftertaste. A solid offering form the boys down there but that earthy musk taste from the hops is slightly off putting.

Served on tap at House of 1000 Beers
A - Pours a really nice pale yellow color, 1 finger white fluffy head, moderate lacing
S - Nice fresh aroma, hops, a little pine, and a faint hint of mint.
T - About the same as the aroma, fresh flavors of hops, not agressively bitter, but just right, lighter malts, and some very minor dry citrus
M - Thinner, not bad, but very refreshing.
O - This is a solid APA by all means. I've had it a bomber previous and its a great refreshing quality thats hard to beat.

bomber into Flying Dog chalice. bottle dating is hard to read. looks like a best before sometime in January 2013 if i had to guess.
A: pretty hazy brew. a bright orange on the first pour, but the second half of the bottle looks a lot paler cause of all the yeasty sediment. head is slightly off-white and frothy. not very big. retention is good as is the thick coat of lacing.
S: a little bit of nail polish remover. fruit salad. melons and cantaloupe. definitely more on the fruity american hop side than earthy or piney.
T: the bitterness is there, but not biting. fruity and piney. a little bit of cardboard. a little bit of graham cracker.
M: soft carbonation. medium bodied. works well.
D: not exceptional but not terrible. definitely some flaws in there, however overall i find it a drinkable fresh-hop brew. however appearance is definitely a negative, way too much yeast floating around in this thing.

Pours a hazy orange-ish to yellow color with an off white head. In the aroma, a nice earthy hop presence, yet a touch mellow. In the taste, a very nice earthy dryer hop all the way through. A small dryness and a medium to lighter bodied mouthfeel, with a small dry, fresh hop in the aftertaste. A nice mellow dryer hop, somewhat mellow and decent across the board.

22oz bottle
Purchased Oct. 2012
Stella Artois chalice
A: Pours a dirty yellowish brown like color. One finger of bright white soapy bubbled head. I really had to pour it aggressively to get that. But there seems to be carbonation, because I am seeing tight tiny bubbles coming up from the bottom. Leaves some lacing sheeting.
S: I was surprised that this had a pretty faint nose for a wet hop ale. Getting some floral notes. Some weak pine hints. Also, bready malts behind it all.
T: On the tip of the tongue, you get a burst of pine bitterness. Weird soapy like flavors. Not getting bright citrus or pine or other fruits that I was expecting. Just really blah IPA flavors, actually like it's been sitting around for a little bit? Homebrew like quality to this one actually.
M: It's a medium bodied IPA. The malts add to that.

A: burnt-orange. Quite opaque. As attractive an IPA as I have seen.
S: Dominant pine in the nose. A little but of citrus, but overshadowed by the pine.
T: wonderful. Ultra-bitter throughout. Tasting some caramel in the middle, but it's subtle. Perhaps with age this becomes more balanced, but 1 week off the bottling line it's a total hop bomb.
M: Surprisingly thick. Not a lot of carbonation.
O: Really, really happy with how this year's batch has turned out. A fresh bottle is competitive with any other IPA out there. Based on the other review's below, it sounds like this goes downhill quickly, but I could drink fresh bottles regularly if they were available in other months besides October/November.

First had: on tap at the Khyber (back when they were cool and had shows), Philly, PA
Poured a lightly hazy copper color, with a small off-white head that receded rather quickly. Nose of caramel malts and herbal hops. Pretty basic taste, caramel balanced with grassy / herbal hops, a touch of citrus pith. Light-medium body, decent flavor, a fine average drinker overall. Nothing you haven't had before.

on tap at khyber in philly - review from notes
Clear golden amber, fluff of white head dissolves into well retained layer of film, leaving a bit of patchy lacing on the glass.
Very bitter and juicy in the nose. Orange and citrus with some pithy notes. Light bready malt and soft fruit sweetness.
Splash of juicy and expressive hops up front. Tons of citrus and orange followed by grapefruit. Slick malts with bread crust notes along with some light caramel. Finishes with a swift burst of bitter, dry hoppiness with pine.
Medium body, well carbed, sticky, lingering and dry. Surprising treat from a local source, although definitely a "drink now" kind of beer. I suspect that many of the low scores are from bottles that weren't quite fresh enough.
