A: Dark coppery in the glass with a frothy 2 finger beige head that was topped off by a soapy bubbly covering. Small speckled lacing remains with a scarce, intermittent effervesce within. Head retention was solid.
S: Aroma strength was light, caramelized grain with fresh pine blended with some licorice. The hoppiness was short lived on the pour and rather light and meh.
T: Boozy upfront, licorice and raisin followed by some dried flowery citrus. Moderate level of bitterness, kept fairly in check but weakened towards the finish. The malt base was quite nice, perhaps more note worthy then the hopping itself of scotchy caramelized grains coming about on the finishing take. The hop preference left much to be desired on the finish, with the malt picking up the slack. Not my ideal crisp pale, a bit darker and heavier malt wise while the bitterness is fresh and wet and rather light in detection.
M: Mouthful was light, oily slick with an exceptionally smooth and silky feel aided by a void of carbonation. Needs some snap. Warming licorice and citrus juice perhaps gives this some redemption after the swallow.
D: Moderate drinkability, definitely not a pale ale session, drinks rather heavy, but good for a bomber. Alcohol feels about in the 6-7% range though not noted on bottle.

Nice pop then nothing. Interesting but not not unique or memorable.
